But what I want to ask is, I guess that the image size has to be under 1 MB, many under 0,5 mb.
I read it on a forum that instagram kompresh the image size if the image is bigger than 0,5 or 1MB.
Did u have any problems on images bigger than 1 MB size?

Hi eli how are you! im a huge fan of you! love love your work! i got a bit confused with this since my english is not that good, so first of all i resize the image, then i apply the sharpen action u left us and then i sharpen it again and export? or sharpen resize and then use that sharp of highpass and export? thanks i would really aprecciate it if you could help me

Hey Nicolas! Use the sharpen action to sharpen only areas you want to increase. Then resize your image to 2048px and use the highpass filter with overlay blend mode. :)
Thanks Eli for this tutorial, I liked it. One quick question I got, because first you did only sharpening in Lightroom and then went to Photoshop. Would it be the same if you could do that sharpening in Photoshop Camera Raw and continue all the process in there?

Hey, I was a little bit confused on your first step of sharpening in photoshop. You played your action and just started painting. I have no idea of the steps you took to set up the layer layer before painting

Thanks for this info. As per the instagram guideline the maximum resolution in which it takes a photo is 1350*1080 . I'm Confused if i should use the resolution suggested by you or the instagram's one.Which one is the best,Please reply...

Great work! With the large file size on your final export, does the IG compression filter not kick in? Or does the file size not matter anymore?
When I post portrait orientation photographs I've had no issues. I did have some issues with the horizontal orientation photographs. The fix for me was adjusting the pixels size to 1080px.

Hi Eli, un tutorial buenísimo!! but why didn´t you set the mode to 8-Bits/Channel? I always heard about don´t export on 16-Bits for web... is it a limit only for jpg?
I'll be honest I'm now too familiar with 8 vs 16. I've heard 16 is best to prevent color mishaps.

Hey.....do u have any suggestions for resizing a Snapchat photo to upload to Instagram/fb as a profile pic? What steps should I take without having to crop it? I don’t like the white borders either. I use this app called peachy to stretch the photo horizontally to try to get more space so I don’t have to crop it as much but, i have no idea what I’m doing. I have an app called image Resizer where u can enter ur ratios and I usually put 1080x1350 but, I’m trying to upload a profile pic for both IG and FB. Should I do it separately? There’s an option for ig where u can you link ur IG and FB together so if U upload a pic to Instagram u can also upload it to fb at the same time. So usually, I will set my fb posts to “only me” for audience so when the post gets posted on my fb from the ig post it doesn’t get double posted and I just “set photo as profile pic.” Then delete the other post. Which in turn, only has one photo on my timeline rather than 2 and then, I avoid having to deal with split comments/likes etc. (sorry if I’m not making any sense) but, idk 2x3 ratio looks like the pic doesn’t get cropped as much. It looks bigger. Either way, this has something that has confused me for soooo long. And because Snapchat photos are much more longer in size, it’s hard to resize it where it doesn’t get cropped off as much ya kno? Please help. I’m desperate. I don’t want to have to crop the pic if I don’t have to. Of course, if I have to crop it....I want to minimize as much as possible and not have the platforms downsize/compress it and have the quality come out like shit. (I’m on iOS) When u choose the ratio- 2x3 what does that equal to? It seems like when u choose that size it doesn’t crop the photo as much. But, will ig/fb allow u to upload 2x3 without compressing/cropping it? Seems like 2x3 is bigger than 4x5 but, from watching numerous videos I am under the impression that 4x5 is the best size to upload to get the most real estate. But, does that equal to 1080x1350? To get the maximum amount of photo/quality, if I am cropping through an app..does it matter if I choose the 4x5???? what is the difference between cropping the ratio to 4x5 versus resizing entering the dimension “1080x1350?” (Sorry if I’m confusing you. Clearly, I confuse myself 🤦🏻♀️ lol) Also, for the options in Lightroom you can export a photo format as “Original, JPG, TIF, DNG.” Which is the best format to pick for uploading to social media platforms?? There’s this app I just downloaded called “Remini” which allows u to get higher quality for ur photos. Not sure what I’m doing but, I tried it and it looked like it really did make the photo look like such better quality but, as far as the other questions, I would really appreciate it if u could get back to me. Hi Eli, do you have a "batch" method to do this for multiple photos? I'm having trouble taking multiple photos from lightroom to photoshop and then resizing them and making them all PNG. Thank you for any advice!

Hello why are you exporting with 2040px if Instagram only allow 1080? Could you explain this?
Yaaa Instagram allows only maximum 1080px....? Or any change in the resolution?
I was wondering the same. Literally the whole world, every single site, even Instagram itself is shouting to resize your pics as 1080px of width.
Some ppl export at higher res because if one day Instagram will increase the res their photos are gona look better ..maybe that’s why 🤷🏻♂️
I late to know this video. How about if I'm gonna post film photo on instagram (without edit). I've tried use 1080x1350 as instagram wanted. but it doesn't work. The photo getting compressed. Little help please. Thank you.
There is like a million steps. Keep the quality below 76%, make sure its no bigger than 1080, if exporting from photoshop then keep it to a 4x5 or a 1x1, if from photoshop then use the bicubic thing because you're making the image smaller, then also do a small prayer to all major and minor deities
for 2021 Instagram giving only maximum 1080px, right? And is there happening quality drop when using "Saving for Webs" ?

I'm not sure what the issue is. Best practice is to crop 4x5 ratio in photoshop and follow my steps.

I would guess it's your internet connection. Instagram lowers the quality of photos when the connection is low same as UA-cam does with videos.

strange, Instagram advises in its Help section to crop your photos with a 4:5 ratio and a max width of 1080 pixels. How come you go with 2048?

I did the export exactly how you did, but the picture is still too long via iPhone so Instagram destroys the quality
Now the Instagram gives only a maximum of 1080px. Did you try with 1080px?

Hi Eli, in this video you are exporting as a png, but you are not copping for Instagram. How do you post to instagram and showing the full image?
Select the cropping tool by pressing R button on your keyboard ... set it to 4x5 .. you can change the orientation by pressing the X on your keyboard ....
Exporting... use long side 1080 ... 76 for quality

If you uncheck the transparency box ur image will have a small Size... U dont need the transparency..

Soooo 1080 is too small for IG ? I can bounce up to 2048 huh!
In some instances 1080 looks better but 2048 works as well.
