About his 'musicality' - he'd spent years on a piano training, before being sucked in by the blackhole of the percussionists Universe. If I'm not mistaken, Evgeny is the one, who's writing the music sheets and explaining the arrangement to all of the band members.
I had no idea about this! This is very interesting and actually explains a lot to me. It certainly explains his ability to play parts that sync up so well with the rest of the musical arrangement of the band since hes the one doing the composing lol
I just recently got introduced to slaughter to prevail, and I'm a metalhead. Or at least I used to be before I was domesticated and got a wife and kids that can't stand when I blast the dust off the walls with my drum set. This guy's technique approach and speed have blown my brain out of my ear holes. This dude is phenomenal and I will definitely be listening and watching more of this band. I'm glad that I randomly came across your channel. Cheers from Texas
Im glad youre hear brother! I absolutely love this band, and admittedly i have some pretty funny reactions up when it comes to them. If you need a laugh check my most recent video with Evgeny playing 1984 to see what i mean lol
@@DrumlionMusic I will check it out. In the meantime, think about checking out "Samson". It's rap, but he delivers real world facts that everyone(that loves the U.S.) should hear. Not sure if this channel allows current affairs and history to be displayed, but I encourage you to do it on your own.
Another spot on reaction sir! I'm no drummer, but love some good kit work! With that being said, I feel like trying to comprehend what Evgeny does, my brain is on a dial-up connection...trying to process, and trying to catch up! 🙃 Keep up the outstanding work man! 👏 🤟
Niiice reaction, the way you can't stay focused on in the end blast me off ! 🤘 That drummer's sick. And yeah, playing drumsticks backward is such a thing in that gender of music 😂 For more powerness I guess.
Dude's insane. He's really creative and super fast. I wish I still had the drive to play like this, but it seems to keep going down with age. I'm still in a band, but more of an emo pop punk band now and it's been fun but I miss being in metal bands sometimes
Youre still able to link up and jam creatively with other musicians. That bu itself is an amazing blessing because you get to openly share your musical passion with others that feel the same. No matter what you're playing, to me, that will always hold priceless value. So for what it's worth i think what you are doing is amazing.
@@DrumlionMusic thank you! That means a lot. Well said. I've definitely lost some speed and endurance, but every time we play a show I feel the passion again for sure
The drum play through from Sleep Token Hypnosis an offering from II is natty and sick af. The mic set up is interesting. Kick drum mic on the floor tom. Not sure this drummer has enough moon gel. Lol. Your gonna love his kit. Nice reaction 🤘

I just discovered your channel. Love it. I think you would enjoy looking into the drumming of Wlad from the band Jinjer. One of the tastiest groove drummers in metal. He has a very unconventional kit and it matches his unconventional approach to metal drumming...and he's a master technician like Evgeny, only extremely different. I've seen Slaughter To Prevail and Jinjer live a couple times, and I gotta say, Wlad NEVER messes up. Evgeny is pretty tight live, but sometimes he dips just slightly in his timing. You can see and hear it in the upload they put up of his live playthrough of Zavali Ebalo...just a smidge off for a second during the 2nd blast where he alternates between snare and China cymbal ( though he made up for it in the live playthrough of Hell by crushing the shit out of the song). You will NEVER hear anything but absolute precision from Wlad and Jinjer live. You really need to look into him. Just the ghost note patterns alone are worth the price of admission to a Jinjer show. I'll just say this, and I love both drummers, I can pick up what Evgeny is doing on drums and play it. I am still trying to figure out songs from Jinjer because some of what Wlad does totally escapes me and puts my brain on lock. I can see it, I can hear it, but nope...can't make my body play it. Playthroughs to check out: Mediator live Vortex live Under the Dome playthrough Ape playthrough Homeback playthrough Sit Stay Roll Over playthrough There are several more, but that should get you started Wlad Ulasevich is a monster Also...thanks UA-cam algorithm for putting this channel in my suggestions
I gotta admit, you made one hell of a sales pitch for Jinjer. Ive heard some of their songs "in passing" if that makes sense but now, I am super intrigued to do some deep diving into the music. I just have to try to use my analytical brain, and not my brain that just wants to rock out to music haha. Seeing your words about Evgeny, it only took me half a second to tell you are truly a drummer yourself. You can actually distinguish and tell what is happening in a playthrough while the "casual" music listener wont have a clue; they just like what they hear. For me, when it comes to Evgeny, I am drawn to his style of playing. Its unapologetic and high octane, so I admit it gets my blood pumping. I will definitely be adding Vlad to my immediate recommendations list. P.S, I am kinda curious to see your skills behind the kit as well. Have you considered starting a channel yourself? It sounds like you could be very successful at it.
@@DrumlionMusic I lack the tools for video production. I have no cameras for filming beyond a cell phone, and no mixer to run my drums into a pro tools program. Basically all I have to work with are my Tama Rockstar DS drums, Meinl cymbals, mics, and a very old Peavy PA system and board with 8 channels to mic up my drums, and it is a 70s model with no ports for plugging into a computer. I honestly wouldn't know where to begin with video production. I'm only familiar with playing on a stage, or playing in my practice room. I would love to know more about video production and what I would need for mixing my sound so one could hear my drums alongside the music of a song I'm covering, without the original song's drum track. I am not very tech savvy so I really don't know what I would need to begin such an endeavor. It's possible I could be successful if I knew how to get off the ground, but the people who do UA-cam drumming videos aren't typically forthcoming on information regarding video production. They just upload their work and make the rest of us wonder how we hear their drums in another artist's track. The only person who gives pointers is 66Samus, but he is mostly doing an add for one of his sponsors showing what a program can do once his drums are modeling to a computer program, but not the actual act of hooking each mic'd up part of the drum kit to said program. I would need an audio visual tech person to explain it to me, and I don't know any. On stage we use our own equipment and the house sound board in most instances, though sometimes we have to rent one because the venue doesn't have one.
