There is a nice little farm shop on the right on the A66 and the stake pipes are lovely full of meat , I wish I had a pound for every trip I did east and west on the A66 when I used to drive a truck before I retired
Thank you so much, I have a motorhome but am unable to use at the moment as a carer for 97 year old mother. Watching your videos makes me feel as though I have been out somewhere ! I was on Durham in 2012 on the way home from Scotland and 17 nights away. Enjoy your new van when you collect.
Anne Plowright we were the same between 2007 and 2013 as first my dad was unwell and then we needed to look after my mum. We used to go five miles up the road to Ashwell in the van so we could get back quickly. I used to watch UA-cam videos of Scotland so I do understand how you feel.
@@jennyearnshaw7892 my storage has a site, so I moved my van onto the site for 2 weeks this june, it was wonderful!! I felt I was using it and my mum enjoyed it too. We would eat there in the evening before coming home! 10 mins away brilliant! Thank you so much , watching you on your travels helps so much! Van time is the best time. Enjoy!! X
Anne, if we're not going anywhere, I still love sitting inside and looking where to go. I bought "wardrobe " after my husband passed away. I needed something to look forward to, and it does help a lot.
Enjoyed the run north on this one. Driving the big wheels for a living, I don't get the pleasure of seeing the views on the A685 due to the weight restrictions. Didn't realise it was so hilly. Looking forward to the next episodes with the Malibu.
I was hoping you would pop into Mainsgill Farm shop on the A66, just before Scotch Corner, and see the camels (if they are still there?). A favourite land mark in our family. On second thoughts it is rather a challenging right turn back out on to the A66 again afterwards, if you are travelling east.
Simon Baxter Yes we go to Mainsgill Farm shop it’s very popular on the A66 , we bought the Home made bread 🍞 and cheese 🧀 and snowdrops last time we were there.
Hi Bob and Jenny...can't beleive you didn't visit the Durham City Lumiere Festival which is on 14th-17th Nov...its the only city they visit every year so please put it on your must see list next year as its a spectacular event...pass my regards onto Jonathen Bell at TVMH...looking forward to your Malibu trip videos
Looking forward to your next video picking up the Malibu, you both seem very excited about your new purchase and I don’t blame you. So will be awaiting the video when you pick up your MH x
was just re-watching your 4-year review on your current motorhome. that you made on the 15th November last year. so exactly one-year ago.. and at the end of the video jenny asked you what your conclusions were about changing the motorhome..and your answer was... I like new things
great video as usual. So love seeing the roads and the scenery. We are always waiting for someone to be surprised by you drawing back the curtain in the shower block :) BTW you have created a monster, as we are now looking for dark chocolate covered shortbread at our local British import store here in BC Canada!
Thanks, cease your search! I thought it was shortbread, it had a similar wrapper, but it was just a chocolate covered biscuit, a copy of one called Kit Kat over here.
Like yourselves we too got a great deal, with our Elddis we got 12% discount and we are really pleased with the high spec equipment on it as it is a dealers special. It also is old road tax costs. Win Win.
Hi Bob, hope your European tour is going well, we enjoying your videos, just for your information we just had a weekend away at Durham Grange CAMC site, and noticed for 1st time ever, it is closing for winter, so no using it as a stopover when travelling Scotland
Yes they are, but you get a quality site, as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for! Just booked clumber park for xmas, and meathrop fell for new year, both after watching your arrival vids while we were at Durham Grange! Yer costing me a fortune! Lol, looking forward to your next European trip video!
Will you be fixing a towbar to the new motorhome to tow the VW up? I'm fairly keen to get an A frame (already have a towbar on our Autotrail from new) but my wife isn't convinced and says it's like caravanning!
She's right. We say it turns our Motorhome into a caravan, so we can have a motorhome if we want to tour around stopping where we like, or if we want to stop for longer, we can take the car and get to places we can't take the motorhome. Best of both worlds! Yes, we are getting a tow bar fitted.
Thanks for the reply - yes, that's going to my line to the wife "it's the best of both worlds". I'm curious to know what mileage you've covered in the Bolero......you've undoubtedly had 'good value for money'.
We really enjoy and appreciate your videos - however when you are chatting whilst driving along its really difficult to hear what you are both saying as the volume is low. It seems like the mike is not picking you up properly. This is just a bit of feedback and not a criticism.
As a bus driver, you'd be amazed at how many retired people don't seem to enjoy a lie in. As soon as the concessionary pass is valid at 9am, my bus is full 😉
I agree entirely Bob. We currently own a Baileys Rangefinder caravan built in Australia and are considering moving to a motor home. Trailite in New Zealand build a great motor home but are expensive $220,000 NZ. We like some of the European models but most don’t hold a lot of fresh water and also have small kitchens. However we will further check them out. We like A class, do you have a preference brand.
Guys, don’t be surprised at your following. Your videos are fantastic. Very high production values, excellent sound and lovely honest non contrived narration. I love watching your adventures. The new van looks epic! May your success continue to grow! Great video. Yes the A1 sound is a bit invasive. The site looks good though. Could you do a video on campervanning in the winter please. A lot of club sites are now closed till March 2020.
Thanks for the feedback. We will be Motorhoming throughout the winter. Between now and February we have planned trips to Edinburgh, Melrose, Knaresborough, Southport, Tredegar and Strathclyde Country Park, all open during winter. Oh and Moffat!
Providing you have plenty of data, use Google maps on your phone. It updates every single minute on diversions, road closures, accidents, new road layouts and all current speed limits. A recent trip to Manchester, Google maps took me off the motorway and through 30/40mph built up areas, otherwise I would have been stuck on the M62 for a quoted 2.5 hours.
Captain Slow Be very careful using google maps when driving a motorhome . Unless you have specifically entered your height , length and width like you can with the Falcon navigator you need to be very aware that google will re route you through some very narrow roads that may not be at all suitable for a motorhome .
There is a certain irrationality about the VED discrepancies between motorhomes and cars with caravans. A car pulling a caravan, even of moderate size will have comparable emissions (or worse) than van derived motorhomes. This is the same type of discrepancy that applies to insurance and VAT considerations too. Yet motorhomes have whole vehicle MOT certification.... I won’t go on......

As I watch your video tonight I live not far away from you as you brave the cold wet Durham
Enjoy your tour guys .. that’s a place on our list .. cheers Chris & Sam ..
Nice mugs 😂 You have such a lot to think about this week. Make sure you find sone time to relax too 👍🏻 Safe travels 😊 Trev n Sue

Thanks for explaining the VED issue, Bob. Thankfully mine is like yours, a 6B category.
Stopped there last year Bob when we were caught in a massive rainstorm and I thought it was a good site. Some well friendly people as well.
Such a shame didn't know you were up this way. You wouldn't have been too far from where we live. Interesting video thanks for this.
Another enjoyable video to watch. Thumbs up pressed 👍
Thank you 👍
Great video guys, I find your videos of driving to sites so relaxing to watch 👍🏻 handy site for heading north, even if it sounds quite noisy
The road noise isn't too bad on the side away from the A1
We missed you by a day. We've just been to Tyne Valley Motorhomes today. Had a look inside the Malibus. Very nice.
Thanks then you'll be interested in this series.
Looking forward to watching you set up the kontiki.xx
Stayed on the serviced non-awning opposite you on our way to Scotland in July. Very handy site!

Enjoy your trip. Those dark chocolate double takes are favourites in our house too :)
I can see a product review coming! 😉👍
Well done nice video ? we Prefer this style of motor home than your new motor home as we need extra seat belts ? Enjoy Ken and Christine xxx
Thanks, that's why there are so many layouts, something for everyone.
Looking forward to your future videos with the a class.
Also looking forward to seeing you collect the new van and watching how you set it up :)
Thanks, yes there will be a few videos of that type.
Nice video, I like the fact you let us all have a look round the facilities.
Thanks.

That's a shame, maybe just not worth keeping it open since everyone has decided that club sites are more expensive than every other site!

Should've popped in for a coffee, only about 18 miles from scotch corner, oh and Brough is pronounced 'bruff'
Think we got confused perhaps it's Brougham pronounced 'Broom'.
Aye as in rough 😜
Did poppy leave you any room on the sofa?!😀
She's in her usual passenger seat. So fortunately room for us now!
Hi Bob,
Will Todds have your MH up for sale or has it already been sold?
They will be selling it, after 5th December.
As seen on TV. One careful owner. Never raced or rallied. FSH Bargain at ......😁
@@paulwood7798 And of course, being previously owned by internet stars it might go for a higher price. 😀

9.00 am is early for us retired people.👍

I think as I get older I don't need so much sleep. Plus, don't want to miss any of what life is left to me! 😁

What was the issue with the GoPro 7?
Not sure, think the battery went flat suddenly. Seems OK now.

MONCUR007 yes when I miss travelling 🧳 I always put Bob and Jenny on for a bit of nostalgia.
when you get your new m/home will you be treating yourselves to a new sat nag?? Hope you don't fall in love with the Mali u lol...
Possibly. Looks like Mrs Sat Nag has had her day.
