You both must have been exhausted that day but how exciting for you both .... I'm sat here with a nice glass of wine enjoying your adventures ....as always thank you both
Interesting , in 2018 we set off from Gretna to The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, traffic was manic , nowhere to park the car, grandson became frustrated , so we went to Leith and came back to Gretna. May try in 2020 in our 10 foot caravan on our way down from doing the C500, it’s different when you have such a nice Camping and Caravanning Club to stay , makes a world of difference . My heart was in my mouth seeing all the traffic congestion. I bet all three of you were tired after such an exhausting day and drive. You did well.
Thank you! I love your travel videos as much as I love the tours/education you give on the vans. Your country is beautiful and all of the camping sites you go to are so clean. The people you interact with are helpful and polite. I feel like I am on vacation and right now that is so nice due to covid- 19.
This looks very familiar because we had the Carthago version of it. You'll have found out by now that reaching across the dash to pull the windscreen blind up in the morning is wonderful exercise for the tummy muscles and you probably shifted the gear lever in the process! I thought the coach mirrors were a bit too big and obstructed my view, especially at roundabouts. After the first altercation (!) I learned to move my head backwards and forwards. The only annoying rattle came from that door, as Jenny has discovered. We had the 150 Comfortmatic with cruise control and it returned 28 mpg. It's quite tall and short wheel based so you've probably also found it gets blown around more than you're used to. We had a Hobby 750 before, and our first few trips in the Carthago were positively alarming until we got used to it.
Very nice Bob and Jenny. From my experience as a former highway cop, it usually takes an experienced driver half an hour or so to get the feel of a vehicle you've never driven before, acceleration, braking, stability and general handling. Cheers from NZ.
I think every motorhome should have a Jenny colour pilot navigator. Well done Jenny. Looking forward to more in this Aclass. I drove buses for a living so can see resemblance. X
Hi there you three.. Like the look of the Malibu so far... Enjoy it.. Looking forward to seeing how you get on.. But most importantly poppy looks at home🐕🐕xx
Just found your channel this afternoon and subscribed, Lo and behold this evening we were notified of this video. Enjoyed the videos we have watched a great deal, will start viewing the "back catalogue" Many thanks
Hi Bob, your sat nav does need an upgrade, at the very beginning when you turned right off the A693, I bet you ended up at Beamish Museum and had to turn left back onto the A693. Its 5 minutes from home for me. The A class looks good, look forward to the next episode.
Great video as always. The motorhome is stunning, I sometimes think some A class motorhomes look a bit odd but that is lovely. Must be strange to drive at first with the big screen. You two always make me laugh with your typical “couples” conversations 😁👍🏻
Have a great break. The van looks great 👍. The more we watch you and a couple of other Motorhome vlogs I’m beginning to think about swapping from our caravan. Thanks for sharing. Ian @ Sonja
Gosh... I grew up in Cramond. Views of Silverknowes, Cramond Foreshore.... amazing stuff. Beautiful place, Edinburgh.... too beautiful for me.... had to leave.
Yes, it always takes a wee while to get things adjusted just right when you get into a new motor Bob. It looks a lovely motorhome. Great panorama views from the front seats. The deep windscreen will take a little while to get used to I'm guessing. I couldn't see properly from the rear photo at the border layby, but does it have a reversing camera?
We have a “little stubby aerial”. Watching others on site it seems to be far less problematic than setting up satellite. I usually have tuned the telly by the time my husband’s filled the water tank. We have only had to use the lead once (at Buxton when we were at the far left of the quarry site). Trees don’t appear to be an issue. As you rightly say, Bob, phones/tablets can be used for streaming non freeview or watching downloads - my husband secured a good deal for this purpose with our provider. We believe that as technology improves satellite dishes and domes on the roof will be a thing of the past.
Great to see a video from an A Class, pleasant change. Interesting that its quieter as with the bigger boxy shape I thought it would perhaps be more "boomy". Not a fan of those dreaded mid-video adverts I have to say. Looking forward to seeing Scotland through those huge windows, have a great trip!
When the name Malibu was mentioned I was expecting a van conversion for some reason. I do like the look of this one you've had for your new tour. Have a great time
Looks nice Bob. I like the driving position with the nice deep and wide cab. Huge garage which I always wonder how I would use all the space. It’ll be interesting what your thoughts are after a few days living in it 🙂 Trev
Haha, didn't know you're also fans of HubNut! We talk about "The triangle of doom" now too! It's interesting to hear your opinions on actually using the van. Poppy looks happy with her choice of seat! Does it feel more cramped in the living/kitchen area than in your van?
Always interesting watching you drive a road I know so well, the A1. Yes, Edinburgh has the worst road surfaces. I live pretty much straight across the Forth from your campsite. Enjoy the Malibu.
Looks a nice thing , those Wipers not set up right , Pass needs Loweri g n Drivers lifting Slightly then couls fit a longer Arm on to have a longer Swipe on the front Edge Bet you slept well that night , being a long day
Really looking forward to hearing your views on the Malibu. We're hoping to buy a Malibu over here next year, albeit a van conversion rather than a motorhome, but will be interested to hear your views on quality, the brand etc. Have a good trip. 👍
Not filling this to the brim......oh go on! Great idea Bob! Great video as usual, looks like a great van....nowhere near as good as your new one though!
When you spoke about how quiet the van was, I wanted to ask if you had left Poppy behind. I really enjoy your videos, especially the cameos of Poppy and Tara.
Think I am confused Bob🤔 thought it was a Swift you were looking at, any way agree the road from Mayfield to Barton surface is terrible, Queensferry Road has some iffy bits also, good to see you at Silverknowles, always enjoy staying there, had to have a smile thinking of Bob McK using the drop down bed😂 if they were with you😂, have a great visit and getting used to your new home on wheels😊👍
Think you missed the in between video, the Malibu us a motorhome we had already agreed to borrow, we are getting the Swift Kon-Tiki 574 Sport early December.
I was amazed at the quietness of the Carthago Malibu it appeared free of the British manufactured motorhome rattles, squeaks and overall interior noise on your video whilst driving at motorway speeds. From my little experience I would know always pay a little more for the better build quality of German made products am I correct or wrong?
Congrats on the new purchase, I look forward to seeing you take delivery. I noticed that it has a Euro6 engine... I assume that the B stands for adblue which I discovered it needs. I have a 2017 Australian Jayco based on a Fiat Ducato with the Euro 6 engine and it doesn't require adblue? I don't think any of the Fiat, Iveco and Mercedes based motorhomes in this country require adblue. Our emissions laws must be much lower than those in the UK?
@@BobEarnshawMoHo Well that's good news for you, less to be bothered about... I saw something about adblue on the Swift website and must have misinterpreted it. Thanks heaps for your great videos... as well as the other stuff we love the driving parts as we get to see lots of the British towns and landscape. Downunda - Melbourne Australia (Jayco Class C owner)
ahh! not sure its a good idea to drive an A class Carthago before picking up the new swift . German A classes have a habit of seducing anyone who drives them .lol
Whatever next ... Thought you were going to be off in your new van. Are you doing a test drive, looks nice but not sure about the high beds. Know the area near TVMH well as my dealer, was shouting directions when your sat NAV was not working! You might bump into someone you know at EDINBURGH! What is your plan for this tour?
HubNut would be proud of your wiper observations Bob, for anyone wondering what you are on about, it's all explained here ua-cam.com/video/xhHF8a8WWc4/v-deo.html
We are borrowing a Malibu I 430 LE A-Class Motorhome from Tyne Valley Motorhomes for a tour to Edinburgh and Melrose.
Sounds like a race car, not too quiet on the video. Pops can watch the telly, have some wine, and then leap into bed above the seats. Lovely.
You both must have been exhausted that day but how exciting for you both .... I'm sat here with a nice glass of wine enjoying your adventures ....as always thank you both

Thanks, it was a tiring drive.
Them wipers look like a afterthought , looks a nice unit, great video thanks Bob & Jenny
Think they are for the Fiat Cab. They need to be longer.
Thank you! I love your travel videos as much as I love the tours/education you give on the vans. Your country is beautiful and all of the camping sites you go to are so clean. Yes, exactly what I am finding, with the blinds and mirrors, who needs Yoga!
Looks great . As long as Poppy is happy , that’s the main thing! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Very nice Bob and Jenny. From my experience as a former highway cop, it usually takes an experienced driver half an hour or so to get the feel of a vehicle you've never driven before, acceleration, braking, stability and general handling. Cheers from NZ.
Yes, so the drive from Durham to Edinburgh was long enough to get used to the Malibu driving.
Awesome.. luvit when the sea comes into view ... lovley camper as well ..
That's a fancy van!
I think every motorhome should have a Jenny colour pilot navigator. Well done Jenny. Looking forward to more in this Aclass. I drove buses for a living so can see resemblance. X
Thanks yes the coach mirrors do remind of a bus.
Hi there you three.. Like the look of the Malibu so far... Enjoy it.. Looking forward to seeing how you get on.. But most importantly poppy looks at home🐕🐕xx
Oh, Poppy's made herself at home in the Malibu!
7:18 as a Hubnut fan that made me smile :)
Ahh that was LOVELY seeing you in a city so familiar to me. Homesick ! I hope you have a great time and sample the salt and sauce on your chips! X
Very interesting vlog thanks for sharing. Interesting that the A Class seems to rattle less.. Graham
Yes I think this one certainly rattles a lot less.

Was at this site 3 weeks ago during out travels, beautiful Edinburgh!

Yes we could have popped into Beamish if we had the time!
Great video as always. The motorhome is stunning, I sometimes think some A class motorhomes look a bit odd but that is lovely. Must be strange to drive at first with the big screen. You two always make me laugh with your typical “couples” conversations 😁👍🏻

Thanks, they have a complete range from Campervans to A Class.
Looks nice Bob. I like the driving position with the nice deep and wide cab. Huge garage which I always wonder how I would use all the space. It’ll be interesting what your thoughts are after a few days living in it 🙂 Trev
To be honest I'm struggling to use all the space in the garage. Goodness knows what the weight would be if we filled it up!
Looks a nice mh, enjoy getting used to it. Think Poppy has certainly settled in x
Haha, didn't know you're also fans of HubNut! We talk about "The triangle of doom" now too!
It's interesting to hear your opinions on actually using the van. Poppy looks happy with her choice of seat! Does it feel more cramped in the living/kitchen area than in your van?
Thanks yes we love watching Ian. We do like the lounge area in the Malibu. We will be doing a full review though.
Nice one Bob. As a hubnut lover myself I liked the reference! Nice to see something different.
Thanks, yes I wanted to see how we got on in an A Class, ezpe ially with the high up beds.

Bob Earnshaw ah well, missed that, anyway enjoy the Malibu
We have the caravan here 😂😂
Bob McKay just thinking if there was an need😂😂 Enjoy Silverknowles 👍🏴

Bob look forward to your views.

The Fiat Ducato Euro 6B does not use Ad Blue. It is the Euro 6D that does and falls under the new expensive Wehicle Excise Duty.

Hi Bob and Jenny what is the warning triangle for on the Inet display all the best
If you mean the Truma display, it's usually because I disconnected the mains power when we set off.
ahh! not sure its a good idea to drive an A class Carthago before picking up the new swift . German A classes have a habit of seducing anyone who drives them .lol
Now that you're experiencing an A class would you ever consider buying one?
If you don't mind I'll leave that until the final review.
This is a loan Motorhome, we are getting the Swift Kon-Tiki 574 Sport in December. Just a short visit to Edinburgh and Melrose.
You could do with some "Benny Hill" music for the bit you were loading the van at double speed!
Hi Bob, looks sweat can you let us know what the MPG is, were getting a motor home in 2021. KR Brian & Jan
On this one at the moment, it's just over 24 mpg. On my own, it's between 24 to 26 mog.
@@BobEarnshawMoHo Thanks Bob, Will be interesting to see what the total for the time away is. K.R Brian & Jan
I like motor homes
Just wondering if the satellite is a dome or folding dish ?
It's a Telwco dish, hopefully we can try it when we get to Melrose.
Did you mean Teleco ? Just searched them and they are about £1800.
We named our A class "wardrobe" because of how square it is
HubNut would be proud of your wiper observations Bob, for anyone wondering what you are on about, it's all explained here ua-cam.com/video/xhHF8a8WWc4/v-deo.html
Why are you loaning a Motorhome when you already have one Bob/Jen ?
For UA-cam, so we can see what an A Class is like for our viewers. We like trying different motorhomes.
Thankyou for the reply
Dash cam video.....boring
GoPro Hero 7, I don't use a dashcam. Thanks for your feedback.
