I can't say if these plugs will last 42 years like the kawa did (I bet no), i'am looking for waterproof connectors for the turn signals and some other lights i founded this kind quite serious, until i had to "unpin" when mistake in the colors...

    ive been on youtube for hours. your video explained to me how pins are held in place and because of the connector cut in half, i was able to understand how to pull pins from a 16pin green andriod car head terminal and from the small canbus connector, just because you explained how the locking mechanism works. So I spent about $70 for some connectors and tools, Took a deep breath and started working on depinning some wires before I attack the beast and ruin a wiring harness in my car. Thanks for the detailed description of the hammer and how to engage lifting up motion. It worked, removed three pins. It is going to take a bit to develop the right touch. Visualizing that hammer and you lifting up helped. Thanks.

    Dropped my fuel tank off my motorcycle, broke the fuel line connector and the electrical connector's locking tab that holds the plug to the fuel pump. Didn't trust it to stay in place.
    Used Google image search to find similar connectors. Then image searched the proper ($85) plug end only to find it on Amazon for $14. Bought a pin tool kit like you have for $9.
    Watched your video, confirming what I expected I needed to do. Good angles and detail, especially the cutaway which was useful to explain to my friend what needed to be done.
    $23 saved me from replacing an expensive harness and hours of labor.

    This was pretty good. Speeding through things without the real closeups that you need doesn't help. At the beginning that can leave someone wanting as far as real detail. The last part where you took the Dremel and cut the connector for a lateral peak at the inside was great. Anybody that didn't understand what was going on from there was never gonna figure this out. I had the professional keys to get the connector out and it was still a bit of a challenge to get the wire out. I did get it and your video was the guidance I needed to get it out. 😊 This is a great video. Just a little more detail at the beginning for goober like me would pay off bigtime. Thanks again.

    Specialized tools are available for different types of these connectors,but I have fabricated several different ones from slivers of stainless sheet and old paint brush handles.Looks like you have a nice compact set for round pin Amphenol connectors.This is so much better than splicing a new pigtailed one onto the original wiring.

      It's easy really if it does not click in with gentle pressure just rotate 180 degrees and try again. Most connectors you can see where it needs to sit ie horizontal or vertical just flip it until it clicks in.

    Question / Advice .
    So I accidentally damaged a connector for a car at the base ( where the wire goes into the plastic housing )
    Would it be possible to pry open the little metal sleeve , remove the cut wire, and simply insert the remainder of the good wire back into the metal sleeve and squeeze it tight again then insert ???

    • @50plusdad-uk
      @50plusdad-uk  7 місяців тому

      Yes I've done this when I couldn't get a replacement, be really careful opening up the terminal just enough to get the wire out use a brad or small watchmakers screwdriver, then put the new wire in, I find it best to solder as well because opening up the terminal can weaken the metal and cause a loose crimp but don't make the solder too big or it won't fit back in the connector. Good luck 👍

    I have a regular 3 pin box connector and a 2 pin on my tractor and the box has a little latch on the inside to catch the a hole on the pin like the latch you are showing but my box is different. my box is old and crumbling apart, my pins connected to the wire is in great shape. My question is what type of 2 and 3 pin box do I need to replace my bad ones.my box is the square type with a push on the out side to release the male side from the female side like those on most vehicles. all the ones I see are the type where the pin has a little piece that sticks up to latch in box. I need the latch in the box. What do they call this type of box----Thank you

    • @50plusdad-uk
      @50plusdad-uk  2 місяці тому

      most of these type of connectors work in the same way, as long as you have the lock off (if fitted) you just need to lift the little hammer or peg away from the terminal and gently pull the cable out.
      Depending on the type you have some locks pull out the end and others release from the side and might just need to be held in. reply with make and part number if you can and i'll take a look to see what's going on with yours.

    The problem with all of these connectors used in the auto industry is there is no standard. Basically they should all be similar and they are not. Every manufacturer has their way of manufacturing connectors. The locking mechanisms suck! and the connectors are all plastic and become brittle and break very easily over time when disturbed. This video is easy because the connectors are new and not in the vehicle. This all becomes way more complicated when there is no room to work.

    Yes but before any of that, you absolutely must know what type of connector you're dealing with in order to determine what type of detent mechanism it uses. Otherwise you'll spend hours on end and usually destroy either the jacket or the pin. Ask me how I know.

      I feel your pain, it's even better when you're upside down elbows deep in dashboard trying to feel what you can't see 🤣

    Can I ask you a serious question. Why can't you anyone show a single pin superseal amp connector 1.5 removal. Especially the removal of the red piece on the female side. Why is everyone so scared of this. It's no where on the internet. Look.

      @50plusdad-uk i finally got it. It took me 2 years on and off to find the special tool needed to remove the female locking cap. I'm never losing this thing.
