I wish we still had sims like that today. Complex, yet still approachable. Realistic in the tactical sense, while not merely a rivet counter's cockpit switchology simulator.
VTOL VR hits that spot quite well IMHO. But it doesn't come with a lot of content "out of the box", but there's a good amount in the Steam workshop. The thing just is, many don't have VR yet or maybe don't want to get it for various reasons and that pancake mod still has a few issues.
same here man, i have Tiny Combat Arena for a nice simlite approach but stuff still isn't really there yet as it's early access, VTOL VR hits the spot and i love it but sometimes i don't wanna have VR on all day lol, wish the only option wasn't only DCS because i'm not dropping gazillions on a HOTAS for one game
I started playing it again after almost 30 years just a couple if weeks ago and am totally hooked again. I have 3 boxed copies of it, 2 original version & the v2 version, plus the official guide to it as well. I have just discovered EF2000 reloaded... love this sim.
Oh I wish DCS upcomming Eurofighter module will be done correctly, can't wait to fly this fighter plane again (nostalgia here for EF2000) while playing this old, but superb OST in the background.
Well, even though Falcon 4 campaign is regarded superior for a reason (there is no ground war in EF2000), the one with EF2000 came out in 1995 while Falcon 4 in 1998.
For the time DID made this - awesome! Not too complex but absolute immersive! I still have a copy running in DOSBox. They tried to evolve with "Eurofighter Typhoon" which could not bring the game back to life in my opinion since it focussed on squadron management and lacked the immersive gameplay of the predecessor. I had hours, weeks, if not months of gameplay in this game. What a pure gem! Thanks for sharing these memories :)
Man.. this was one awesome simulator. First time I tried it was on a 486 and ran like crap. Then later had it on a Pentium 200 and it ran like magic. Still one of the best and immersive sims I ever played.
Yeah, I played it first on Pentium 75MHz. It run mostly fine in VGA mode, in SVGA it was a slide show. I remember running it on friends PC (IIRC Pentium 166Mhz) - you could play in SVGA on that machine pretty comfortably (DOS version).
Wow. It’s a pity that I got arcade F-22 from Navalogic back then, and not this cool thing. Looks much better and realsitic. How's it going with physics there?
DID games were considered the most realistic flight sims at the time of their release. F-22 from Novalogic was pretty simplistic in comparison in almost every repsect. Simple flight model, basic AI, limited armament, scripted missions. EF2000 was the benchmark for realistic flight sims when it came out.

That Win95 is LOADED with hot stuff, great 🤘 Thanks for the amazing EF ride 💯

Me too, especially when we will be also getting North Cape map soon.
The campaign is just so great... people always talk Falcon 4 when it comes to dynamic campaigns, I think this one here is a tad better even.

imagine this... having an Amiga and watching your friend running this on a pc....
Well that was a blast from the past. Forgot I had that decades ago..

Damn! Thanks for the memories! Spent an awful lot of hours on this sim. Loved the campaign! Just wished it had a ground war.
I hope someday we will have this on Steam or GOG.
Great stuff, I still have the CD version of this game.

Prob my fav sim off all time. This game was so immersive.
You should play Strike Fighters 2
Wspaniała gra.❤
I still have the disc 😉
Same style of f22 raptor
If you mean the F-22 Raptor from Novalogic, then I guess it looks similar, but there is definately more depth in DID games (EF2000, F-22 ADF/TAW).
