Didn't have issues with the Rubino pro's but switched to Conti GP 5000's for the decreased rolling resistance. Love your commentary vids, reminds me of my old racing days. Keep up the great work!
In a world where "aero is everything" and that we "need" the latest and greatest, your original presentation of the F1 was such an eye opener. That being said if felt was presenting you, as a crit racer with a bike I would have expected it to be on a dedicated aero bike like the AR instead. You mention wanting any aero benefits you can get, any reason you haven't made the switch to an "aero bike"? I noticed a team mate (Matt?) rides an emonda it appears. Love the vids good luck on upcoming season!
Aero is important, but weight is too, especially when climbing or accelerating like in a technical crit. In either case, the difference between flagship bikes and the mid-tier bikes becomes more noticeable at higher speeds. Fitness, strategy and bike fit are all more important though, so make sure you have those dialed first.

I ride 28 Zafarrio they eat glass & 90 degree bumps that would normally cause pinch flats, oh & they're the hard case/non-folding type too. These tires are absolutely bomb proof for CT roads.
It's funny, I've had awesome luck with the Pro IIIs, then they went to this "G-tech" and they seem to roll heavy and flat often (in my experience). My experience with Conti GP-4000 and Gators is they're grippy for a short while then harden. I was on relatively new Gators in the rain (ironically on the trail he's riding) when I took a switchback and the front slid out like I was on ice. I loved the GP-4000 back when I raced but won't touch a Conti again. Just got a Masi Evo with Kenda tires and they seem fantastic so far.
I have the rubino endurance with the extra layer of puncture resistance and have NOT had 1 issue. Not the fastest tire though. I'm happy with these training tires.

Thank you for this review ! I'm currently shopping for a new bike and this bike caught my attention along with the Giant TCR Advanced Pro 1 Disc. Both bikes are about the same price but the Giant comes with a power meter. Do you have any thoughts on the Giant ?
Hi Jeff - I'm considering the FR as well and am the same size as you - 72.5" tall and lanky. Their fit guide puts me into a size 58, just curious why you chose the 56? Also do you think it would fit tires any larger than 28s for the occasional gravel event? This would mainly be my road race bike but I may be tempted to do BWR. Lastly, any issues with the bottom bracket? Thanks for the info!
Jeff - exactly how tall are you and what's your inseam? I see you're riding a 56 and I am curious because I think we are built similarly. I am riding a 58 (and my canyon is a Large which is like a 57) and sometimes feel like I could size down but am concerned about dropping the stack height too low. I’ve got the Rubino pro tires and they have 0 puncture resistance. This last month alone, I’ve gotten 5 flats and only one was a pinch flat (my fault for being dumb) I don’t trust these tires at all anymore and it sketches me out when riding descents. I always have anxiety that I’m gonna get a puncture while ripping down a hill. Will definitely be switching the tires soon
