I’d normally ask for a wall guide, but I’m glad you’ve covered this. Rock renewability, never spoils, great for healing in mass numbers, perfect for taking down to the caves for backup food. It’s perfect.
that mini guide reminded me once again how clever klei is with making renewable sources in the constant i made a new world and had a problem finding rocks above ground resulting in me making a second base when spring came in the caves, but i guess thats another alternative i did not think about
I built my base near a straight line i always thought it might be a passege to Lunar island but i always hesitated but now since you showed a straight map corner like mine has im going to sail and get those bushes
My friend and I recently got a spawn where the lunar island is connected to the main land. So we got Stonefruit trees basically immediately, which was amazing
The world we’re currently playing isn’t connected, but it’s one boat length away immediately below the spawn area. We’re stupid and didn’t notice it until the spring though
Unless i missed it there is one thing i noticed you may have missed. Any seed you get and plant from the stone fruit never has to be fertilized ever unlike the transplanted ones. Also an ice flingomatic seems to speed up the grow cycle a tad when left running. The next things may just be just chance but while using maxwell's little helpers i get 1 seed per 60 fruit opened also it seems to have a higher probability when opening them at night.
Other tips to add, you can use the weather pain on stacks upon stacks of stonefruit to mine a bunch up instantly. Do this in a penned off area with moleworms, and they will collect the rocks for you, and you can just dig the burrows up to collect those when you need. Also, sprouting stonefruit never needs to be re-fertilized as long as it has not been dug up.
The latter is something everyone will get immediately themselves and the other bits are not something most players are going to do but yes, you do you I suppose!
True, problem is it's not a reliable source nor something everyone can get to. I still get people telling me all the time that they cannot run the caves.
this is completely true! the lunar grotto will drop stone fruit during earthquakes. visiting the lunar islands is actually completely unnecessary now (save the initial trip to learn the blueprints) since you can get glass and fruit from the grotto!
On the subject of something remotely close to seafaring, Klei could do more with ocean content. Perhaps some kind of tropical things, oceanic caves & ruins, boat models, warrior/salt cave creatures, world generation types (DLC) and more. There is a lot of potential for the future of it. Merry Christmas by the way 🎄
Lol I pretty much always rush island in first autumn to get both Stone Fruit bushes AND Kelp Stalks, after I have those I only ever need to acquire meat.
So I have a question, the sprouts, when you plant one, do they count as never been "dug up"? Someone told me once that new saplings for stone bushes made from the sprouts count as place of origin when they are planted and therefore never need fertilizing. Was just curious if that was true since in theory you would never actually need to dig up the bushes, you'd just need to be patient enough to get lots of sprouts and plant those instead somewhere else.
Gunpowder can break any number of stacks of stonefruits, so long as those are in stacks of 10.. I once mined 20 stacks of 10 of stone fruits, for a total of 200 pieces, with only one gunpowder..
@@TheBeard777 it’ll be kind of a pleasant surprise to the ones that discover! I make for certain I have a valuable amount in all my worlds, so much you can do to benefit off of them!😁
I wonder if season plays any part in fruit chance. I was playing yesterday and cracked open a full stack during spring and only got 1 rock and 1 seed and the rest were all food. Couldn't see anything in the file for the fruits themselves but that doesn't mean the math rules they reference don't have seasonal factors in their respective files.
Can i request, literally "how to play DST" step by step summary of your video... For beginner... Why? Because, DST at steam always do discount... I have a few friend, which i "poison" to buy and play DST... They mostly buy, but didn't play it... And they excuse is "didn't understand" and some said, if there any guide good enough to make them understand how DST work they gonna play...
Literally always try to rush the islands just for these trees, they are so handy
I wish i had done that
Look like guacamole
edbert dharmawan they look more like avocado that has been split in half but they can be used in the guacamole recipe
The real value of stone fruit comes from the stone it drops, rather than the food
your an rock slime
Exactly! Stone fruit bushes are so underrated.
TBF, if you summer base in the caves, you’ll get lots of rocks from earthquakes + boulders (that break into rocks) from antlion
@@shreyamishra6310 do u wanna play??
Theres a slime in the base!

So grateful for this video cuz people on public servers MIGHT stop asking, "hacks??" every time someone uses these

Ooh I hadn't tested on sprouting Stone fruit since I only had limited space for it. Ill replace them once I have enough of em.
Thank you Beard, if it weren't for you, i still wouldn't have passed past day 30(571 days is my current limit).
its possible for stone fruit to fall from the celing when theres an earthquake in the lunar cave thing
Good question

I didn't know that about Slurtle slime and Lunar Bushes are among the best food in the game. I will save so many pickaxes

Beard, what do you want the boating to be? Ie- what would you do with it?
Shipwrecked style solo boats? More stuff in the ocean?
I'm curious.

They don't need fertilizing, no.

Weather pains are fun to use on stacks of stone fruit too xD
Hey Beard, can you do mosquito guide. I realy want to know what is the bets use for mosquito sacks.
Don’t forget the seed from that 1% chance, if you plant that on the ground, it’ll grow forever without a fertilizer
Yup, that is known and if it isn't folk will catch on fast. Hence why it wasn't a big part of the video.
About time you made a video about em
Tonight is Christmas Eve, so to every Christian watching this, Merry Christmas!

Nice video my fellow bearded man.
Hey, thanks!
let's eat some stones, rocks and boulders.
also be careful about using bombs to open stone fruit stacks as too many can lag and potently crash the game
You forgot to mention that the stone fruit that you get from the seed never needs fertilization
That is easily discoverable by anyone who does it themselves, not something worthy of a quick mention when people will realize it immediately.

Nah, that's all just pure luck.
I agree bruh it is a good strat
I just died on my dst World and I respawned on the lunar island with my entire inventory. this may be bcs I tried to rollback when I died in the caves
That's... that's a new one. 0_o

Can you plant and grow the sprouted seed in caves?
If there is natural light plants can grow, yes, even farms.
I never found the lunar Island, not even in my 200 days World, myb im too lazy, happy christmass btw ^^
The Beard u forgot to mention if u put 4 of them in a crock pot u will get ratatouille from it !
I mean, any veggies in a group is going to be able to do that. That is not a stone fruit exclusive.

Is it just me or does anyone else wish stone fruit was used to make moon pies
Somehow I found a stone fruit on the ground in a grassy field. Had no idea what it was, but thanks for telling me
are they in the caves or the overworld?
on Lunar Island
Only way to get one or two at a time in the caves is with an earthquake within the Lunar Grotto, so it isn't worth mention.
Hey i have world wich the lunar island connected with dragon desert, its just strange, did any one else?
Sometimes the Lunar Island merge with the normal world
