Huh...well, that was pretty interesting. Guess he ain't so generic after all. Well then, curious to see who the Warlord will be based on...at least outside of a Viking chieftain seeing as the Warlords are considered the "nobility" of the Vikings in For Honor.
When I saw Raider for the first time I immediately thought of the Viking berserker at the second battle of Stamford Bridge. The one that held off the entire english army while the rest of Hardrada’s army had time to put on armour, this implies that the Berserker himself likely wasn’t fully armoured.
you give raider the chainmail armor set and the hundingsbane helm or any the other helms with a chain coif round the mouth you have a close resemblance to a housecarl/huskarl.
I graduated highschool on the year 2023, and my english professor read with the class Beowulf, the first half of the school, and in the second half of the school year, we read The Alchemist. Beautiful stories and treasures of literature. 3:07
In regards to raiders and their lack of armor. Berserker or berserkir means bear-shirt. Basically the berserker tribe that worshiped the bear wore bear pelts. But it was once mistranslated to mean bare-shirt or no shirt. This translation has been largely abandoned but it might've inspired the raider.
I always think raider was related to houscarl an9ther idea was the raider and his relationship with stigandr being tht stigandr is a jarl and he was taken away the people of his clan took to listen to our raider showing tht their is something mor to them and maybe even having a close connection to warlords
My i add that there is a clip of modern Norwegian Soldiers chanting "Til Valholl" that you can find on youtube. All of what you said about the Norse fighting spirit rings true to today.
As cool as it would be, it's not likely, Ubisoft has done quite a bit of running AWAY from Christianity, because it's not okay to be Christian in current year. InB4 I'm Christian, I'm just observing that it's not exactly popular to be Christian
@@dr.calibrations7984. You're talking out of your ass. They don't have to go for Christianity, especially considering most religions are apparently dead in the For Honor universe, though that be explained by saying that the Cataclysm dealt with religious organizations much like it dealt a huge blow to the human population.

The Housecarls where specifically a Danish institution started by Canute. His original Housecarls where comprised of Varangian guard veterans and carried with the discipline they had learned in fighting in Greek Roman armies. That being said no other Norse texts or histories mention Housecarls except the Danes and specifically for Canute. The Saxons inherited the system after Canutes death, not even the original Danes kept it in use for as long as the Saxons. Do note that most of the Housecarls we read about in history would’ve been Christian soldiers rather than pagan ones, as the north was almost entirely christianized by 1066.
@@RavenKnightYT. That's gonna be a fun one, especially since the new guy was apparently set to be the new Pharaoh before the Cataclysm, which means he's likely over 1000 years old. Funnily enough, here in the spanish translation we have Warlord named Huscarl
He was my first hero played for 10 reps before I played any other hero since season 0

It's just a shame that the chainmail hauberk is vacuum sealed to his muscles.
Yep, that's exactly what I did when the chainmail armor came out
If only the chainmail dropped in scavenging and boxes. Literally opened over 100 of them and still no chainmail and I’m rep 38 raider. Disgusting
