- What class is best in Chivalry 2? What class is the worst!? That one is easy, it's archer. We made a guide to every class in Chivalry 2 in hopes that you'll choose something other than Archer, because the world is a beautiful place filled with so many more weapons than bows and arrows. I preferred the spear but other standouts were the polehammer, the messer, the war axe, and the two-handed hammer.
There are 4 main classes with each breaking down into 3 subclasses. Archers have low health, naturally, and access Ranged and small weapons. Vanguards deal high damage and are very fast but have low health. Footmen are basically support, with medium health, speed, and stamina. Knights are the tanks. They have a ton of health but are also the slowest class.

This game wouldn’t be complete without archers 🙄 Archers have been getting hate since the invention of the bow. No difference in ps4 achievements, I play as an archer 99% of the time and have my 2000 kill achievement. Thank you for being happy for me. 😢
As soon as an archer lands a hit on me, the rest of the match becomes me flanking the enemy and taking out their archers by any means necessary.
It's like The Incredible Hulk Rage, nothing else matters.

Nothing ruin the mood as the archer(that you don't even know where he is) kills you after you killed 3 people and survive with like 20 hp.

Wish the Vanguards were actually glass canons. Because of the damage bonus that axes and blunt weapons get to footman and knights, vanguard are often equally tanky to the other classes.
That's totally correct and I agree. Their "effective health" is nearly the same against blunt and chop damage. I'm still waiting for an ambusher buff...
I feel like the pole man special will be useful when they add horses into the game

Party within teams like battlefield would be nice especially if you had option to spawn on them
Yeah at least just the ability to voice chat within your squad or party would go a long way.
I love playing as a longbowman, it’s just that most archers don’t play the objective and pick off stragglers from a distance. I love being an archer in darkforest and providing fire support to the advancing knights

It’s funny and infuriating to watch all of my teammates beeline to the closest enemy from spawn and completely ignore the objective.
You have half the team trying to win and the other half dealing absurd amounts of team damage trying to take out one guy near spawn.

I usually play vanguard with a great sword and when I come across an archer, my running attack can one-shot them and seeing them clammer to change weapons as I strike them brings me joy
I love the Great Sword just for the fantasy of it.
Love your video my dude. Feels like given how much success in this game comes down to context, a lot of the tips videos are just focussed on explaining the base mechanics that the tutorial does, but I like how you went for more of an opinion based breakdown, while still covering the literal differences between subclasses etc. It’s helpful and appreciated, cheers!

When you get good at melee, archer becomes fun again actually. I'm usually 1st in the lobby as melee, as archer I can never put up numbers like that, so I focus more on "useful" objective stuff. Its a fun change of pace. Sucking at the game, and playing archer as a crutch will def stop you from having fun.
100%, close range crossbowman is actually fun. I still prefer diving headfirst into 20 people and staying alive for 20 seconds, but I feel you.

Much appreciated! I didn't want to get too in-depth just but I'm sure new opinions will start coming up soon. For instance Ambusher is seeming a lot stronger than I expected
I feel that Javelin Archers are more fair and fun to play, as you can get into the battle and hurl Javelins at your enemies. The fair part comes when you could actually block their shots and have a good ole fight with em.
I agree with just about everything you said about the guardian. Those banners are a really good buff, and that shield makes holding the front lines much easier. Probably my favorite class, but it’s like the only one I played so far, so who knows?
I love both shield classes. Found myself playing footman - Man at Arms most lately because the sword is so good.
The only time I enjoy playing archer is when I just chuck javelins across the map then sprint at people with a knife and it surprisingly works most of the time
I got chivalry 2 a couple days ago and my brother and I have been playing it almost every day. It’s such a fun game. Thanks for this video bro

@@GrapeReason Appreciate all the info... i've been grinding footman trying to get the one handed spear cause i heard it's gross.. haven't used my knight since i unlocked the messer but i heard that's OP too so now i'm just trying to get both my classes set up
@@dronaldtumpf9224 The one handed spear is pretty great but mainly because stab animations are so hard to read. Messer and Spear (and my favorite the one handed sword) all benefit from crazy stab damage, and since stab animations kinda busted right now, so are those weapons.

I really enjoy skirmisher. It doesn't feel like archer. But it needs more stamina, and maybe a 100-110 base health to take it out of one shot range from basically every weapon in the game
It's definitely its own class and needs some buffs related to its individual playstyle.

Skirmisher is one of my favorite classes. Including the engineer and ambusher.
Skirmisher is great for supporting groups of teammates (so long as you can time your shots to avoid team damage)

Man at Arms is definitely a hilariously fun class to use you get a shield and a super fast weapon
It's become my best class, my tryhard goto with the one handed sword.
I have tried everything other then archer. I keep coming back to the knight. I'm can't decide if I like a shield and one-handed or just a big two-handed weapon. But the plays I've done with knight have been so fun. I can take on 4 or 5 people and win. The swing radius on the big axes is so much fun. My favorite is the 'Q" ability with two handed, you can crush/kill someone in one glorious hit. It makes coming to rescue friends so much fun when you smash the crap out of an unsuspecting enemy with their back to you. Speaking of archers, if I can get in range of an archer there's a 99% chance I will kill it. One or two hits with a two-handed axe and it's dead.
I really like sword and shield, but I've been playing footman sword and shield. The giant weapons are super fun though.

Oil flask is very strong when used right. You throw it behind team fights so that low health enemies back up into it. You can reliably get 2 kills that way and my best has been 5 with one flask. Just like in Mordhau.
What you didn´t mention for the ambusher is that you can one shot people with the dagger special. It´s still not that great but pretty fun thing to try out.
Both good tips. I should have been specific that oil flask is a nightmare to aim on console. I'm sure you could do well with a mouse.
I have the most fun with the man at war class I believe, the regular sword is so fast and it’s heavy hit is really tough lol, when I’m down n out throw the shield let out a battle cry and go to Valhalla

@@GrapeReason I switch between half of the subclasses depending on how I'm feeling and how the game is going like Man at Arms if there's archers etc. The classes are so well balanced imo. My favourite is Raider rn with dane axe and messer, Poleman in 2nd. My only problem is that none of my friends have the game :(

I've been using Dane Axe + flex weapon so I can throw the Dane Axe for that ridiculous damage it does, Man at arms for just diving into a sea of enemies, and Poleman Spear because it's just so fun. What platform do you play on? We are really looking forward to crossplay parties... Being on PS5 means you know no one with a ps5.
@@GrapeReason I love throwing that big axe lol. Yeah crossplay parties will be good, I play on Xb1 which already has cross-gen parties. The roadmap for the game is looking good, I'm looking forward to horses the most as well as new maps

I think the Footman's hunker-down is decent. The thing is that you don't need to play guessing games because it blocks from all(and/or most?) angles, so you can use it really aggressively like a Dark Souls parry. It depends on the situation if it's worth it. The damage is punishing enough to be concerned about, though be careful about kick-happy people.
It will truly shine when they add horses. It's an ok surprise mid combat but because of the Sprint system, at least on controller, it feels awful to do accidentally.
Ive the best method for the oil flask is too take a step back from the frontline, and launch the b**** over to the enemy rear. Less friendly damage, and a decent chance of catching those fleeing or joining the fight.

As an Archer (just got the game) I kinda time the dance moves between two people battling and once the enemy backs up I let a shot go. The worst is when two archers start shooting at each other from across the battle field, wastes a lot of time and arrows.
Kreigsmesser is a bit broken right now. It’s almost as long as the greatsword (zweihander) and it attacks quicker. Especially the stab attack
Yeah, I agree. I discounted it because 55 dmg doesn't translate to fewer swings over 50, but the moveset and speed is too good.
Messer is bad most broken weapon is the baxe and the one handed sword
@@predict0518 I haven't messed too much with the baxe but I 100% agree about the sword. It has no right doing this much damage as a 1 hander.

Archers can be pretty aggressive on a medium range, with a longbow. But yeah, it's annoying to get shot by archers.

You missed the main draw of the raider subclass - the 2 weapon slots. This mean you should be throwing a ton of weapons, picking up discarded ones off the floor and throwing again. You can deal a ton of damage that way.

I prefer being a combat archer, get up closer, and hit your shots or your knife will be the only thing between you and your enemy, hitting you shots up close is surprisingly easy, and it's way more fun, dangerous, but fun.
Aggressive archers get a pass from me. You aight!

I like archer players. It's a really good feeling cleaning the enemy backline with my friends since no archer players actually know how to handle themselves in melee combat, especially when outnumbered lmao. Free kills.

Me and my friend refer to killing archers as tunnel vision. It is apart of our law that you must focus an archer at all costs. We usually go 100 plus takedowns and around 75 kills to 9-12 deaths but it’s worth ruining all that just to kill an archer
Ha! We call it horse blinders, but same thing. Also, we've been calling them Larry's. Don't ask me why, just some player named LarryTheLump kept killing us on archer in the beta and now they are all Larry's.
I play vanguard and archer mainly. And yea people hate archers lol but I love that especially when they yolo me and I pull out my short sword and beat them in melee combat.

the archer class is a alot of fun if you can relax and dont let being haunted down by all the enamy team turn you into a salt trader ...its going to happen a lot...people always hate the archer due to how we make our liveing
I like hating the archers, I wouldn't ever want them removed. But I also love running through 20 enemies just to bonk the archer.

Surprising good spear players are the only ones I have trouble with playing the Guardian with the short one hand axe and shield. Mercs almost every two handed class with the right block.. the spearman are really tough though dodging
@@mattsomeonewithansrt3948 Wow Axe and Shield eh? I've been loving Sword and Shield Footman as well as Spear. I like the extra movespeed since the Large Shield really slows you down.
Whenever I encounter a spearman I always look for teammates. If they’re not there, i try to get out of the situation. Spearmen are a pain to face one on one.

i like archer class alot, even with it's melee disadvantages I just find it truelly a fun role play for midevil times , alot of the time if someone gets to close to me I always have a guy that jumps Infront of me like a tank and takes there attention then I can lob arrows into there side or pull my dagger out and act as a rouge support to my tank, feels like how a real midevil battle would go, archers are just as important and are protected but archers watch there knights and footmens backs aswell 💪🏽👍🏽
Winning a melee fight on Archer is oh-so satisfying too! We only hate on archers for the memes, it wouldn't be a medieval war game without them.

Hey I saw you post about this video on a Reddit post that you recorded natively via your PS5. Can I ask how you then edited the video like is there a way to get the PS5 video into a USB or something and then move that to a PC also with the mic is that a headset or a separate mic into the Ps5 sorry for all these questions just planning on starting YT
No problem, so I used the Share button on PS5 (and you can set record length or record the last X minutes. Then you can either use your PS5 mic to record audio and do simple edits in Sony's editor app (which is not bad, but has serious limitations) or copy it to a USB drive and do the editing on your PC with voice over recorded on your PC.
Personally, I prefer to edit in Davinci Resolve. It's free and has amazing features while being easy to learn.
@@GrapeReason wow thank you so much for replying! That means a heck of a lot. I was trying to decide whether to get a laptop and external capture card linking that all up to the PS5. But first I'll try and see what it's like recording with a USB mic or 3.5mm mic connected to the PS5. If I'm not happy with that then yeah I'll record voice directly to a laptop but still just record the gameplay with share
@@tyluild I would definitely recommend recording audio on PC just because you can set up equalizer settings and filters and make your audio sound better. I know a lot of comments on this video mentioned the audio being low quality (and I agree), but the video quality from recording with the share button is very good.

It's wild I literally stream my PC games but I never thought something so simple for the PS4 rather than always moving it from my living room tv to my PC area. That's hassle every time, but now I know of the laptop for audio but share record option, thank you I feel foolish for never thinking of it before. I'll probably record the audio with Adobe audition then edit it all with DaVinci or Premier pro.

Thanks did the vid, how do you change weapons while your in a match? Short of picking them up off the ground.
In the menu, change class, and then each class has 4-8 weapons they can use, you choose from that menu.

@@banelokken9806 yeah it unlocks based on your overall class level, not main level so you can play any vanguard class and unlock all their weapons
Every class is the same besides the archer classes. Skirmisher is the most fun because it mixes melee with high damage range and u have a shield.

I love playing archer, its basically become my go to troll game. learned a while ago that people will try to hunt down archers when they get mad. so i found a simple action to combat that, that just to move after every kill/assist i get. and if they do get close, i dont even bother taking out my secondary, I am usually with my team and i just smack em with my bow till my team kills them.
boy do i love feeding off the hate people give to archers. especially those that get mad at archers in chat when i am playing another class. I just switch to archer to piss them off some more. trolling is fun. lol
also most people who complain about archers are usually the ones who cant play it. something very satisfying when you hit a man from 70-100 yards with a bow.

Some games I’ve played have been fun but today I’ve given up and gone off. Played as archer got absolutely obliterated. Played as melee. Same thing.

I just had an 106 TD, 87 kill, 20 death game with the Greatsword. It's easily my favorite

@@GrapeReason The 360 swing rotation on the greatsword may get rebalanced at some point but I had a penta kill on one power swing.
I kinda wish that they had more diverse ults.
Giving the poleman a horn since they are most comfortable at just out of reach of a team fight providing support via extra poke damage, helping to fortify, ect.
Give man at arms the med kits since they in my experience tend to be more about tracking down vulnerable/alone targets (especially archers) and taking them out, so the ability to heal on the go feels well suited to that role while still being supportive in nature.
Give the field engineer a banner to play into the idea of making a strong fortified location mid fight for your team to get some respite inside. Also let them restock buildings. They literally have sacrificed a secondary for this, let it be a thing. Cause you can get them back via death so it just encourages you too build die then start playing..... It's just kinda dumb.....
Absolutely agree. The entire footman class all having medkits isn't great, and I would love to see more varied abilities, even further from what we already have.
For instance, I would love if engineer got some kind of placeable ballista or something that really went with their "we fortify this area" theme.
@@GrapeReason true. Though I would rather see something more like potentially being able to repair or reenforce your buildings to make them tankier. Something less damage based, since archers tend to swarm to your walls. If anything I'd like to see 2 walls and 2 traps, Even if you are nerfed to only 2 buildings at a time. If you wanted to push it then maybe even three of each. Especially bear traps since they are very one and done.
If I had to guess why they all have med kits it's probably because they charge their alt by healing but that could be changed. Like engi charging from either damage taken/delt by your buildings and/or the damage you deal to buildings.

Nice!! That's exciting. I agree, I would like ambusher to be based around moving and flanking and less about throwing knives. A move speed ability would be lovely.

I feel like everyone is sleeping on the Knight Guardian Subclass's One handed Warhammer. 75 light dmg, 105 Heavy dmg, 120 Special attack. Also get a shield and banner so, it's my go to.

Yeah I would agree with that. Ambusher is really fun regardless and I will definitely play it more. I like the idea of the playstyle, but it needs a better class ability and more throwing knives, IMO.

Ambusher is a ton of fun. Taught me how to properly counter/riposte and stay alive since all you have are secondaries.

Classic choice, I think since this video the messer was balanced more so it's a chivalrous choice.
Just use the shovel. If you use anything else you might as well be throwing air at the enemy.
The Shovel Knight video is coming. It's so strong, and we missed out on it's power in the beta. We thought we would use "you have to shovel" as a joke punishment class when we rage and it was surprisingly powerful.
I really like using the sledgehammer. I was surprised to find out how good it was. Also, creating a funnel with the barricades and putting a bear trap at the end of it is fun. Almost everyone gets caught by it.
I just got this and I think with horses now in play the plant the spear might just have a use now. Is it practical no is it funny as hell to get a kill with hell yes.
One problem with me, is I always think I’m Jon snow on the battlefield
I always end up Jon Snow as well, they kill me and I come right back for revenge.
What if they made blades do extra damage to vanguards since there not as armored as the other classes to help ne f them
I think that would be good, vanguard is too good imo.
I tried the archer but got bored cause I kept either missing or shooting my own teammates lol

Can't disagree with the critique hahaha. The Arctic 7 headset mic was not cutting it but the Elgato wave-3 didn't arrive in time to record the audio. Next video, the premiere of the upgraded audio setup!
It's better 1st or 3 person?
On console, it's easier to fight multiple enemies in third, but harder to counter and read enemies. First person is better for 1v1/2 situations but the Field of View is rough.
Does anyone know how to throw your sword with a shield in your hand? Also does anyone know how to equip your shield to your back?
You will always throw your left hand before your right hand, unfortunately. I'm also unsure how to put it on your back like the tooltips suggested without changing to a throwing knife or something.
Select your one handed weapon again. If it's on keybind 1, press 1 again.

Crossbow is insane! You can farm kills so easily 🤙🏻
It's so good. If you get good enough you can even handle knights close range while dodging their attacks.
