Hey man, I just found out about your channel, so far I like what you've been doing.
As a mechanic who owns 2 Mercedes ( 2006 E55 AMG and 2010 GLK 350 ) and the STAR diagnosis scanner, I'm kinda impressed by your little scanner. You really shouldn't worry about all the fault codes, even my 2010 has plenty lol.
A little comment based on the couple videos I've watched, I found it quite annoying how you seemed to like talking about money you make, money you don't have, money you borrow, money you need to fix things, etc. Seriously, keep your finances out of UA-cam, focus on the cars and repairs, that's what we like!!
    You've got yourself a subscriber!!
I own all the Mercedes related software, if you ever need instructions or whatever about the car, don't hesitate to PM me the VIN and I'll do my best to help you out!
    Thank you & good luck.

I know of disagree I think it's quite refreshing that he talks about how much he spent on the car. It's like Hoovies garage I think one of the major appeals is the honesty. Obviously, he should only say what he feels comfortable with and if he isn't comfortable saying something he should hold it back. With regards the scanning tool I agree for a Mercedes this is very impressive for 250 bucks. However, as someone else said this might not be able to remove the codes. Also, alot of these codes don't seem that serious you seem to have really lucked out on thus car. When I seen the first video I was gutted for you when I seen the abc fault as you were si excited. But, as it turned out it was only low fluid. This is a great channel I'm glad I found it. Oh and as other's said make sure the spheres are working correctly.

Pull the fuse for the door lock pump for 5 minutes, then reinstall it. The pump has an internal cutoff if it runs too long. Pulling the fuse resets that. If that does not get the pump running, I suggest pulling it and inspecting it. If you remove the left side trunk cover, it lives in a foam box almost directly above the LR tire.

Check for rodent damage to the main wire harness where it passes through the firewall and other hidden locations. Usually such electrical issues are attributed to that on many cars that have sat unused.

Neighbor who works on cars says B1867 air bag check as follows. Disconnect battery. Remove left door panel. Look for small black box, air bag. Unplug and check for corrosion in plug. Spray with contact cleaner. Re-attach plug, re-attach battery. Clear code. If it comes back need airbag module. Ebay sells some under $100. Common problem, moisture gets in door.

Your airbag problem is likely the clock spring. The squib is by definition a small fire cracker. This is the igniter for the airbag. This code sets when there is no, high, or infinite resistance between the 2 ignition wires for the squib circuit. This is a supervised circuit. Typically there is 2 squib circuits per airbag. A primary and secondary so there is a redundant firing mechanism to help guarantee successful airbag deployment. The clock spring is the thing between the steering wheel and the column that allows the wheel to turn while maintaining and electrical connection to the static components. Static components being defined as components that are not supposed to move.

    • @TheChroniclesOfAnAverageJoe
      @TheChroniclesOfAnAverageJoe 6 років тому

Ahhh, if it's in the seat then it might be unplugged or have some corrosion on the wiring. Those usually suffer a broken wire in the harness though. Not too difficult to repair. If it's in the headliner then probably a broken wire. Check resistance on the airbag packages themselves. If there is a low resistance, say 50 ohms or less the package is fine. Then likely a broken wire or corroded connector.

for the airbag as i said last on the last video its the airbag in the DR door but lucky you once i see a circuit high (high resistance) it is 99% the airbag is faulty but seeing that the SRS flashes its not as you move its As the door moves there is a wire damage near the door hinge. the purge solenoid is what you pointed to get it from a junkyard all Mercedes from that era used the same part. as for the rest of the code most of them are STORED except the HRA which you should ignore. try to clear the codes on ignition on and turn completely of while clearing as stored code should be go already. it they are not i hate to say it but your scanner might not be able to remove them and dont worry about them.

R12/20 is the airbag in the drivers door. Since the light flickers when you move I would check the wiring in the door jam for breaks. Also you can unplug the airbag itself and replace it with a 2 ohm resistor for testing, if the fault clears and stays cleared then you know the airbag itself is faulty. Let me know if you need any diagrams for the system I can send them your way.

The door locks and trunk release (and probably a lot of the other bells and whistles on the car) use vacuum as their power source. The car has a separate vacuum pump normally located on the driver's side of the trunk hidden behind the trim. It is common for these pumps to go out and they are expensive to replace. Hopefully its just a leak in the system.

Just bought a CL600 with a bad ABC pump, $348 not bad a pain in the ass it seems to get to the rear bolt, but the alternative would be paying $2600 for a shop. I believe replacing the suspension with an aftermarket coil over system would make the pumps last longer, they seem to go out every 30k miles.

I wonder if maybe, just maybe, somewhere down the line of that "recommended maintenance" the ABC filters were changed & some fluid lost but then not topped back off? After all, if the genuine fluid costs that much there's a significant bonus for the less scrupulous tech/dealer in billing for a filter change/fluid top up and getting away with leaving the level a bit low. Perhaps the car never even "realised" until it got lifted about with a flat battery upsetting the levelling...

Sorry for any confusion I might have caused with the radar detector when you got this car. I was on the wrong track as I couldn't see anything that looked like a radar detector in the car. That item isn't Mercedes factory fit, as radar detectors are illegal in a number of US states they wouldn't be able to get approval to sell the car in the US if it came, or could be ordered with, a factory fitted radar detector. So someone has had that unit fitted, and probably paid a lot for it as it's a very neat installation that looks pretty much factory and is almost unnoticeable from the outside...

Think I would pop the trunk open and pull the wire connecter to the electric release, put a meter on the wires and see if the readings change when you activate it to release. Best I can do for you on this car. From there you can put an alternate power source to the release and see if it works. Suspect fouled wiring junction in the line moving forward as you follow it.

If the SRS light comes and goes as you move around in the driver's seat then that suggests something with the seat occupancy sensor. Those sensors can fail, but most of the time going under the seat and disconnecting and then reconnecting the wiring loom connectors under the seat will sort the problem out. Of course each driver has the seat set for them and, unless the vehicle has multiple drivers, the seat doesn't move until the car gets sold and a new driver takes it on. With this one having sat for some time apparently, it could be that moving the seat when you bought it has slightly upset the connections. I've seen this a fair few times on older cars with driver's air bags and each time having a fiddle with the loom connectors under the seat has cleared it up. What seems to happen is that as the vehicle is used the connectors accumulate general muck, and having the car detailed can add a bit of corrosion to the muck, so when the seat gets moved for a new driver the connector pins move slightly into a position that causes an intermittent connection due to the muck and potential corrosion but releasing and reconnecting the connections will clear the muck and some of the corrosion and re-establish a good connection...

With the fuse issue I would say replace the fuse anyway, with the fuse box being mounted low down the fuses can corrode so although the fuse looks fine it could be it isn't passing enough current due to corrosion on the spades or on the fuse box terminals...

dude i had the SRS light on my car too. it is really nothing and it will be so cheap to fix as well. it is just the air bag has a silk like cover that goes around the steering wheel and it gets cut every now and then by the movement of the steering just replace the air bag on the steering wheel it is a so easy fix.

The fuse - if you can find out which fuse you were supposed to check, I suggest you trace as best you can the wiring from that fuse to the point where it splits to the multiple devices impacted - like as not there is a break. As for the fx4000, I bought one recently to reset SRS on my volvo C70 but it couldn't communicate with any of th car's modules - not one. I sent it back.

Replace all the accumulators "balls" in the suspension. There are 4. 2 unique ones (lr and rf) and two of the same one, rr and lf. Purge valve for ABC? Don't worry about he purge valve. Do a rodeo to reset the suspension, and see what output the tandem pump is pushing out. Fuse isn't blown, thermal protection kicks in and fuse has to be removed and replaced, then the pump will work again.

U avoided a huge hit with the suspension that could have been a 5k fix once the suspension breaks completely the car falls on the floor it gets so low u can’t even drive it cuz the wheels rub. That V12 is another disaster just sell it fast. And don’t even think of an 02-07 bmw 7 series that’s even worse

ive been seeing temps on your dash of like 111 F or 138 F. is it really that hot where you live? or just a glitch?

i'm not so familiar with mercedes cars, i'm a bimmer, and the last code related to A/C is linked to the AAC sensor you repaired, basically it's an automatic control of the air circulation inside the car, regarding the level of CO2 outside (that's why it's under the hood) i had the same issue with my E60
For the blowing seats at the rear, i had the same issue on my e87, it was an air distributor leak (cracked gaskets), some silicone did the trick, if somehow the whole system is a closed circuit that might me be solution, (if the motor has not fried in the process tho).
For the headlight, take it out and check the wiring (maybe pinched ?) or eaten by the rats ? water damage ?
Good luck ! Nice car BTW

My Tele-Aid draining the battery. That destroys the battery. Take to shop to get reset. Deleting might be a pipedream.

sasuke1018 this kind of scanner will give you ECU codes related to a check engine but it won't go in depth and scan all the other modules like the Ancel used in the video.
I agree though it is definitely enough for a begginer. I'd even suggest a 20$ wifi OBD2 dongle with a cellphone app such as Torque.

*Pair of hood struts and blow out the acorns and you're good now. Squib is an explosive they use in movies, that code may mean bthat it detected that your airbag module has a short in it and wouldn't fire in an accident. that's my guess. These European cars are a complete guessing game for me.(didn't want to say they were completely foreign to me, my pun game is stronger than that) did you not wash the engine with the car running?if all of those headrests and trunk lock and such are all connected and not working i would start checking the relays*
