INMOTION V14. I crashed on the second day and smashed my camera, pedals dipping? FIRMWARE BAD?

Highs and lows :) That's how it goes with first wheel woes.
Oh man day2 and crash! For me and the channel that is a new record.
I crashed my V13 crashed in the first week (video on my channel)
This was a downer. The feeling of falling forward is pretty gnarly.
Forward pedal dip, also pretty gnarly. You feel it and you have to decide to bail, or try to ride it out. When it recovers early... WHEW!
It really spikes your adrenalin when you feel a forward dip.
I was not expecting this behaviour on this wheel. I had slowly tested little hops and it all went ok so decided to head to the local pump track.
As far as I can tell and a few others I have asked this seems to be a bad firmware. I updated to the latest firmware as I unboxed the wheel.
Apparently prior to December FW the wheels were jumping fine.
I am still waiting to hear from IM.
It's a good wheel I haven't lost any confidence.
I just needed to upload to keep anyone safe if they are jumping and to show why I'm not going too extreme with the wheel so far and why my camera might look bad for a while :)
Them the breaks.
Please subscribe to keep an eye on my progress with this wheel.
See you next time.
Thanks as always for supporting my channel.
Safe travel!

Damn, that’s terrifying. The high torque is supposed to be one of the Adventure’s strong suits. That’s really bizarre, costly and disappointing. Hopefully, a firmware update, once ready, does the trick. Stay safe, mate!
Heya Trev yea i did think this late into the release the FW would be ironed out enough to hop a little. I want to trust the wheel to give it quite a bit was the plan. Im sure it will be sorted. Still very happy to roll with it, feels really nice to play on.
@@eucaus Just happy you got definitive footage for the dips so it can’t be brushed off. 👏🏼 I appreciate your sacrifice for the good of the EUC community.
We appreciate your sacrifice brother. Being one of the first test pilots has it's ups and downs. Keep up the good work
Thanks man, part of the game :) someone has to find the glitches. Cheers for watching
Thanks man for putting your body on the line for us. I value your feedback and am hoping they resolve the issue they introduced in their latest firmware with the dipping. I want this to be my next wheel for off roading so we will see.
Cheers Quick, It should be a great wheel! just gotta sort that software :) I am sure right now that is happening. Will be a great trail rider I'm sure.
The dipping that you've captured on video is impressive, in a bad way. Were you running the latest firmware?
Totally agree, I didn't want to see it at all. I was really unsure what was happening, only that another user running the same firmware had same problem. You can see some hops it is fine, other hops very not fine. Really weird. I kept re trying as I thought it was my error until I understood what was happening and how heavy it dipped on the playback.
Love the video showing the struggles. Hope you get it all worked out.
Hey thanks Mike, thanks for watching
Good to see all the gear being worn! It doesn't automatically make you a better rider but it definitely saves us from serious injuries and let's us keep riding with some confidence if we do fall we have some protection! Great video, not everyone wants to show their flaws(crashes) in their videos for fear of not looking cool or professional. This video shows the real side of riding, you're gonna takes some falls and it does take courage to get back up and keep riding. Especially when you just dumped your new wheel and get it all scratched up and then you break your camera, phone or whatever on top of it all. Can be an expensive hobby! But it sure is fun!!
Hey thanks for dropping a great comment. Every time I gear up i feel a little more confident to push things.
It was a bitter sweet video post as I am a huge fan of the wheel and didn't want to give any negativity to it. I also want to keep riders safe :)
My blog is trying to be pretty real and show the whole lot. I try not to worry about cool anymore... but EUCing makes everything cooler so it is hard :)
We all fall, sometimes just silly things that happen way too easily, gear keeps us alive for the next roll.
Much rather be up wheeling again than healing.
Yeah, but what about EUC's being the great hope for future pedestrian commuting? It ain't gonna happen, whilst ever they're so flakey that even experienced riders need to gear up like Evel Knievel to stay safe
@@txtworld yeah but at the same time I have 5,000 high speed commuting miles on my master and I almost never wear any gear.
@@deadmonkeyeuc2594 You're an inspiration, but don't tell the Nanny State warriors you're riding without gear ... lest they frown upon you
@@txtworld I'm not talking about riding on paved trails. If you notice he was taking jumps and testing the machines capabilities as well as his own. I use a euc to make all my daily errands and don't gear up for those. For all of that but it's equivalent to wearing a seat belt in a car. You can go through the windshield and die or you can be buckled and live? Daily choices for everyone!
I was just about to do this with my v14 and make a similar video on my channel. Now I’m glad I don’t have to. Thanks for your sacrifice
Hey congrats on your new wheel!
Yes please dont just yet, dont scratch it up like I did so soon.
Dont be a tester and always wait for the second iteration. Stay safe and thanks for the heads up!
Wow that’s crazy, when I got to try it out it definitely didn’t do that when jumping. Sorry that happened but glad you are ok 🤙🏼 hopefully InMotion gets this resolved
Cheers Chris, yea wasn't expecting that at all!
Loving the videos! Really sorry about the dip issue though...I can't imagine having an $800 camera bite the dust due to a firmware issue. You've got such a positive attitude/demeanor, which is super refreshing! I've got a preorder on a Lynx, but I really like the idea of snagging a V14 at some point as well. I hope they deal with this quickly and I look forward to seeing how things go for you with the V14 in the future.
Thanks man, I it sucked :) the camera hurt a lot. It will take me a little to get another I think.
I have to stay positive it is hard but we all need to do it when life tries to smack you :) my new year vibe is to keep moving forward and try to stay positive.
I am like you and think Lynx & V14 is a nice combo.
Hopefully new FW will land soon and I will go jump a little to see.
@eucaus This hobby sure ain't cheap... Between the wheels, pricey safety gear, and breaking stuff, you'll almost need a second job just to pursue it, ha! Thanks again and I'll look forward to your new videos!
geepers, glad you're ok! I think I've given up on 360 camera with the stick in general, as I've spend almost 2k on new ones and repairs!
Hey Zen, thanks for dropping a comment. Yea I hear that figure $$ on insta360's, they are just not a good mix when riding things that can drop balance at any time. I usually put it down when I jump but I thought these little hops would be fine.
Roll safe man, cheers.
thank you for this sharing experience
Cheers Mr. Thanks for watching
Glad I switched my pre order to a LeaperKim. We cannot have wheels doing this when they go as fast as they go.
Lynx will be great :) Congrats. I'm looking forward to mine.
glad i bought the extreme, never dips on jumps ever 4x bigger, sometime i get a tiny tilt back but no biggie
I enjoyed my little roll on the extreme it seemed like a well capable wheel.
I am sure once the FW gets sorted i'll be on the jumps again. Thanks for checking my channel.
They need to test ride new firmware before releasing to the public. This is unacceptable, people get seriously hurt w this garbage.
Mmm yea, I agree I thought this would have been tested for a jump.
Good to know you are fine and sorry for the scratches on your camera. In case it helps, I use Novus2 to fix scratches on my camera lenses and if the damage is not too deep, it does the magic. Great for underwater camera housings as well as any polycarbonate lens.
From the video it does look like a FW or a setting issue.
Did you have the "balance assistant" feature enabled? It is great for climbing but I can imagine it may behave not the best for jumping.
Same with "Pedal Hardness", if set under 60% I can imagine it may behave just like this when jumping. In D mode it should be less responsive than in S mode.
To help Inmotion debug it quickly and make the best of your efforts, I would recommend to test it under controlled environment by changing the settings (S mode, D mode, balance assistant on/off, power assistant on/off, accelerate/brake assist at low mid and high levels, pedal hardness under and higher than 60%, berm mode on/off etc).
Also, I do not know if it is present in V14, but on previous models there is a feature that detects the wheel in the air and prevents it from spinning fast depending on your speed prior the jump. You may narrow some setting where this behavior does not occurs and perhaps find a specific feature that is not suitable for jumps when enabled.
With that information it may be easier to assess if it happened because having not the appropriate settings for the intended type of use, or if it is indeed a FW issue to pin-point where in the code things have to be changed speeding things up.
You are doing already the difficult part. With this extra step, you can maximize the benefits of your hard efforts. Take care and thanks for sharing it. 😉
Thanks for the comment and the tip regarding the lens scratching I’ll look the product up for sure. 👍 Glad to say the V14 feels ok now, FW seems great.
Awesome 😎 thanks brother!!🙏
Cheers Donovan :) fun times
Ouch, that sucks so much :( so sorry to see the lenses scratched too :/
Thanks Adam, yea it does - I know you know! damn 360 cams.
It was a let down. I wasn't expecting it on a small hop.
I still like the wheel i'm enjoying how it feels.
Looking forward to watching your content I saw you just landed yours.
Cheers Adam, great to hear from you.
Excellent job on the safety gear!
This ride was the first ride ever I actually forgot my knee braces. I was so excited for day 2 and to go play I didn't notice. I got close to the pump track and looked down and had to turn back home to pop them on. So glad I did, always worth the time for gear.
Not having trust in your equipment really sucks. Good luck!
Yea I hear that! I rolled on the V14 yesterday and you wonder the whole time, I was worried to even try bumping anything more than a driveway bump.
Greetings from Russia, I'm watching the second day!I like it!
Thanks for watching
Sorry about the crashes
Thanks hey :) me too, part of it I guess. Gear up!
Great video. It's good to see you're still out there doing your thing. I know one of the testers here in the US has a problem with the V 14 as well. I think they determined it to be an issue with one of the hall sensors, but I'm not sure of that. To my knowledge, Inmotion helped him correct the problem and everything was fine after that.
Hey, yea I saw Marty had a hall sensor failure. This on mine seems to me some firmware bug.
Looking forward to them sorting it out asap. Should be a fun wheel in the end
@eucaus I think this wheel has the potential to be a great wheel once they fix all of the little quircks with it. Zen Lee says it has tons of torque. I'm excited about all of the new wheels coming out this year. I think 2024 will be a Renaissance year for sure.
Jesus. That's some disconcerting behaviour.
Yea felt a little sketchy for sure
That's some pretty sketch wheel behaviour
Happy you weren't hurt
Thanks man, so sketchy!
Hopefully they send you a new camera
I'm trying to work out a plan :/ might take me a while I'm paying for wheels atm. I can juggle old cams a little i think, maybe some scratches on the vids for a while.
Interesting! From the slo-mo video, it seems as if the RPM of the motor slows very significantly when it gets airborne…on landing, the forward motion of the rider is much greater that the RPM of the motor, causing a catastrophic dip..In fact in a couple of clips it almost looks like the wheel has pretty much stopped turning when it lands.. It certainly isn’t turning at a speed to match the forward speed of the rider when landing. Obviously, the motor should continue to turn when airborne at the speed it had on takeoff if a safe and seamless landing is to be made, clearly, any variation in motor speed would cause a severe pedal dip or tilt back.
I remember the V12 had a selectable option of.. No Load Detection, which worked like a spin kill….If the wheel detected it had come off the ground, it would cut the power. This allegedly would not / could not work if there was forward motion….However, the option was removed pretty quickly, so I guess there were possible issues with it. Indeed, several riders of the V12 reported slow speed cutouts when riding of loose surfaces and bumpy gravel tracks. I wonder if the V14 problem shown might be similar. …Apologies for the ramble 👍
That's a solid theory. Makes sense, but sounds like a feature that's more trouble than it's worth.
I also think V11 had this spin kill I'll have to check.
Hope they get that sorted with an update! Sucks the new wheel got scratched up...looks like it's built pretty solid though.Another camera...😭
Another camera :(
There is something seriously wrong with that wheel. That’s some really wonky behavior. Good vid. You should send that one back.
Thanks yea a real shame. I kept going just to test it and gather some proof. I kind of couldn't feel what was happening straight away it happened quick so wanted to make sure.
woah dude. scary af
Man feels sketchy on those dips
I’ll stick with my v13 thanks. I’m waiting for the fourth coming v15
I love my V13 I might take it out today
👍
Damn already man!!
Day 2 new record for me :)
tip:
0:53 if you turn the screen sideways (not up) then both lenses are equally exposed to the sunlight and then you dont see these uneven light effect in the stitch-line.
btw I ride my s22 in the default setup except in hard mode. these newer wheels have alot of settings to tweak makes them more complicated perhaps.
Super tip! TY that makes so much sense :) Cheers, I really hate those exposure lines. Great!
The V14 has -
sport/comfort mode
pedal softness
power assist modes.
I am familiar with the settings as I use it on my V13.
I have played with them all on V14 to help dial the feel in.
You are right so much room to adjust things.
if you had insta insurance they could've replace the camera for free. Next time add insurance, I messed up mine and sent it and they fixed it (they just send you a new one). I haven't bought a v14, I have a v13 but wanted a v14 smaller wheel, but I'll just wait.
Maybe it is time to switch to the ACE PRO for me, until the new release of Insta one camera. They say maybe September for the new insta 360 camera (hopefully it is more durable)
Thanks for the tip on insta care insurance, i thought about it.
Glad you're ok but that is a major shame. Not being able to go over a speed bump is highly concerning! May have to ask E-Riderz to not update mine when it arrives this week! InMotion need to help you out. On solid ground, is there a speed at which you feel slightly uncomfortable on the smaller tyre? Oh, if you haven't cracked riding backwards yet I wonder if the V14 will help you out :)
Yea I do not want to deflate the arrival of new wheels. Bitter sweet posting this as I fully understand the excitement of new wheel day, I knew many were landing. I reached out to Eriderz first thing to let them know prior to making a vid.
Inmotion have my log files now so hopefully we find out.
Great wheel, just a bug :) maybe or a glitch with mine.
Nearly backward, can nearly make a full circle. The V14 will make it happen :) so want the reverse gear!
Sorry about the camera. Thanks for testing the early batch wheels for us. 😅
HUGE THANKS FOR THE DONATION!!
Really really helps me, thanks leetNightshade
Someone has to line up for the test :) my turn this time I guess. Glad it was found on these small jumps before someone got really hurt.
Ty so much
Never experienced this with the extreme. I’ve tried both and for my use case I would take the Extreme 3 times over. (Off road, jumps, suspension)
Hey cheers for the comment. Yea I haven't had this on my other wheels. I tested an extreme once and had a little early in the release but I was climbing a small wall of bricks badly at the time.
What the shizzz , brother, thats nuts, i havent had this happen yet, but I need to get it to a pump track asaps , I've had some different issues with the firmware, but not this.
Heya Johnny this was nuts! yes! I know the early FW can give some issues i guess we are the lucky ones.
I'd hold off on the pump track for now... keen though to hear if others find same issue (safely)
Still loving the wheel :)
I hada buddy with the issue and he pointed to this video to show it,, thank god youre ok brother,
be saffe out there my friend.@@eucaus
Too bad about your camera :( I saw Chooch smash his camera on the Extreme when it was new too, and I scratched my insta360 X falling on sudden ice couple of years ago, I never sent it in for a lens swap though just figure I use the good lens side of it for "stunt" shots when I dont feel like using the newer cameras, but if thats the X3 you are using then I do recommend sending it in for a lens swap.
btw v14 looks good, its your old helmet color :)
WOW - THANK YOU! thanks so much for the support with this donation. TY it will really help.
I understand the risks with the insta cam, and the fragility! I have an older X2 I use exactly like you say with one side scratched. It is my go to camera for jumping and extreme stuff but I stupidly trusted this wheel :) so I was using the X3 jumping.
I did think about sending it for repair but unfortunately this time both lenses and touch screen got smashed. It was a good effort :)
Not sure the repair will be worth it this time.
Thanks so much for the contribution to my channel. So great!
Have a great week A-Viking TY
I feel like Inmotion are trying something leftfield for them and the results are flaky right now whereas the lynx design and software is a bit more tried and tested to be safer off the bat
Thanks for the comment. Yea new area for IM into the extreme stuff but I still have confidence in their design. I think the software is what they need to dial in now. Lynx is looking fantastic and I cant wait for mine.
I'm sorry friend, you seem very disappointed in the video. I felt for you....
I tried to mask the disappointment a little but yeah, I was bummed. I waited a long time to get this wheel and wanted to push it hard this day.
Glad I found the bug for now though.
Hey mate sorry to see the stacks, particularly when it seems wheel related.
Is the update forced like some Inmotion updates?
My insta360 took several weeks shipped to hongkong and was $170 but that was covered by the care Is insurance.
Do you use a lens cover or have you thought about it.? seems to mainly be downsides using it but i need one for high risk use or just use the gopro. Although i would never have thought a speed bump is high risk.
Hope you arent too bruised and batted.
This was a dampener on a great wheel experience so far. I really was only just waking the wheel up with very small hops and did not expect this. All the wheels I've rolled would handle that I think.
The biggest problem other than resolution with the insta360 is the fragility. I like go pro and dji and both are more durable. For a quick fast blog the insta is good for my solo rides but yep, this is the second one now.
The x2 i had they made a good lens cover and it saved me heaps, the X3 only has sticky guards which make the vision pretty horrid (even more than it already looks)
Rumours are the new insta onex should drop about Sept. I hope they sort it all out, stronger and better spec and repairable lens cover!
I know you understand the costs of all this, time, pc, software, gear, wheels :) - fun
Roll safe Jon, thanks for watching
@@eucaus indeed I do, although I know you have two new wheels on the way! Perhaps we can develop a wheel review circuit like other countries to ease the costs and make it sustainable for creators.
Sounds intriguing re Onex except more $$ yet again!
you too
I’ve read recently that V14 riders should not be updating to version 2 firmware until the dipping problem is fixed. I don’t know if a reversion to version 1 is possible (others will be more experienced).
I looked on the app I could not see a way to revise via that. I'm waiting for IM to get back to me.
This information keeps getting echoed around every V14 video but as far as I can tell it doesn't have any connection to actual firmware version numbers.
@@s0d4c4n okay, I’m going to delete this post until more verification is made by others.
привет из России ,смотрю второй день!Нравится!
Thanks friend from another world :) appreciate you following along.
looks unridable. surprised you kept going
Yea a wild horse for sure, bucking me the whole time.
Did you try turning off the brake and acceleration assist? Those features seem like a candidate to explore starting with acceleration assist. Also, (without reading any comments yet as i’m lazy today) maybe keep it in sport mode and hard mode (no soft) as that is a candidate as well. Good luck!
I have, I actually cant remember of they were on or off for this roll though. I have used the same assists jumping V13 no problem, I understand this smaller wheel may act differently. We should hear back from the logs soon.
Of course the speedbump is worst for the motor than the small jumps on the pumptrack. It is a hard transition.
Hey Bunny yea I understand what you are saying but this was consistent dips on a few hops.
Hopefully new firmware will fix that
Yea mate i'm sure it will. It feels like a great wheel, just a wild horse at the moment and needs some taming :) I like it
My brother in christ, that wheel is straight up broken. Those crashes made zero sense. Reminds me of v12 issues.
Yea i kept dusting myself off a little confused :) also wondering what was going on each time
I heard its the latest firmware that causing the dipping after jumping which is weird, i advice to wait till a fix comes before attempting to do jumps for safety.
sometimes software update can mess up you wheel, it happens to every brand when there is an unseen bug that occurs, its the reason I'm cautious to update my S22. mine is working fine so why update it right?
Totally agree, I knew what I signed up for testing early batch wheels. Part of working out the kinks. I heard from many that the wheels are fine prior to update. Only heard of one other dipping so could be a one off??
Inmotion have my logs now so we can find out.
What is the actual firmware version you were on when this dipping happened? Thanks so much for posting the really clear video of the dipping so InMotion can see it happening and hopefully get that fixed before my batch 2 unit arrives.
Best question :) I cannot believe I left that out of the video. I had to rush the edit as all the kids were back to school today, crazy!!
This happened using Firmware version V3.0.38
I didn't get a chance to try any other FW yet.
I'm on 3.0.38 now, only done little humps and drops so far, but no issues like this. That's pretty weird. Sport or comfort mode? Pedal hardness?
@@eucaus I checked my firmware version. It's the same as yours. Zero dipping on jumps. Did you make any other configuration changes from the defaults?
@ElectricUnicycles Well that is interesting, I have to check if I had assists on this roll. I was rolling with them to test but turned them off. Maybe softer pedals at the time but it shouldn't dip like that.
Another user on the comments mentioned they are dipping only after the update. Weird. I am waiting to hear from IM regarding the logs.
@@eucaus I'll be following this since Inmotion has your video documentation they should be able to push out a firmware update that fixes this and you will be the best person to validate it 👊
Inmotion is never disappointments me, v13 stator slippers, v12, v11 cut outs. They keep their engeneer in his chair.
My Inmotion wheels have been really good and I still think this wheel will be good it just has a bug atm - Sorry to hear you had issues
Hello, it's annoying because you will have to regain confidence on the wheel, preserve the hardware.. In short, can't wait for a correction of the software and then gain confidence. Courage and pleasures
I hear that! even when you get confidence back you kind of never know in the back of your head.
This will be fine, even on this roll I reattempted things, rebuilding my confidence to try it again. Then when it failed, same again. I only had three falls in me this day. I felt then I had proven the issue.
Wow this is pretty horrible...I wouldn't even call a speed bump hop a "jump".
Yea I totally didn't expect that result from a speed bump
Hello, IM is working on your wheel, is a correction planned for the software?
They are looking at logs and footage, I think they are trying to replica the issue atm with their own wheels.
OK@@eucaus
please specify the firmware version
3.0.38
F@€k that wheel. It should not dip like that. I wonder if you got a lemon.
Yea I thought the same thing.
Perhaps you just had an unco day
was absolutely my first thought, every second day lately seems my unco day
@@eucaus Hehe mate, I was just joking. Take care of yourself, you're a most talented rider. Hopefully they'll sort out the issues with the wheel. The Leaperkim Lynx looks like a better bet

I think they are
wow what a piece of shit! Those Begode wheels really suck.

Man im sorry for your luck. I understand how that would make you fell. I have had all good luck with IM until now. :/
I guess good luck to us both in the future hey!
a new battery costs almost half of a new v12, it makes no sense, get a new wheel in this case @@eucaus
why do you need these jumps, you are perfectly able to control the car without jumping, you only cause damage by jumping, you have scratched the camera and the monowheel, and it is dangerous for your health.
Inmotion bot account spotted. Remember, blame the rider for shitty firmware when the wheel is designed for offroad.
are you freaking kidding me? You're asking the person why they don't use their toy in a manner it was intended to be used? Go away cuckoo bird!
The speed bump dip is the most obvious. Inmotion has some explaining too do! Hopefully it's just a firmware update. That really sucks. 😑
