- Ever seen a person’s weapon and assumed something about how they play? Well, you’re not alone. In fact, most weapons in TF2 hold a certain stereotype. This series of videos aims to go over some of the most well-known weapon stereotypes in TF2.
Please keep in mind that I’m not saying that anyone who uses a certain weapon is a certain type of person. These videos are for fun. Sorry if I hurt your feelings or something.

Since the stun mechanics were removed from TF2 entirely, I can say the replacement for the the "sandman to cleaver" can be replaced by the "wrap assassin to cleaver" combo

I feel like stats for weapons have been really consistent since the end of 2017. A redo of this series might be in order.

The BFB couldn't make scout outrun its hitbox, this has been tested. This was a common misconception I think people just rationalized because they struggled to hit the scout which in turn made it get needlessly nerfed into the ground. Did it need a balance pass? yes, it was a bit obnoxious, but the reasons for nerfing it into the ground were just straight up false and Valve was way too harsh on it

Technically, the Holy Makeral is a direct upgrade to stock, because when hitting a dead ringer spy, it shows up as a hit, not a kill.

This video was before Flava was good, back when the Sandman was EXTREMELY unfair to fight (unless you played Overwatch and loved stun mechanics in an FPS).

Even removing flava it’s still a good option because your sacrificing a melee (you know a slot entirely reserved for utility instead of damage) to apply king range pressure and bleed freeing up your secondary for better options

Space Cake It’s from Game Grumps. It was from a Nancy Drew point and click game or something. I have no idea which episode it was, or if it was a one-off, but they were slaphappy and the sheriff was talking about trying to shoot a wolf and kept missing, which was the catalyst for that piece of comedic gold.
Linus Norby I think it’s in one of his Q&As. If I recall correctly, he’s just loading up empty servers through the developer console using the “map” command, and then he knows the commands to load up bots and give him unlimited HP and ammo. It could also be a custom server he’s on that has bots and gives him the unlimited health and ammo. If you want to do it yourself on an empty server for practice, you can find lists of commands online for whatever you need. It’s isolated to your computer, so you don’t have to worry about random people joining or whatever, and it allows you to use server cheats (“sv_cheats 1” in console), which is what you need on for most of the mods you see.
The Pocket Pistol is now the best secondary in the entirety of Scout's Arsenal

Finally coming back to this 3 years later. I feel like the Sun on a Stick could be amazing if scout had some sort of thing like the milk that could set people on fire. Like a Molotov or something that would fit the scout.

You clearly do not remember that version of the sandman at all. Valve made it so you couldn't double jump with that version of the sandman, which was very weird as a balancing choice but it was still arguably broken. Pre-Jungle Inferno sandman, however, wasn't broken at all, and people complaining about it 9 times out of 10 never tried using the weapons themselves. Even back then the sandman on its own was seen as a downgrade because the health penalty would put you below quite a few thresholds meaning you'd get instakilled by more things. Almost no good Scouts used it unless it was paired with the flying guillotine, and even that wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be.
So basically Valve stomped the sandman and the cleaver into their graves for no good reason other than Soundsmith fans were angry about it. Sad.
Good news! The Pocket Pistol is actually good now! Yeah, it got reworked again. Now it fires faster and gives 3 health back on hit, but the clip size is decreased. Pretty balanced in my opinion (that is, if you can aim).

while it's very good in paper and in practice most scouts use it just because someone said it was good and don't realize how to use it, and then there are scouts who know it is good and use it but still try to get 3 hp on that fully charged bodyshotting machina gibus sniper from across the map
there's a very small chance that the scout using it knows how to use it properly and i did the math and that's in about 13.7% of all matches you play

- Scouts that think Sentries, Heavies + Medics cannot counter them.
- Scouts that doesn't share teleporters despite the fact they are the most rapid class of the game.
- "DOC C'MON MAN! DOC C'MON MAN! DOC C'MON MAN! DOC C'MON MAN! DOC C'MON MAN!"
And Scouts that don't hold for a sec for the Medic to hit a Crossbow Syringe on them

Blame Soundsmith fans for spamming Valve about how it was unfun when 90% of them probably never even used it themselves, and only died to it by running in a straight line towards their enemies. That combo took skill to use, and it is a plain insult to act as if Scouts using it were using it as a crutch weapon.
@@JeffarryLounder Well it was a crutch tho. The skill is literally to throw the sandman and boom you stunned someone and you can bleed a guy to half his health with the cleaver. And hey if you say sandman is a projectile and is hard to aim, just get closer.

You say that like you have no idea the sandman fairs far worse at close range. Its effective range was mid-range, where it stunned the enemy for a decent-enough time where it became preferable to just using a few good scattergun shots.

I actually use the baby faces blaster because honestly I like to move fast, I used to use the soda popper, and even before that I used the back scatter. For other bfb scouts use the cleaver if you can aim it while you need to run away or use the milk if there’s a billion pyros in a server. Best melee is always the wrap assassin since it can be fired from a range and slowly build up speed, you won’t get kills with this but at least that gibusvision sniper and medic are dead.
10:43 I used the Wrap Assassin for a meme once and actually got a few kills with the ornament’s bleed.
I use this weapon religiously now because the ornament is so useful. You’d actually be surprised at the amount of times that i would’ve died without the Wrap Assassin.
My friend uses it because its literally the only other melee he has and he does not know that the damage is a overall downgrade
Yea same ay, I use the wrap all the time and I have like 8k hours, imo if is currently the best at least for me. The damage downgrade doesn't matter if ur better at melee then everyone else u play against, it's like flexing and the bleed on pcs on low settings can make it so they can't see at all and can be enough to retreat as some players freak out from bleed affect

To be fair: if you let a HEAVY get that close to you it’s either your fault, in which case bro… it’s the slowest class in the game be thankfully they don’t have the minigun out, or that heavy is a ninja, in which case they deserve that taunt kill, and your team SHOULD let them finish before killing them.

Stun mechanic for Scout was fair given it took skill to use and was not effective at closer ranges. People who act like Scouts using the combo had no skill and were using it as a crutch were coping to all hell and back. That thing was not easy to hit consistently, and if you point to the cleaver combo videos, keep in mind two major things:
1. The video is selectively edited to 100% show all the kills with the combo and not show all the fails with it that likely got said Scout player killed.
2. A lot of the players in the montage videos were standing relatively still, and the ones that weren't took a lot of prediction and precision to hit.
@@JeffarryLounder thank the comp players for this one, and really all of the other balance changes that have turned a once great weapon into a completely useless meme that barely anyone uses anymore, I'm not gonna sit here and act like every single nerf has been a bad thing but some shit has only been changed because it's a problem in 6's

The wrap assassin is actually really good, you can basically have a weaker guillotine and a secondary weapon

Once in a serious control point match, everybody on my team went scout, used the atomic punch (kill binding to give it to some people who didn't have it) and then rushed the contol point. It actually worked. I wonder what the other team thought when they saw 20 bonk scouts run past them.

Sadly, despite its cool stats, it still isn’t as powerful as the stock scatter gun. I’m surprised they haven’t tried to rework it

During the bird scout migration the scout who fell on the camera is called Meido - I spent 20 minutes studying that and I do not regret my life choices

Same Reason that I use the weapon (this little tip also applies to the Unarmed Combat, which won't show "Arm Kill" in the obituaries if you "killed" a Dead Ringer spy). Don't look at us like that, I use the whole set not because I hate pyros, I hate Dead Ringer spies even more.

The crit o cola was nerfed, and now nobody really uses it anymore, and nobody cries about it anymore. So you're not evil I guess.
I still feel like Valve overkilled it. Just remove the speed boost and it would've been balanced. Now using the weapon doesn't give you any sort of advantage other than making yourself an easy target.
