I was having a mental breakdown trying to read the stupid instructions, thank you so much! you really solved a huge headache worth
I was about to take this back to Lowes because it would not line up, losing my mind, lots of profanity then I watched your video and done. Thank you for the help. Predrilled the hole and I actually thought the screw needed to be lined up with the bottom of the faucet, but no. You rock even after posting 2 years ago, this video is still relevant.
Glad it helped you out!
Dude I did too! Until the guy that made this video just saved me lol 😂
Only video that helped, thank you for posting this.
Glad it helped
By the way I yelled at Danco for lying about the ease of the install.
Dude, that's pretty much what I did as well. I'm glad to see someone else decided to do this. When I grabbed that facet off the rack Home Depot, for the price it was I expected a good clear set of instructions because of my spout length. I just want to know WHO WRITES THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR ANY OF THESE CONPANIES!!!? I feel like in order to write instructions you must first use the product, install the product, or assemble it before you even put finger to keyboard!!! And you must do so with no instructions!!!
You are awesome. Danco are a bunch of dorks for making such a piece of junk. I wasted so much time until I watched your video and saw that I needed to improvise just like you said. Thank you!
2 years and you’re still helping!!! The instructions were complete garbage! Thank you!
Glad I could help
Thanks so much for giving more instructions and ideas how to do the job, yes the instructions come in the package, but are not very clear.
I went through an hour of hell trying to assemble this stupid tub spout until I found your video. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!
You are absolutely right. JUNK! Your video is the ONLY one that even remotely addresses the issues on this worthless made in china spout. Instructions were an absolute joke and I laughed so hard when you just threw them across the room. If I hadn't persisted watching vid after vid on youtube (yours was number six or seven) I would never have known that the o ring and inner doohickey came apart out of the extension. Mine was in there solid and I couldn't get them apart till I watched you. Got my hole drilled (Hallelujah) soTHANK YOU from every square inch of my heart for showing and explaining and walking me through it. I think I've got it now. Wish me luck!
Thanks for the comment!
Absolutely right. But did you check for leaks inside the wall? I finally gave up, the problem is that you cannot hold part A still while screwing part B into it, while on the short copper pipe. And if you do it off the pipe, I couldnt slide it on the pipe afterwards.
At first I was aggravated by you lol but because you went step by step but what was most important was screwing in that little part into that hole ! The water in my facet was backing up but when I did what you said it worked like magic thank you and by the way the other videos are not correct so glad you put this video up thanks again .
I was struggling with this - thank for this video
One of the best videos "how to" deal with Chinese junk we get stuck. Thanks a lot.
Try the american junk
@@tonyjc4231 I know I know. It's just there no pride left all over the board for craftsmanship. Thanks for video for it helped indeed.
Yeah I agree with both.. chinese junk yeah. But the fuckin Americans who approve this bullshit need to be slapped to sleep. I cant stand it, everything you buy at home depot or lowes or ace is fuckin junk
Instructions? Yeah try pulling your hair out which is less complicated! Honestly they make everything so complicated including the damn illustrations! God!
I’ve watched 43 videos and I agree this is one piece of work! And… I wish people selling these spouts would clarify if it’s a SLIP on or a TWIST on threaded spout. I don’t think they actually know either. I just bought one and it took me all this time to figure out what I have just to discover I have the wrong one and now I can’t send it back! Mother of mercy!!
I wasted an hour and then saw this video. You rock buddy! Drilling a hole was not written in the instructions.
RIGHT?!?! I’ve wasted hours for DAYS...trying to make this work!
The “instructions” do not allow for...MANY incongruencies AND this piece of crap does NOT ‘line up’ 🤬
EXACTLY the way this video describes.
Thanks so much. As soon as I read the instructions, I knew I had to research on UA-cam before installing. This saved me so much time and headaches.
Imagine having less than an inch of copper tube exiting the wall past tile and the tube end as oval as a horse racing track and a set of instructions from Danco and their universal fit spout.
Welcome to my world.
Some days I really don't want a challenge or a learning opportunity. Appreciate the video,
Omfg SAME! I didn't Have any issue using just the Philips head in my teeny muscles to pop through the plastic to be honest lol. But I have like an inch of tubing that's connected to a right angle piece that doesn't allow that shit plastic piece with the rubber gasket of bullshit to go any further. I swear off the connector that had male threading as it was damaged. FML! $27 FOR THIS DANCO POS. Pretty sure I'm going to have to go back to HD for a copper extension and since I taught myself to fuckin sweat fittings off, next I learn to freakin solder. Such unreal BULLSHIT!! My bathroom is a warzone, but I'll be damned if I don't DIY this shit myself. $27 in the hole is nothing compared to the $75-$150 a plumber would charge upfront just to come out. Ackkkkkkk
Worked just like you said. Thank you for going through the BS for the rest of us!!
Thank you. This really helped. That hole confused the hell out of me. Like it didn't say nothing about punching a hole in it. Smh. You're the man bro.
Thank you very much for your help, the truth is, I had no idea how to install it. Blessings.
THANK YOU FOR SAVING MY LIFE
I make big mistake trying too figure it out and finally install it. But after watching your video I realized- my installation is wrong! So I will reinstall it today. Thanks for your hard work!
Thanks to your step-by-step video, my daughter and I were able to replace my tub/shower spout with diverter on 2/8/2022.
Thanks Keith! Saves me a lot of time, blood, sweat, and tears.
Thanks for the video. It really helped. I am now gonna return this Danco crapola to Lowes and have instead bought an American Standard Universal spout from Amazon. One more day without a shower will only annoy my wife.
Thanks for this! Had to replace two old faucets with these faucets and I could not have done it without the help of this video.
Best explanation video if the issues with this tub spout and the work around. Thanks!
Good video, thank you. Looking forward to yelling at this Chinese made garbage I bought. Thanks for being straight with us.
Thank you!!! Seriously!!! Thank you
Great video!
The plastic pieces are not supposed to tighten down to the point they won't turn. They are a compression fitting designed to seal water that is all. Tightening the plastic pieces down pulls the inner piece over the Oring, compressing the Oring, and creating a water-tight seal. That being the case you could back the plastic pieces out a half-turn or more to get the set screw to line up the way the instructions indicated. The set screw is what is supposed to prevent the fitting from loosening and allowing leaks or the fitting from coming off. The set screw also should not be more than hand-tight. Cranking it down the way you did can dig in or groove the copper making it hard for future fittings to seal.
Agreed, However in the end no matter what you do this shit still leaks out the back worse than the leak that it had in the first place with the old tub spout. It's a POS.
Thanks for sharing I could use this method for my leaky tub spout!
This really is a helpful video! Their instructions didn't make sense and seemed like it would leak later. Thanks so much!
Thx, my head was hurting trying to follow their instruction which wasn't possible!!! Thanks for all your help!
Your frustration saved me a ton of frustration, thanks for a good video lesson!
Oh my God!!! I’ve been struggling with this stupid thing for days…THANK YOU SOO MUCH‼️♥️
Thank you. I have 5he Exact same you have. Got it done.
Great 👍
Thank you for your straightforward honesty and telling it like it is with this piece of S_ _ T contraption. I have a mechanical engineering background and took me two days to figure out the instructions!! I appreciate your solution to getting the set screw to fasten to the copper pipe. Your video was truly helpful in making sense of this poorly design spout replacement. Keep up the good work. You made me laugh at your comments. OJP😂
Man I grabbed this thing at the local lowes to help someone out. I got to put it on and thought I was going crazy. Your video helped me out bunch’s. Much appreciated
Glad I could help
Great video, trying to install it now.
You just helped me tremendously! The instructions was 100% BS! Thank you for showing me how to do this!
Thank you!!!! Been fighting with this all morning, did what you said, works great!!!
Awesome!
Thank you - Danco back to store for sure :)
Thank you Keith :-) This video made our installation quite easy.
Thank you! I was frustrated with the instructions. This video helped me out. All done!
Great video, very helpful. I might go another one. I already have had bud luck installing it
Hey thank's for the video I did it just like you did and it works great. You were right the directions were a little confusing and I just went by what you did.
Hey homie, just want to say thanks. The direction were horrible. Your video was legit! Keep this up, may be coming back for more.
Your my hero! & I have cussed this spout all day! At least with your video I was able to at least put it together! ( I got ours at HD? 😫😖)... took qtuiyck shower before working ER night shout, husband out of town babysitting grandkids.. had to turn water off at street to shut shower off!! Spent allo day trying to get this darn thing instructions are RUDICUIUS’ other videos are like.. huh?... at least I could I defer stand & follow & THANK YOU!
Hopefully if it all will line up, screw in straight I can have water again .it’s getting desperate! And my husband & I agree totally & he thanks you for saving him!😅😅😂
Thank you sir this was incredibly helpful.
Great video for this particular topic.
I concur with most of the other commenters: this product is a pile of hot garbage, but there are really no other options to choose from at the big box hardware stores.
Thank you, your video helped me so much. I don't think I could have fixed this thing without it. Once again, thanks!
You're welcome!
Thank you so much!!!! This is my first time attempting to do this and it looked so easy on other videos however I was so confused why I couldn't screw in the thing aaaggg
Thank,, no wonder I could get the darn thing to work! Video very helpful!
Thank you so much for your video, it helped me a lot. I was ready to call a plumber and waste probably $70 or more dollars on a simple fix. Love the cooking spray method.
Pluber quoted me 550$
Thank you sir. Very helpful. Damn thing had me riled there for a minute.
Wow thank you so much ! You took the stress from my shoulders
Great video! Helped a lot! Thanks!
Good job. Thanks
Saved the day my friend THANK YOU
Keith! Thank you very much for this video on how to actually install the spout! Mine kept flying off the spout! They should never let the engineers write instructions.
Good video.. real life struggle with results..
So true!
Thank you for great video!!! We couldn't figure out what to do and we got some wrong pieces inside the package and some parts missing. Your video made sense to us. We are not even going to use that plastic garbage, we will use copper pipe that we had with previous installation.
Thanks a lot... your video helped me thru it!
Just put one of these in my upstairs shower last night. Thought I had it all good to go, only to come downstairs to see water flowing out of a recessed light in the room right below it. Going to follow your tips to ensure I can prevent that leak. BTW, found you searching “back flow leak tub spout” so your video may perform better if you add those tags to your meta.
Thanks for the video! My situation is a little different! I recently replaced our water heater bcs it was showing the signs. I then started on having to remove the guts of the tub/shower water valves bcs the cold side was leaking so bad it was killing our water bill..... I could not remove the crapy plastic cylinder cartridges so had to replace the whole valve! After replacing the valve and got it all installed and water on, the new tub shower valve didn't come with the tub spigot, I couldn't use the old spigot bcs it looked like someone (previous owners) put a pipe wrench on it and cracked the spigots outer casing. Now this is all the 2 handle tub/shower operation with the diverter in the spigot but mine is set up where the threads and diverter are at the base of the spigot not at the tip. Ok mind you this is a brand new (Danco) spigot. I tested the system and now when I turn the water on it comes out of both the tub spigot and shower head!!!🤬🤬🤬
The new (DAMNCO) spigot is all plastic threads diverter and exterior casing! I have tried to seperate the guts to maybe possibly reset the gaskets in the diverter but it does not come apart! I do thank you for this video on how you show that DAMCO products are F******** garbage!👌
Thanks for sharing
very helpful. i couldnt figure out what i was doing wrong. i had the same problems with lining up, etc.
Thank you!!!
Good thing I watch your video. If I would of screw that into the plastic if would of definitely cracked.
Thank you. I bought the same Danco at a big box store and could not prevent it from leaking at the wall when then diverter was actuated. Solution? Returned it, got my money back, and then bought one from Ace Hardware. The one from Ace was a universal style but required no assembly. You just slide it on and tighten the set screw. Works great, zero leaks.
TY I'm giving in to do the same!
This video saved me a lot of time and money not to mention frustration and anxiety. As you mentioned the instruction paper is good only to clean up after the installation. Thanks for the insight into the drilling a hole. Made the rest of the installation so easy.
Thank you! You're right, the instructions were bad. I really needed more visuals.
Well, thank you for going through the hassle so I don’t next time I need to change a tub spout!
Very good video I bought a cheap brand and it didn't have any hole drilled through it and the inside pipe didn't come out like yours and it was impossible for me to fix so I'm omw to get a different one.
Llegando a este gran canal 👍
I've destroyed atleast 8 of these and I still can get it!!
Thank you
I looked at the garbage they give you in the package and just decided to use the hardware in the old spout. It was also a Danco, but saner people designed it.
Thanks for the help with the spout replacement. I think here needs to be an easier way to hold the plastic collar from turning when installing the plastic tube so that the rubber o-ring will seal properly .
Assemble them first then slip them on the copper pipe
@@Hernandez530 Thanks for the info. I hope this helps other people who are performing this task.
Struggle with replacing mine all day, decided to skip all the plastic parts. extended the copper stub out to 4 inches out of the wall and screw directly into the Chrome spout. No problem we came in making a 4 inch stub out from an original 2 inch stub out. I used a 1 inch F to F union and a 1" extension both. When I put the tape on all the joints it stuck out too far from the wall, had to shave 1/4 inch from all the threaded joints. a real Bitch of a job.
Clearly, there’s a manufacturer’s defect for not having the hole completely drilled on the flange. Luckily, I watched your video BEFORE DOING THE INSTALLATION. THANK YOU!
This video made me laugh. And bonus, also helped me install a crappy universal tub spout. 😂
Hilarious! And great video!!
Thank you man!
Drilled out the hole and the slot / screw hole juuuuuust lined up thankfully.
All the best!
Gracias por tu ayuda DIOS, te bendiga.
I don't know if my water pressure is too high but I have to use the thread tape to wrap around the black plastic ring multiple times so that the Spout won't come off when I switch to shower
Great video i was watching other videos they were ok, yours really helped me .
Thanks
I got the same spout. No matter what I did when I put it on the pipe it would not line to make the screw secure to the pipe. Especially when I screwed everything tight. To resolve my issue, after everything was tight, I put the screw in tight to make a mark on the adapter. Took it all apart, drilled a 7/32 hole in the adapter where the screw mark good enough to let the screw through. I put everything back on the pipe. Now I could see I was able to put in the screw in to touch the pipe.
Align the slot on the spout with the screw then loosen the screw and push the spout against wall, tighten the screw.
Thank you so much! I wasted so much time trying to figure out the Danco directions. I got the spout on and it’s not leaking thanks to you but now I’m sure if I really trust Danco. Would have liked a tighter fit but can’t do it with this stupid spout.
I looked at the reviews of this particular spout on Home Depot website and they're not positive. I'd use a more highly recommended one if possible.
Did you buy the white small adapter and black ring separate? It is not in our package and our copper is like 2 3/4 inch long. Thank you
I ended up just screwing it in on the other side not using the dimple hole and it's holding. DIY they said, it'll be easy they said....
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS! I DRILLED MINE OUT TOO- STUPID DESIGN!
had a new shower installed upstairs. Water ended up leading out of this faucet into the wall and downstairs through our hall ceiling and destroyed all the drywall in our hall ceiling.
I wonder if Danco doesn’t have an error in their instructions when they say the “copper pipe should protrude no more than 2” from the finished wall.” Should this be “at least 2”, and not mor than x inches?”
I cut my pipe to just under 2”, and now the spout is barely hanging on to the extension nipple/spout.
Good day mate. Do you have any videos on the 3 handle shower/tub faucet replacement?
I want to replace a similar handle with a brushed nickel one.. is there any compatible ones?
Thank you for this video! Even though I have the “newer” instructions they are still junk! Thankfully I watched your video before cutting my pipe down to 2”!
Need help. My pvc plastic pipe snapped off a little in the old spout. My pipe now is 3.5 long. Do I need a spout that’s smaller in length? Please help
