2 National Parks in 1 DAY! Carlsbad Caverns & Whites Sands - New Mexico

- We are on a road trip to California and making stops in places we’ve never been before! Two spots in New Mexico that have been on our list are Carlsbad Caverns and White Sands National Parks. They are in a few hours from each other so we are going to try to visit both in one day.
The caverns are absolutely amazing! You can take an elevator down to the big room or you can hike down. We chose to hike the winding, and sometimes very steep, trail down 725 feet to the bottom. It’s beautiful! The fact that these caves go so deep and we formed so long ago… and once you get to the big room! It is a sight like nothing else.
We drove north through the mountains in New Mexico on our way to White Sands… this drive was beautiful!! A little scary at times as it started snowing on us twice, but so pretty! The drive was longer than we expected and we made it to White Sands about 4pm… so not a lot of time to spend here. But we caught a beautiful and unique sunset!

Thanks for visiting, I'm a Carlsbad resident. 😊
Thank you for all the awesome videos! I love each and every one! and they help me plan!
I just caught this & loved every second.❤️
I watch all of your videos so its pretty cool to see you guys here in Carlsbad. I've lived here most of my life. I hope you enjoyed your visit.
In the old days when you reached the bottom the lights would be turned off and Rock Of Ages hymn was sung very inspirational.
Hey, This is you RV neighbor from Pecan Grove that recommended the La Posta restaurant. Sorry you plate was bland. Now I know what not to order.
Your video showed up in my feed. I had no idea you guys have a You Tube channel. We subscribed to you channel and look forward for more posts.
And, welcome to California!
I live in Carlsbad. You honestly hit Carlsbad on a bad day lol it’s usually pretty warm year round
My 4-year-old is wanting to visit New Mexico (he loves Mexico, and was fascinated to learn about a “New Mexico” lol). Thanks for sharing the trip!
I have never eaten a Tamale in a restaurant that was good...have to be homemade! You like the white sands come up to Michigan sand dunes on Lake Michigan its awesome!
We were just there in November and went to both places it was an amazing experience
Your RV videos are really cool! Getting to see a lot of things that I haven’t been able to see. Thank you for sharing.
These are some awesome places you are going its fantastic to see it all with you! Those sand dunes wow. Thank you so much for bringing us with you!
It's called graupel. Those little beady pieces of snow. Loved the cave. You two are so good at this. So funny too!
That restaurant is so cool, makes me think of Casa Bonita's in Denver, Colorado.
I’ve never been to the cave ,thanks for the tour! The white sands are cool! I love NM restaurants always good! That really looks good!
I’ve watched lots of your videos on cruising, but now you deserve a “subscribe” for being in my old stomping grounds (Las Cruces). Also, I love Alisa’s short haircut.
I live in Carlsbad... Love that you came here. I love to walk that cave it's like another world. Hope you got some good Mexican food while you were here.
When y'all leave California take a couple of sides of a cardboard box and go back to white sands, you can surf on the dunes, fun as heck
Alissa always seems so warm never really bundled up
I loved this video of yal touring around my stomping grounds!! I live in small town Eunice, NM and went to Carlsbad Caverns several times thru the years for a school trip. Visited to Billy the Kid museum along with Smokey the Bear museum. It's all so beautiful up in that area. Seen places in this travel vlog that I've never seen before even living not far from there. So enjoyed it!
Oh wow I would love to visit there.
OMG...I have said this before but, I can't help myself, I LOVE YOUR HAIR in the short pixie cut. Enjoy it....color it pink for some fun.
The downside of the San Andreas mountains is straight down and ends in Las Cruces, My parents had a cabin in Ruidoso, and I did a nursing contract in Albuquerque and Las Cruces for 10yrs. Spent a lot of my life time in NM. Love it.
The rolled taco that you said is a taquito & you usually dip it in guacamole with sour cream.
Hey! My wife and I are NM natives, originally from Carlsbad. I lived in NM until I was 26. We both lived in Las Cruces while attending college at NMSU. I hope y’all enjoyed your time in the state! I like Andele’s more than La Posta, because La Posta can taste bland. La Posta is a very pretty restaurant though.
...speaking of childhood. I've been wanting to go to rock city Tennessee for the same reason.
Awesome video! there are 5 big Caves/caverns in Arkansas you can add to your bucket list. I was in one a few years ago, & it was Huge. Caves just amaze me.
All these years and still learning about each other! That is the most precious thing ever! Beautiful vlog as usual ❤️
Love following your adventures and hope you are enjoying your Travato. How did the van do climbing those hills? Toured both those parks many years ago :)
Love the travel vids 😍 👌 great job 👏 thanks 4 taking us along, appreciate all the work you've done to get to this, obtw, did record breaker look like a buff messed up chipmunk 🐿 miss the boils. Happy Holidays 😊
When you guys drive back you should hit Big Bend National park
If you ever get a chance, you should take the Kings Palace tour at Carlsbad. There are some really beautiful rooms on that tour. They also have everyone on the tour sit down and they turn off all the lights.
I happy to see that the both of you made your next destination. Beautiful and kind of scary cave. I was waiting patiently. Thank you and safe journey.
The caves were more beautiful in person than the video even shows.
@@EECCTravels I bet it was.🥰
I was born in Roswell NM back in 1959 and I haven’t been there since I was 6 months old. I really want to go back and see what it’s like
I’m planning to visit there in October
Loved going there several years ago. Beautiful!!
Travel now nice to do that and tell and let other people to watch it
When the frozen pellets are hard, it's sleet. When they are a combination of sleet and snow they are softer and here in the midwest we refer to that as sneet.
Your taquitos definitely needed guacamole;)
I ate at LaPosta based on some friends’ recommendations but only found it to be okay. I had the fried tacos. My fave is LaFiesta Mexicana. We ate there in Page, AZ, and again in Moab, Utah. They have a couple more locations too. But everyone’s taste is different. So, fortunately, there are plenty of Mexican restaurants to choose from. 😊👍🏻
A couple times a year we get precipitation called "graupel" with is a cross between hail and snow. It's like little ice pellets. Maybe that's what you saw? ❄️❄️
So cool! Thanks for letting us tag along.☺
Love your channel name! There aren’t many Alisa spellings out there 😃
@@EECCTravels You are so right Alisa! Thanks so much!😍
Love the video 🌸💐🌸💐
No, it's true. I've been collecting and studying rocks all my life. Gypsum is where drywall comes from. It'll also grow some of the best tomatoes you've ever eaten.
There is a very wet cave in the Loire valley in France. They put molds in the cave and after just a few months they become calcified. Really interesting but we were bicycling and didn’t have space to purchase anything
Oh that does sound cool
Love your videos, you are my favorite vlogers!
Mexican food which you will usually find in Ca, Chicago is 1000% better than Tex Mex food. Where you ate they should have covered your enchilada with their Christmas chili- which is red and green chili (the small hot capsicum) peppers, not chili con carne. New Mexico is known for their fantastic chili sauces, lots of spice.
We did the same thing in February. Carlsbad, White Sands, and the same restaurant all in one day. Love New Mexico! Especially the food in Northern New Mexico. If you head to Albuquerque or Santa Fe, try out Tomasitas.
Oh that’s awesome!! We were in Santa Fe in June and I think we may have eaten there.
Imagine if someone from 1939 could try buying from there menu with today prices. Enjoyed the caverns.
The sand sure looks like snow on camera.
Our kids go sledding on boxes at White Sands on the dunes
I live in New Mexico and can confirm that yes in November it is cold in the mornings.
I'm glad you're enjoying your trip. Those prices at La Posta have gone up significantly since the last time I was there. There are plenty of other good places to eat that are more budget friendly.
The history of the area was worth the visit
@@EECCTravels Trinity site, where the first atom bomb was tested is on White Sands missile range and is opened to tourists twice a year I believe.
I was born and raised in San Antonio eating the best Tex-Mex in the world! Never been a fan of New Mexican cuisine; many items look similar but taste totally different. I figured that New Mexicans probably feel the same about our food.
Next time you go through Las Cruces go to Roberto's.
If you love these caves you should really try the mammoth caves in cave city Kentucky on interstate 65 bowling green Kentucky
It’s on our list
In Montana, they call it popcorn snow
Did y'all stop in Artesia New Mexico maybe at the dollar general store
It's Taquitos
If you ever come to the Central Pa area. Make sure to check out Crystal Caves!
Jason you should also check out a restaurant called The Mill at Hershey. They have incredible Brisket there! They're known for it.
I’m heading there next week and also doing both parks in one day. I don’t want to miss the White Sand, what time did y’all start at Carlsbad Caverns?
Gypsum sand is in a lot of building products, yes drywall is but one of them.
I live there and never been to either place lol
The "weird" pellet like snow is called Graupel.
Are you guys still around I love right by white sands
Alamogordo
LA Posta is not that good, I don’t think you chose the wrong food, just the wrong restaurant
I second this.
Did you get some sand in a baggie?
No… there were signs that said no collecting
They are called snow pellets in aviation 🙂
Sounds like hail or sleet.
We just came back from there, around the corner is the jail Billy the kid was in. L&J cafe is way better in El Paso, we thought la posta was overpriced and bland.Did y’all do the loop in white sands…the sand is thicker in the loop…and yes it’s what’s in drywall. If you dig down you’ll get water.
You're in New Mexico, you don't anything without Hatch Green Chilies, I guarantee you that is where there chili's come from
Oh I hate your dinner was not a hit! Love your channel
It's pronounced like this...La Post-a day LA Messy-a...the ll in Mesilla is pronounced as a y.
U need to go to colonial williamsburg
It's The "Hatch Chile" flavor, that makes it. New Mexico, is home of the Hatch traditional Chile, grown originally there. It's a hybrid Chile cross pollinated by a farmer in this 47th State of the Union, the state was added in 1912.
FYI: it's not Mexican food. IT'S NEW MEXICAN food. Mexican food is different.
Also: Chile, is raw pepper. Chili, is a cooked dish!
Alisa
Keep full of gas lot of places closed now..tow people hard to get . Artesia across is very pretty
Also, if you go to Fort Sumner, New Mexico, you can go to Billy the Kid’s grave.
You should definitely discipline yourself to keep at least one hand on the steering wheel when hurtling down the road at 70 m.p.h. . Things can happen very quickly in a 4 1/2 ton top heavy van at those velocities!
StalaCtites are spelled with a C and descend from the Ceiling. StalaGmites are spelled with a G and stick up from the Ground
Good way to remember 👍
Just wanted to add in times past you got a boxed lunch of fried chicken at the bottom. Just a gal from El Paso
Brother those are watusi cattle. They are from Africa. They actually cool themselves through those horns they act like a radiator for their blood.
Yeap I was going to say those were not Longhorns as well.
Black ice dangerous
Next time you're in that area stop in El Paso Texas for some real Mexican food not no Tex mex but Mexican food
