There is a mistake in the Tittle. This show can't be from 1993 because Danny Seraphine is still playing drums, and he was dismissed from the band in 1990

My guess is that this performance was actually from 1989.

    1. I loved when they'd perform this live, including the trombone solo.
    2. Goodness they made a foolish mistake pushing Danny out. Foolish, foolish, and worse.

I think Jason does a pretty good job here, especially having to replace a legend like Peter Cetera.

Jason will make an appearance before Bill would. Bill said that he was treated like a 34 year rookie and that all of the originals couldn’t stand him. He said in an interview recently that he’d never be asked back and wouldn’t return if invited. According to Bill, the originals wanted to get rid of him after Chicago 18, but was spared because the producer of Chicago 19 insisted that he’d be the lead vocalist on Look Away, which ended up being Chicago’s only #1 hit of the 80s. After that, the band decided that getting rid of him on the heels of their most successful song would cause more harm than good, especially since it was clear that Peter Cetera would never come back. They had to settle for what kept them on the charts and on the radio, and Champlin filled that need.
By the time the 90s rolled around, the “Chicago sound” was out and Grunge was in. After the tepid reception of Chicago 21 and their ill-fated Big Band album, Chicago transformed into a greatest hits tribute band to itself. The band had its own label, was self-funded and free to tour the world and rake in the bucks without churning out more than a couple of new, or previously unreleased songs on each new greatest hits album.
Now, with only 3 originals left in the band, and after several years of personnel shakeups, Chicago really sounds more like a decent cover band than anything else, but the 3 remaining originals, Lamm, Pankow and Loughnane refuse to throw in the towel and retire to enjoy their golden years with their families. They’d rather keep their gentleman’s agreement alive for as long as they possibly can, regardless if they sound like they once used to, or not.
Personally, I’d have more respect for the band if they’d reform the band with all of the members from the Chicago 17 album, key the music down to Peter’s range and do a 12 or 15 stop “Farewell Tour” and then call it quits for good… a last hurrah, if you will.
It would make the fans happy and bring closure to a brilliant career that’s spanned nearly 6 decades.

I saw that interview Champlin did with all the things you said he spoke about. They were just as jealous of Champlin as they were of Cetera. Look at whose voices are on their 3 number one songs. I'll leave it there 😂@@michaelshaffer8451

In this video it's the original horn section plus Robert Lamm and Danny Seraphine. Five original members out of seven still rocking after decades of existence. How many bands can say that? I loved this lineup. Sadly, Terry, Petie and Danny are no longer with the band and haven't been for decades. Time to get over it and move on.
