- N!xau, a San from the Kalahari Desert, was discovered by director Jamie Uys and cast in the lead role in the 1980 movie The Gods Must Be Crazy (1980). He received only a few hundred dollars for his work in that film, but was astute enough to negotiate for over half a million for his appearance in the sequel, The Gods Must Be Crazy 2 (1989). He reportedly suffered from tuberculosis during his life, and in early July 2003, Namibian officials based in the remote area of the Kalahari where N!xau lived, confirmed his death, though the exact cause of death was unknown. I can’t agree. He didn’t understand the concept of fiat money because it’s foreign. If he were taught the value, then maybe he could’ve built infrastructure or use said money to benefit his people. He was exploited.

During my childhood days my siblings and I love this actor from The God must be crazy. Happy he's still well but disheartening to see him struggling 😢may he finds happiness and success.He brought so much fun to people across the world watching his movies like me from Northeast India😊.

Revisited my childhood and watched this God must be crazy with my family. Still remember all my favourite scenes and the story line. Love that movie and love this guy. I wish that they gave him some of the fortune that the movie made. RIP Legend❤
They didn't pay him well enough. They might gave some amount of money for his acting, but they didn't tell (educate) him how to use and manage the money properly. He is part our childhood memories, even as Indonesians we knew who he was, we watched his movie back in 90s. Rest in Love Legend.
