I built one 20 years ago with Suntuf clear sheets. I used galvanized self tapping screws that came with their own neoprene washers. You have to be careful not to over tighten the screws and deform the Lexan. In all those years I never had any problems, even with two feet of snow in the winter. The roof is now only showing signs of ageing, two spots that leak.
I am fully impressed! It’s just a complete ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxGqOCINHE0Z0E5gxzSdNi9NWGugRY5Hm2 plan with the best resources and step by step instructions . These shed plans are so satisfying as if the sheds build themselves on their own. Worthy work Ryan!
This is an excellent Shedplans.Work with clear instructions, minimizing jargon and explaining jargon as needed . The illustrations are very clear and explanatory. I found the Ryan’s Shed Plans very helpful to me as a consumer of professional building services.
Even though you made this video almost a year and a half ago, I am currently stocked with material and ready to build my own studio shed much like you did...within code for my county to keep it under the radar of needing a permit. It's going to be my office. Made the man-cave/game(and gun) room, the boys cub den (homeschooling workspace)...now it's time to make my space. They have $1000's of tech between the two of them. I'm a nature nut. so, this works. Thank you so much for posting this. Between you and home renovision, all of my questions have been answered. Sheet metal worker using transferable skills. Times have definitely changed since Covid hit. Thank god i got the footing and flooring material before hand. The cost of the wall and roof material DOUBLED due to supply and demand. The cheapest stud...$5 and change! Put my floor on pier pads with saddles built in to compensate drainage being the lowest spot on my side of the street. Compacted gravel with vapor barrier, then more gravel under my pier pads worked great on my tool shed over 2 years ago. Great drainage. No critters or weeds. All pressure treated, and at least 1 foot off the ground. No moisture issues. Will be doing the same with this studio shed. I agree it will be built better than the tool shed (shed kit from Home Depot). You can put in your own preferences, better material, bracing. Questions i still had (like what you used on the floor, by the doors), I just read though all of the comments. It's amAZing how many people asked you the same questions over, and over, and over LOL. But, I get it. I don't normally have the time to read, but i do now taking some much needed time off. LOVE the clear roof. Plant nut here. Will be able to pull in most potted plants that would normally be killed by frost :)
I used a deck paint then that adhesive flashing. All the sheds I've seen the floor is deteriorated at the door footing. Since the floor is a type of OSB I went overkill in protecting that door jamb. I used the same paint to seal all cut ends of the pressure treated beams. Thanks for watching, good luck!
Mr. Parker you are a good son, I am sure she appreciate, they appreciate us so much for little thing we do for them. See your mom in the video trying to help you, I missed my mom.
You're very lucky to live in a country where you can build a shed that high and not upset the neighbours. (Because your garden is SO enormous.) Nice job!
Ok first, I love how mom keeps popping out to check in on her boy that is adorable! Doesn’t stay long or get in the way, love it love it love everything about it. Most importantly I want to thank you for this video because you do this all on your own, no helper at all. This exact style of shed is one I have wanted to build, not to mention a million other projects I need to get done, but have been intimidated because I have no help. I could picture doing it in my head but worried that I was not being realistic. So thank you, you have validated my thinking it that means a lot. All anyone ever tells me is that I can’t do something and it’s hard not to believe it after a while.
Thanks for the comment, yes this can be built alone. If I did it again I would enlist help at certain points. Raising the large front wall is really something I shouldn't have done alone. Also, time spent working on things overhead could be cut in half with a helper. The constant up and down on the ladder was time consuming. Of course if you have the time and proceed alone, I don't blame you, it was immensely satisfying. Good luck!
Very thorough and solid. I looks great. My wife wants a she shed and I need all the ideas I can get. No cutting corners. You must be a professional carpenter. Everything looks done by the book.
This is the first major carpentry job I've done. I have built smaller things before, but with youtube I was able to learn more professional techniques. Watch Shannon on the houseimprovements.com channel. they have a full shed build in detail. Great video.
You are the fastest worker I’ve seen lol , great job , you must be a contractor or a very smart man or both , & Thankyou for doing that for your Mother , May God Bless
I seen this video just had to watch it I built my mom a shed a year ago a 12 x 24 with a peaked roof and the attic in the top for storage she loves it and I'm sure your mom will too awesome
Looks good . On,y suggestion is that I would have added some venting Depending on the wind direction etc I would have a vent along from top and a 2 vents at the back lower to the floor. I built a shed and found it very hot and stuffy. Did the venting and it really helped. Otherwise it looks fantastic. You should be proud.
I bet she didn't even want a shed, all women want is money and here he is blowing all his timme and money on something she didn't even want in the ffirst place and would have instead rather had the money he spent on it

4k US seems a lot of money for shed of this size. i am not sure where you live, but where i am from, I can go to local lumber mill and buy milled/planed/cut to size lumber there. I can get cedar from there for the price of presure treated pine from HD. It probably wont be as dry but it will last much longer since its cedar anyway. Or you can get less resilient woods for even cheaper. Just an idea for your next project :)
Would love to do cedar but pine has the rock bottom price in the South. I did use pressure treated for the floor deck and all exposed wood. The foundation added a bit of cost but we needed it because that patch of yard floods. The equivalent size Tuff-Shed cost more and with no foundation. We are happy with the result especially because UA-cam ad revenue paid us back the entire cost. Thanks for watching!
@@RoundsOfWanting check local lumber mill next time you do your next project, I had no idea myself a month ago that they sell lumber so much cheaper then HD. In any case, awesome that YT covered it :)
Great video!! It's always nice to have a gigantic back yard to start with. I have a very small one that I need to improvise with. It needs alot of attention and patience.
After my Dad died I found out my Mom was stealing my Dads retirement for 30 years. My Dad raised us while my mom ran off to another state and remarried. She drove BMW's and went on trips to Europe. While my dad had nothing and worked almost to the day he died. He helped me so much over the years. I had just finished my house and put it on the market. I made a lot of money off it and was going to buy a house for him next to my next house so he could live in and be near each other. But he died before I sold it and got to do that. I'm so pissed at my Mom I never want to talk to her again. Millions of Dads get effed over too by the courts, Moms are so dang selfish and greedy, they think men owe them everything and will always take and steal as much as they can from Men.
I'm sure every person watching would do something a little bit different, so I will not comment on that. Your product looks very nice indeed. Well done! The most striking and obvious thing about this video is the fact you were working alone. I can so much relate to that. (sigh). In the 370 comments you likely have answered this question already, but if you please how did you do that time lapse photography? I'm guessing you have some kind of camera that can be programmed to take a shot on a set time interval. thanks
Trenton Jennings, thanks for asking. I did it with an IPhone 5s with external battery - it is an incredible tool. I have since upgraded to a GoPro Hero 7 for the next video. Working alone has its benefits. The process became more self exploration rather than managing workers. The shed build was a self challenge to see what I was made of at age 40.
Brenda Bourges thanks! Yes the piers were worth it. We had to elevate the shed because it floods back there. Water has already gotten half way up the concrete.
