Cassie Jaye is a filmmaker based in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Founder of Jaye Bird Productions. She has directed and produced over a dozen films and commercials, but she is probably most known for her documentary 'The Red Pill' and her TEDx talk about making the film.
'The Red Pill' chronicles her journey as a feminist learning about the Men's Rights Movement. The film was released worldwide in March 2017 and has garnered multiple awards including the Women in Film Award at Hollywood DigiFest. Despite much praise and recognition for shedding light on an aspect of Gender Equality rarely discussed, the film was also the target of many petitions, protests, and censorship by theaters who caved to pressure to pull the film from their screens. Two years after the film's release, Cassie candidly opens up to Michele about her life since 'The Red Pill'.

Gender equality means transcending feminism and men's right activism for a unified front, but you must listen to both sides and not be so quick to judge and demonize. Thank you to Cassie for the courage to go against the grain. She is part of the solution that helps humanity make gains on these issues.

As the article above says. The rate is unclear, we'll never know. The article you provided equates the 5% rate to the total rapes committed, of which the unreported cases is unclear. Rape is vile, so is false accusation. Just because it's low doesn't mean it deserves any less attention. Your analogy is pretty ironic because when boys or men suffer or die in huge percentage, no one bats an eye. But when it happens to a bunch of girls or women, everybody loses their minds.

    • @DarkSpartan-sy2te

@Zachary Hare Then that person is actually an egalitarian, even if they claim to be a feminist. Feminism only cares to uplift women, hence the name "fem"inism, even their definition and feminists themselves say so, they don't care about men even if they claim they do. But unfortunately they are the ones getting all the spotlight and attention.

    • @DarkSpartan-sy2te
      @DarkSpartan-sy2te 3 роки тому +5

@Zachary Hare " Things were heavily leaning towards men" well that ended last century, thanks to the actual feminists. You don't know what you're talking about, for example, In India, rape laws only cover for women, men or boys can't be raped according to the law, when some MRA's tried to start a campaign to make the laws gender neutral, the feminists fought it and shut it down. Google it if you're thinking I'm making this up. This is just the tip of the iceberg. It happens to all Men's Rights Events all over the world. They are silenced at all costs. If the feminists truly cared about equality, they'd be working along with the MRA's, not protest them. I said it, I'll say it again. If you are a person who believes in true equality, then you are an egalitarian, not a feminist.

MGTOW essentially advises men not to SIMP for love and sexual attention. Men who make derogatory comments about women in the name of MGTOW are not speaking for MGTOW. They are usually going through their red pill rage phase AND its not excusable behavior.
Men who are hurt by a woman/women should simply walk away. The most damaging thing men can do to women who depend on them is to walk away, not reciprocate any attention, not even negative attention. Men who attack women that antagonize them play right into their hand. When a person is seen as a "victim" they get a free pass on criticism and are helped while the other person is branded an asshole regardless of the merits of his case.
Indifference is an excellent strategy because it requires zero effort and exacts maximum damage to the opposite party. Think about what would happen if all simps stopped being orbiters, buying free lunches, paying rents. Imagine if they walked off the plantation. It would be chaos. Think about how many simps support the lives of women who scorn them.
It does not matter what women think about MGTOW because its not for women. Most men are already MGTOW they just don't openly identify with the philosophy, and they don't have too because indifference is a beautiful thing.

Thanks Suzie. As you probably know, among those of us who have given up relationships for various reasons is that the "Who hurt you?" response from women to men critical of women is a joke. Some of us simply gave up because expectations from women were impossible, or not something most of us wanted, to meet. Usually because we couldn't financially afford them or because meeting them meant an unbalanced relationship. Despite those loud, angry men who feel threatened, I think most men welcome equality. We often don't get it in work, social or personal relationships. Many of us give up, some get mad.

@@ramjet5192 I think you are missing the point. Its not about who hurt who, its about survival. Modern feminism does not want equality, it wants to dominate men. Period. Don't get it twisted. Feminism is the fascist state of the 21st century. Have you heard about the man tax? Its coming. Look at what's happening to men who can't pay child support. They get their drivers license and passports taken away and treated worst than murders. Some of them spent longer than life sentences in prison. Open your eyes and witness the tyranny of the gynocracy.

@@BalboaBaggins It's called gyno centrism, where the professional feminists who seek nothing but power for themselves, push the victim narrative on women; the way Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton push the victim narrative on the black community and amass power and wealth for themselves in the process. Some feminists truly want women to run everything because they believe women can do a better job at it, but the fact is women are not wired to do what men do. It's not a subservient thing; it's biology. Men and women do not have to do THE SAME THINGS to be equal.

Hey Cassie. Former real newspaper (remember those?) journalist here. Loved your movie, much of which was familiar to me. I think what you encountered were a lot of false assumptions from one "side" about the other. Like "men's' rights" folks are afraid of losing power and hate women. Yes, there are some men like that, of course. And plenty of women actually say they hate men. If we could all be honest and get past assumptions and power struggles, feminists should be much happier and those threatened men could relax. Both sides, however, dare not give a fraction of an inch to find the common ground we actually have.
From a personal standpoint, I'm now a "young" 67. I never married or wanted kids, had my share of relationships. I endorsed feminism and equality for all when I entered adulthood. Unfortunately, I found that most women I dated and women in general still behave like it's 1950, primarily in personal relationships. Several of my long term relationships ended because I, a middle class professional, didn't earn enough income for my middle class professional equal partner to continue. Again, no kids were planned, so weren't we equal?
I think it's this and other perceived hypocrisy that's made men question feminism and the equality that it's promoted. Thanks again for doing an honest film.

This is the analogy I generally use to show why we need "innocent until proven guilty":
Generally speaking there is a "accuser" (usually treated as the victim) and the "accused." Now, let's ask the same question of both and see what happens. "Why would they lie?"
If we ask "why would the accuser lie" we would have to start hypothesizing, or leaning on some kind of specific bias that not everyone has. We would have to make up some story based on what few things we know in order to assign the accuser a motive to lie. Or, perhaps someone would say something sexist like, "she would lie because she's a woman and women are lairs." But since not everyone would share that bias it hopefully gets deconstructed. The point being, if it's the accuser you have to search for a reason, and hopefully some evidence. Also, many people aren't readily willing to interrogate the possible victim for fear of "victim blaming" or looking conspiratorial.
If we ask "why would the accused lie" we get an immediate possible answer - the accused might lie simply because they have been accused. The accused is the proposed perpetrator, so they would have every reason to lie in order to get away with the crime.
Take Cassie's situation, even though it's not a legal matter the process still applies. People are looking at her trying to figure out if she's lying or "dog whistling," because from their perspective she has been accused of a misdeed (apostasy) and now she has to prove to them she's not that thing (a heretic). If people saw her as the "victim" they would treat her completely different, because no one wants to "victim blame." We even saw this from the FBI in the Kavanaugh case when the FBI agent who gave Ford her polygraph (iirc, maybe it was the one that interviewed her) said he was afraid to be too assertive because he didn't want to blame the victim. There was no court case, no evidence, but merely because she was presented as the victim she was given the victim treatment - instead of treating both parties the same.
As a result of the inherent imbalance we have to debias ourselves by just assuming "innocent until proven guilty." We try to do this under the law, but we really need to start doing this in our gossip machine as well. However, since getting to the truth means sometimes asking hard questions, I don't see fairness happening any time soon. Which is why we need to stop the gossip and let the courts handle things - we can discuss if justice was done after the facts come out. You don't even have to go far to see the imbalance in action, just compare the Jussie Smollett interview to the "MAGA kid" interview. Jussie got the victim interview and the Covington kid got the perpetrator interview.

It is good to have moments that challenge our system. Mostly because it makes us realize that these things were already thought out by others long ago, and that we simply have forgotten to pass on their wisdom properly. Robert Frost, and before him Chesterton, and before him Socrates, all said something along the lines of, “Don’t take down fences until you know why they were put up in the first place.”
For most women, the #MeToo movement’s potential harms when things like the elimination of due process is proposed can most easily be answered by asking them to think of their brothers or sons or some decent man they know being falsely accused. If this fails, perhaps accusing them of something false and telling them you’re going to spread it all over the internet about them and everyone should believe you because you are going to claim to be her victim - that might work too.
But the answer to “what’s a better system” was answered by Cassie. There isn’t one. That does not mean that we cannot promote more accountability and morality and better behavior. THAT we can improve upon even if we cannot improve upon the law.
We can also encourage more women to utilize rape kits and provide more of them in places women can go to report safely.
But changing the law would empower liars and lead to innocent punishment.
It is not white men who are to be praised for coming up with the system. They just happen to be influenced by a mixture of philosophical history and religious principles- mostly from the Greeks and Jesus - that gained enough power and influence that rich people with enough time on their hands realized these truths. Don’t resent a truth just because white men implemented it. The truth didn’t come from them. It is just reality.
Rebellion is good except for when it rebels against reality. Then, and only then, is it a harmful vice.

The ideal of individual sovereignty is the acknowledgement that rights, privileges and liberty reside with the individual and not the state. If the state (community) had total precedence above the individual then mob rule, vigilante justice would prevail and nobody would have any rights - they would be oppressed, everyone knows the results of 1939 Germany and 1922 Russia. Not all people play fairly there are many in this world who are self-centered. Then all it takes are those who seek some perceived injustice to make a claim or an accusation.
