    Another good point to mention is feeling stiff, tight or having weaker muscles due to inactivity or over activity is NOT the same as ALS weakness. Physiotherapists will often refer to muscles being ‘weak’, but it’s usually in relation to a muscle injury or because you haven’t exercised enough to build strength etc. If you can’t lift your foot off the ground when you walk, that is true weakness. Feeling achey, stiff and tight.. not the same x

    I haven’t got any twitching, but have muscle weakness in my legs and in my arms from time to time. I’ve got probelms walking and feel dizzy. The doctor assures me it’s nothing any serious more of a functional neurological disorder which will go away in time but this is so scary, It’s really getting me down I feel like I’m losing my mind, I don’t do anything I used to go to the gym 3-4 times a week, meet friends go out now I’m just stuck on the couch.
    I went to my doctor and got a neurological test and they said it was normal and I didn’t have enough weakness, problem is I feel like I can move my legs properly. Thanks for your video it helped me. My brain is definitely convinced I have this.

    Thank you so so much for these videos. I have twitching in my legs. It’s bad when I’m at rest. I have always had what I call popcorn legs when I was young so I’m pretty sure I have bfs. But the fear of ALS is there every day! I have no atrophy and no clinical weakness but I do feel weak in my legs . However I have just started working out again so it’s probably just that. It’s crazy how the brain can manifest things that aren’t there. Again thank you. I come back to your videos when my anxiety gets overwhelming ❤

    I Have a awful health anxiety and OCD (male 28) and I'm im the bulbar Als rabbit hole .. I read about it and after a week I have started to slurre many words, No one have heard it when they speak to me, but! I have it recorded when I do slurre, so I really are slurring my words. I also started stuttering.
    After the first slurre I got so hyperaware of my speech. I have never had any problems with my speech, my speech is my biggest gift in my life so when something is off with it, I know for sure something is really wrong. During this time, I also remember my tongue feeling fatigue. I do not slurre all the time it's coming and going.
    I’ve also developed in the last 2-3 days a scalloped tounge and burning sensation on my tounge (never had this before), fasiculations all over my body, mostly on my left buttcheek, it also feels like I have lost the coordination of my tounge and my tounge is always touching my teeth while I’m speaking, I never had braces and I have straight teeth. And today I have bit my tounge like 15 times meanwhile I'm speaking ..

    So to my question, is this the bulbar onset of ALS? Because how can it be possible for me to slurre my words for 17 days with just hyperawareness and health anxiety, it should not be possible right?

    How did your muscle twitching start? With Me practically from day to day, it was connected with total weakness that I just lay down for a whole week, now after 20 months the muscles are still twitching, I notice weakness mainly in the calf and otherwise all the muscles get tired quickly compared to the situation 20 months ago.

    • @juliamiller5120
      @juliamiller5120 Рік тому +3

      Talk to your doctor. That’s not clinical weakness. You might have BFS. But if after 20 months your muscles are still working, you can stand up, hold things, and your muscles work even if it’s not as well as before, that’s not ALS.

    I started having "perceived" weakness in my arms a
    few weeks ago. I'm a nurse and started googling
    symptoms and ALS was one of the first things that
    popped up. I immediately started having a panic
    attack and have been in a constant state of severe
    anxiety/panic attacks since. The weakness in my
    arms went away and then I felt my legs were weak.
    Then I started having all over muscles twitches. For
    the past week the fatty muscle below my thumb has
    been painful and my forearm and upper arm feel
    tight. I've seen two doctors and a therapist and I
    want to believe these symptoms were caused by the
    anxiety since most of the symptoms did not begin
    until I started having the panic attacks and severe
    anxiety. Has anyone else gone through this? I feel
    helpless and I'm so fixated with onevery thing my body does. I was actually feeling ok last night and my arms felt fine and today I rabbit holed again.

      100% went through the same thing 3 months ago. Word for word. Neurological test, blood test, EMG and MRI all came back clean. It's probably anxiety or BFS. 🤷🏻‍♀️

      How are you feeling now? the internet isn't always your friend especially when it comes to illnesses. I had my right peck and right tricep twitch non-stop for 2 days...they want away but then a week later I got an eye twitch that comes and goes. Of course now I think I can have ALS and get random tiny twitches. I am doing my best to resist the rabbit hole because I do not have any clinical weakness. I read that in 2 months you will def see weakness so im hoping logic kicks in on July 3rd.

      I have the same thing, been twitching all over my body for 3 years and now have perceived left arm weakness and hand weakness with dull aches/minor cramps, been to Neuro twice in 3 years and they say it’s BFS, stress, lack of sleep, anxiety. But I’m having a work up done just for the benefit of my mental health, I hope everything is well with you though!

      @EricStorm23 Рік тому +3

      @@LucasBowman-LJB98 I’m sorry to hear it’s been 3 years but they are right. It’s not ALS simple due to the amount of time. Within 2 months you would have had some sort of motor disfunction and in 3 years Lord only knows. You are fine :)

I've had that for 2 years now and my doctor said the EMG showed "neurogenic suffering" in both arms. She said it could be a pinched nerve, but the MRI showed nothing to be concerned, but it still hurts and tingles everyday. Could it be a poorly healed lesion?

      It can be both, and atrophy, which is very visible, not just asimetry, or dents, etc, comes a bit later after the muscle stopped working or is already very weak. Also sudden weight loss can be a sign. It has no pain, no tingling, no numbness, but it can have cramps and spasticity.

    But before getting to point of hand not working at all and other people notice, we would experience these very symptoms of increasing weakness, right? Im seeing a neurologist in 2 weeks. Hope I learn something at that appointment and I don’t just get sent for tests which will be a longer process. My symptoms: awkward feeling walking. Hard to run from walking. Twitching biceps. Left hand slow typing and weak with simple tasks like unclipping dog colllar.

    • @Xsuh
      @Xsuh 10 місяців тому +2

      Not really. Because the problem is your nerves shutting down, you wouldn't start to feel your muscles atrophy until later because you can't use them anymore. The clinical weakness here would be if you literally can't move certain muscles at all anymore, because the nerves are no longer functioning. You probably wouldn't even notice it happening until suddenly one of your fingers or maybe your foot won't respond to your commands anymore. Even if that happens though, ALS is only one of several explanations.
