Snetterton was my local track, I was born and grew up in Norwich. I've been through the Lotus factory and on their test track. Loving your videos, especially the Esprit. Keep up the great work.
Hi George, great episode. I'm restoring my land rover 90 with a v8 upgrade, but on the side I am part way through restoring a Coventry climax featherweight fire pump. This little 1 litre engine has lots of heritage from the second world war, but I am also reminded from your interview with Graham that Chapman took the same little aluminium Coventry climax and raced it in the lotus cars. Cool. Thanks again really loving what you do.
You just made me very jealous, I was thinking that those little lightweight Climax lumps are every bit as deserving to be on a polished stand on display, as a Ferrari engine.
Hi George, keep up the great work. Love this show.1)Guy Martin: My autobiography2) And the Revs Keep Rising: Great drives in Fast cars. Mel Nichols3) Speed, Style and Beauty: Cars from the Ralph Lauren Collection. Winston Goodfellow. All the best :)
I just re-watched the SOUP episode where you were featured, Richie, and I have to say - great work on your own cars. Should serve as inspiration for anyone else out there who wants to get into the 924/944 game. I'm the (un)fortunate sap who got into the red Turbo George shouted out in this one.
Patrick Szczypinski Ah thanks Patrick! I wouldnt say (until)fortunate as those 944 turbos are going up in money so when you finnish the restoration and you want to sell, you wont loose much money. But they are an amazing car yours looks to be in grate condition.
I'm sure I saw his name on the book. But I really think you should keep that gilet for yourself for when you get the lotus back on the road, unless he gave you two of course haha. Cheers. Rob.
Nah just a head cold but I don't mind admitting I don't deal with them that well. Concentration is difficult and the unit the cars are in is damp and cold so I'm staying in bed today because I can't afford to be coughing for 6 weeks.
hey Mate..over your left shoulder whilst you are sitting on your couch..i get glimpses of an exquisite piece of wood..is that a mantel to a fireplace? is it a family heirloom? or just an item collected?
Loving your work! I'm getting on with my mk1 cortina - hopefully it'll be painted next year and being put back together! I rewired it this year, I'd recommend getting a decent mdf board and some steel strips you can replicate the car but it's easy to work on. If you want any photos or details just let me know.
Love to see what you do with the board and strips James. Don't want to put email here but you'll find it on the channel main page under "about". The folks didn't appreciate their dining table being commissioned for a wiring loom years back when I was building my RR
Sorry for the late reply George , I couldn't find your email address but I'll put the whole build thread I've written (it'll cure insomnia!) The electrical stuff is on page 7-8 forum.retro-rides.org/thread/121379/1966-mk1-cortina-weld-repeat All the best! Jim
Pebblie beach here we come !!! WEIGHT... Lithium battery, exhaust manifold as you stated. Lighter tyres. aluminium wherever you can get away with it. Titanium bolts if budget allows.
@@soupclassicmotoring Of course, you realise why I mentioned Sardinia especially? Or is it going to be a surprise? Plus, I absolutely love what your doing here. Great inspiration....
@@Aero-Shack Of course mate, although I'm not into the car necessarily because I've fond memories of the movie. Still there are two good reasons to hit Sardinia now ;)
Have you considered creating a Facebook page to get the word out there? After watching your first video, I wanted to like like/subscribe to it on Facebook (so others would see) but when I checked, I did not find any dedicated pages or groups.
Hiya Matt. Yep have mulled over my social media output on a recurring basis. At the moment its tough to even find time to curate the feed on Patreon which is what I committed to try and concentrate on - it is a huge part of the small money I'm bringing in after all. You spurred me to revisit the whole area again today and I'm wondering is there value in having a fb page literally just to post links to each new episode? It could be all I could manage to do.
Social media is a blessing (exposure) and a curse (time vampire) but even if you just link videos and post a tiny bit of info, I think it would be good to have a presence there. You can even link to your Patreon there too!
Hi George ,really good video, although at 5.08 minutes you called the Range Rover a JEEP. Think you owe us Land Rover types an apology in the next episode haha. Was one of the books by Guy Martin? Keep up the good work. All the best . Rob.
Holy sh*t! Public flogging Rob, I demand it! And from the guy who's been known to reprimand people on that at times :( I'm blaming everything in E.11 on my head cold. Well done on one of the books mate, so far you're in with a chance, what did you twig, his crossed spanners on the back cover? His is the least well known book of the three.
Only 24 hours in Anchorage but enough time to squeeze in episode....... what was it now... (feck, quick rewind, no one will notice).....11. The binge is starting to have strange effects, I’m now thinking with an Irish accent....nurse!
Another Great episode George. Hope you feel better soon! Re the welding, and I hope I'm not teaching the sucking of eggs here, if you aren't already then use weld-through etch primer. Much less burn back and you'll get a better weld too. My preferred go to is UPOL's #2 (www.halfords.com/motoring/paints-body-repair/primer/u-pol-weld-2-primer) even cheaper if you have a trade card or buy in bulk! ;). I still linish the edges back a little (on all weld contact points and sides of panel going in) as clean metal is obviously even better where possible. Keep up the great work! PS. Sevenoaks is one word - not to be pedantic but it's where I'm from ;)
Thanks Sam, I did have some decent etch stuff but it was too expensive the second time around. Should have a better budget next time. Sorry about the Sevenoaks thing, I did google it but obviously got it wrong, nothing I can do about it now. Thanks for the support mate.
No worries re town, was only joking. Am not that sensitive unlike some round these parts! Not sure if there's an easy way to get in touch directly but if there is let me know - may have something for you. S
Cool Sam, I made a few gaffs in E.11, I just wasn't quite operating at full efficiency. If you click on my name just under the video and then go to the about section you'll find my email address. I'm wary of posting it here, although thats probably ignorance rather than for good reason.
Cutting 11mm off a screw to save weight? I know it all adds up, but one good Biriani and a couple of pints of the Black Stuff and it's all gone back on again! Just sayin'. 😁

Very cool! Thanks a mill
Found your channel through Jalopnik article and binge watched every episode! Love it, great stuff. I hope that you keep this going!
Lovely to hear Samuli, E.12 coming soon, hope you like!
I love your editing. showing progress with the human is fascinating
Thank you :)

Another great episode George - you continue to inspire and encourage! Keep up the good work and get well soon.
Glad to try fuel the motivation and think I have the cold licked. Cheers Davy.
Keep up the AMAZING WORK George!!!!
12 days to produce E.12 Edd, thanks for the support pal.

All the best :)
2/3 Winston. The last is tricky and the most rare. I'm offering the gilet to my patrons [on Patreon] first but thanks for your support mate :)
No worries George. Literally have no idea who wrote the third one then! Will have to keep guessing :)
You are original. Please keep sharing.
On it!
Beat up gloves. Yep, you're a mechanic/welder/resto guy. Welcome to the club. Maury
Cheer :)
Another amazing episode glad to see another Porsche fan out there!
With a million 911's out there I think it's the rest of us that have to worry Richie :p

Another awesome production George. Sick and all, you did it again :-)
The 924T begged me to be in the show ;)
She`l be under the knife soon too ;-)
Is that a 924 Turbo I spotted in the background? Nice :)
Yep... here: ua-cam.com/video/w1OxvtQSua8/v-deo.html. Not mine but nice car in petrol blue :)
I'm sure I saw his name on the book. But I really think you should keep that gilet for yourself for when you get the lotus back on the road, unless he gave you two of course haha. Cheers. Rob.
Ha, it was always going to a supporter, it's a smallish XL but a little baggy for me. Cool thing though.
The C pillar patch took a long time to shape. Of course it did. If it was easy anybody could do it.
Took a bit of doing
Great piece of work . Motivating the masses.
You don't need any motivation, you've got it bad ;)
Get a can of etch primer for bare metal .it will key much better than straight primer...love the channel....
Had a couple of cans of that but it was too expensive the last time I was buying, must try harder! Thanks Michael
Hope your feeling better, George...another great video....Thanks :-)
Go on without me Malcolm, I'll only slow you down :D
It's that bad?...We'll send a rescue party back to get you...wait here...don't move..
Nah just a head cold but I don't mind admitting I don't deal with them that well. Concentration is difficult and the unit the cars are in is damp and cold so I'm staying in bed today because I can't afford to be coughing for 6 weeks.
Ooouufff, well you are best resting up as you say. Take care.
Great work again George. Get well soon.
Thanks Chris, I'm grand, just hate being bunged up!
hey Mate..over your left shoulder whilst you are sitting on your couch..i get glimpses of an exquisite piece of wood..is that a mantel to a fireplace? is it a family heirloom? or just an item collected?
the cabinet? ...family heirloom
Cutting screws in half to save weight. Colin Chapman will be up in the great garage in the sky, nodding in approval!
I think so too Dave, thanks :)

Lol Pebble Beach! Looking forward to seeing what the batt and exhaust do for it ;)
@@soupclassicmotoring If you don't mix those two up; there's hope for the old girl !
Another great episode George keep them coming!
Was thinking of the flack you got when I was talking about doing custom work on the Esprit Sid but I thought I'd better leave you out of it ;)
Call in if you are ever near me George!
Been meaning to Sid, the support is getting to the point where I can almost start thinking of a runabout so hopefully I'll be more mobile soon.
So, you'll be taking the Esprit to Sardinia?
Def not ruling it out, it's been on my surfing must see list, but Italy for starters.
@@soupclassicmotoring Of course, you realise why I mentioned Sardinia especially? Or is it going to be a surprise? Plus, I absolutely love what your doing here. Great inspiration....

wow nice editing
Thanks man.
Are you aware that primer is microporous and doesn't afford protection against rust for long?
Another Great episode George. Hope you feel better soon!

What in the infernal hell is that clickety-clackety racket going on throughout his talk!?
You say you want the Lotus to lose weight look luck with it. Your Range Rover was on an extreme weight loss diet.
Yeah will be hard to find excess weight in the Esprit without making a mess of it!
