You can literally do everything with the AI in Arma 3. They screw up from time to time, and they’re definitely a little clunky in the way they go about carrying out certain tasks, but one can straight up set up a massive scale air assault with the AI in Arma 3.

Ever played the Brothers in Arms games? Would love for bohemia to take a page out of that book when it comes to commanding ai team mates. It was simple yet still versatile having only about 6 functions on 4 buttons. If i remember correctly: fall-in/take cover, move to position, suppressive fire, assault/capture position and switch between fire team. The Ai would usually try to find the nearest cover if you gave em move orders to an open position and try adapt to being flanked. Would love to split squad members into separate fire teams, could help a bit with the Cqb in that only a select fire team comes with you rather than a whole squad.
Clear skies and a full moon will brighten things up enough to move around without a flashlight. You can't see too far ahead though. Move slowly and stay in cover.
Ong, especially if you turn a light on they fuckin know exactly where you are from that point on, I have to play solo with detection indicators cause otherwise it pisses me off so bad having them spot me from nowhere while they are in a bush unable to even see
breach and clearing came into arma 3 almost a decade later ... it'll take a while on this but i hope they'll be able to just port it onto arma 4 on day1
Perfect example is the C4 in this video, how people get ruined by hollywood movies and action games Cars can't explode without explosive ammo inside (tank) they get only on fire.

How do you select which ammunition you want to reload with? I just fant figure it out. If i want to reload with tracer or if i want to reload with a flare instead of 40mm HE what button is it mapped to?
The AI update brought me back to the game! its janky and needs some time to get used to all the silly ways the AI can get messed up, but theres nothing like stolling into an enemy base with 20 AI on offical servers. The enemy team dont expect it at all and has made for some really fun times. Love hearing the enemy on their radios screaming about the "massive force approaching" their base 🤣Amazing feature to have added

Tried the vehicles but they tend to roll over and totally confuse the ai ....still waiting for a working game.but it's a good step forward even if I did take 2 years.
When you look at games like Ready or Not where you can command squads (split into 2 units) to SWAT houses/rooms etc it’s strange that it hasn’t been implemented here when commanding an AI unit to take down a building. But then I’m not a programmer.
It's not hard but it is a new thing (in terms of this game) for them to do and would take time, though with the previous games and to my knowledge the ai in this being ripped from arma 3 (could be wrong other comments said it is) I don't understand why it took so long for the initial commands that were previously implemented in the series, they should atleast have been coded to enter buildings and walk through them with command at minimum, it's not like we need it perfect but the ai should atleast be able to walk into a room and shoot if told so, the enemy ai do it all the God damn time, here's a tip, open door equals almost certain death unless they have their back turned to it
Bohemia is so lucky ArmA enthusiasts are forgiving. Releasing this game to a heavy sim community like this is reprehensible! Sticking to ArmA 3 until they get it together.
Honestly I don’t get all the hate. Look at GTA 5, the only car that doesn’t really move on a set path is the taxi when you pay for a quick trip, even then it kind of does. AND THAT IS AWFUL. I would try and get a taxi to take me across the map and it never would make it. ARMA is trying to do the same thing and it’s just as close. It’s not even bad if you keep them on roads.
My game is constantly crashing after around 20 minutes of gameplay. I really hope they fix all issues since the game is very fun to play. I've tried going through troubleshooting to no avail
you know I was totally OK with them not introducing AI driving yet because I was hoping that when they did introduce it, they would be able to fly. Hell they would be able to drive cars and they would be on almost no issues obviously driving AI pretty hard but call of duty. All kinds of games have been doing that kind of stuff since the beginning of video games. Why can’t we do it now? Especially when they only have two major they need to waypoint on the roads for these bots so they know where to go. I don’t think they should’ve focused on it because it barely even worked. It’s pretty much worse than Arma 3, I’ve tried about six times and I don’t think I’ve got to do. I’ve wanted them to do. They pretty much just drive and then they’ll take a random road break. Something stop turn around then they’ll turn back around and go back to the waypoint and then I’ll stop again or do something else it’s ridiculous.

i think you might have force brighter nights set to on in game master mode. Because when I play at night in Reforger I definitely cant see anything most of the time.
If we are talking about combat ai - then YES! They runing straight line (no zigzags like in arma3), can use grenades, take cover. During firefights you can easy do not recognize who is it you fighting with - a player or ai
Yes and no. As someone playing on PC reforger on the new enfusion engine is better and things are alot smoother. But as far as the amount of mods and PvE ops I have to go with ARMA 3, even though A3 has been around for a long time. Don't know what platform you on or what your preferred method of play is, and this is strIctly my opninon as I 'm someone that is not interested in PvP.
There is an AI mod for reforger. From what I noticed the AI will use more intense suppression. They seem to prioritize finding cover instead of just going prone where they are. They can also shoot better than a stormtrooper. They will quickly flank you if you aren't paying attention. I am not sure if the last update broke the mod or not since it was AI related.
Absolutely bro. It’s not just more life like but it’s much easier to work with. When you place soldiers down to defend or attack, that’s it. You know they’re going to act like people. Chill, take positions, patrol, take cover, suppress, throw smoke for cover, shoot flares, nades. They will rush you, flank you, everything one would expect. It’s not perfect, and driving/flying is the worst part of it all. The process of getting them into vehicles and doing shit like that is a bit messy, but it works 50% of the time if you space the vehicles and put them on roads. I put on weekly missions for my friends and I will use reforger over A3 ANYDAY
If Far Cry 5's AI can fly helicopters by themselves (not perfect) and thats a game from years ago. I know Arma should not have any issue with this in a future update
there isnt singleplayer. (yet) i mean you can play coop against ai alone. but if you are talking about story based campaigns - it will be only in arma4
So pissed Bohemia took THIS LONG to add fucking AI DRIVING! I have been a PVE/Coop superfan of Arma since Arma 1, with ovr 2k hours in Arma 3. This has completely soured my opinion of the company. I have no faith in Arma 4.
FFS. BI are developing a new engine (Enfusion), modding / developer workbench tools and 2 new games (Reforger and Arma4) all at the same time. They have always been somewhat over-ambitious and often bite off too much. BI will get there in the end, but fans of Arma need to be patient. I asked for flares 2 years ago and they only just came in now.
you have to know that they are not only making a game with reforger. the are creating a whole new engine. arma reforger is a testing platform for them. they even said this.
Dude I'll be dead before Arma has functional AI I've been playing since 2009. This is something I thought would've been fixed in Arma 3.
Issue is that good AI is overpowered...balance is an issue and replicating lack of awarness makes the AI seem dumb

Once the commander role is implicated, I imagine you could actually play like that with the AI.
there's several mods that do this. i really enjoyed arma commander. there's like 2 more, but can't recall their names.

They made it feel more immersive/intuitive than most any other game I can think of its true.

Nighttime in my game was a lot darker than what it looks like with your gameplay. I wonder if moonlight is a factor...
Moonlight and I think if you create a scenario you can set for brighter nights.

Robots can move in real life among us, but AI can't in Reforger? But most annoying thing is an AIs night vision without goggles.

It would be nice is the Soviet weapons had the correct optics. The optic for the SVD is for the AK. The SVD should have a 3-9 scope.
Back when Arma used to be operation flashpoint you could build entire missions including AI piloted helicopters all the way back in the early 2000s

It's LB+back by default, you can find the keybind as the last option of the "common" command settings

I was messing around with the moon settings and none of them were that much darker.

I haven't bought reforger yet because i dont know what its supposed to be. Is it ARMA4? If so, tell me so. If its GT5 prologue tell me that.

You can set up things in game master and play as characters you spawn, that’s how I play.
