You guys should not feel bad about adding or not adding any animals to your farm! You are the ones taking care of them financially and physically. We will watch you regardless of what animals you have or don't. I appreciate "having" relationships with all the animals that live at your house!!
Ralph, you don’t ever have to explain to anyone what or why you do things on your property. We all watch your videos because we love you all and will always support you ❤️
Bless you Ralph for doing the research on mini donkeys and knowing what is right for your household. Too many people don't do their research and it is ultimately the animals that suffer for it. And you are correct about donkeys needing to be with another donkey, like horses they are herd animals.
I had never noticed the Cross on the Donkey until Chad was talking about it. That's awesome. EDIT: I totally understand and respect you for doing all that research on the Mini Donkeys Ralph. I know a channel where a woman and her family have a cockatoo. She's put a "warning" ? I don't think that's it, but she explains how long they live and all that goes into taking care of them. I watch the videos when she posts them. My sister was wanting one and I sent her the research on what this woman had learned. My Sis doesn't want one now, but she watches those videos more than I do now. Thank you for being a responsible pet parent.
I have a cockatiel and while I love her to bits, I don’t recommend parrots as pets. Many think oh look cool bird, don’t do any research and many birds end up rehommed and birds end up bonding with their owners and it’s tragic for them to be rehommed. We’ve had her for now 12yrs. She’s awesome.
@@mommabird2813they are amazing birds. They do reach a grand age and you have to give them a lot of attention otherwise they can pluck their feathers out. I took one rescue that was a plucker, it was heartbreaking, never could cure it completly and she wasn't alone either 😢 a parrot can easily outlive it's owner. I only have two canaries now. I prefer to watch bird videos. I have two 28 year old horses that takes up all my time to look after them properly ❤
Thank you Ralph for taking such good care of your animals. And for reading up on animals instead of just going out and buying them because you think you want one. Blessings from OKC.♥️
You get what you feel comfortable with , it makes NO difference what ‘Jo Blow’ down the road has, you do you and we will hang in there with you and Leann! 🙏❤️
Grandpa it sounds like you really did your research and made the right decision for your farm in regards to donkeys. Revel and Rylie seemed to really enjoy the snow. Blessings and love to you both.❤🐕
I took my dog to the Vet last month. The Vet said her blood pressure was up I asked her how can you tell and she said the whites of her eyes are red. She is on blood pressure medicine so she increased it a little, my little dog is 15 years old.
Grandpa, if only everyone put as much thought into getting an animal... people need to realize channels like yours and your family do not purchase animals for 'content'. You guys are the real deal❤ if anyone pushes for that, then they should go by one for themselves. I do want to send my condolences to the Doss family members on here who are hurting tonight over losing a loved one. Lastly, please don't feel the need to apologize for going back and forth over the mini Donkeys. As I said, most of us understand this is your real life, not a TV show, and shows so much about your character❤
Good for you Ralph and Lea Ann in researching and making an appropriate decision for your farm and family with respect to animals. It demonstrates the commitment you want to be able to make to your animals. I’ve watched so many different channels that almost go on a buying spree of animals without knowing about the breeds, their needs etc and then they end up being upset and having to move the animals along and blame the animals because they didn’t adjust to their surroundings. Cudo’s to you both, beautiful advice. Love your video’s and family. Stay warm. ❤❤
I watch a channel right now that just buys animals on a whim. A lot from those sales where they really don’t know whether they are healthy or not. If it’s me, I’m buying from a reputable individual and I’ll do my homework prior to buying. It’s so hard to watch channels that just buy and buy. Seems like just to make their kids happy and keep their channel going. I’ll unsubscribe in a heartbeat when the animals are taken care of. And sometimes their kids.
We take our little Scottie for walks around our 58 acres and he does his duties all the way around the edges...it’s really quite interesting to watch him. Thanks for another awesome video Ralph! God Bless!
I like that you really looked into the mini donkeys. They would be cute but you are right, it would be alot to add to your duties and stress level, worrying about the safety of all concerned.
I love seeing Rylie and Revel being so playful in this cold weather. They are so cute rumbling and tumbling with each other. All of the animals have nice warm places to go when they want to get out of the elements. I am so glad you did a lot of research about the mini donkeys, and came to the decision that they are not something you will get. I do agree that some more pygmy goats in the spring will be good. Fox and P-Dub would probably like a few more friends. Regarding the piggies playing musical bowls, that is totally normal with food driven animals. Even the goats and dogs do it, too, if given the chance. Blessings to you all.

Ralph I am glad that you did more research on the donkeys. My stepdad was a cattle man not a huge heard 200-300 head, he said "I wouldn't never own donkeys again!" He told me that their moody, stubborn and required extra care. He did have a goats for awhile but settled on cattle and planting wheat, Milo, corn, soybeans and hay. He told me a farm didn't cover all the bills and to always have a back for those tough years of animal loss and crop loss. He had a full-time business in town automotive and did farming too. I remember every summer from the age of 12 until I graduated helping run the wheat trucks to the grain silo in town. The first year I was a little short to reach the pedals and see over the dash so I got 3 huge phone books, my step brother cut some blocks and bolted them to the pedals and away I went to town. It was long days and nights through all kinds of weather. It's not for the faint of heart that's for sure. Thank You for sharing your day with us. Leeann the look on your face when Ralph said "I usually don't procrastinate!" LoL 😂 My sister is still snowed in in Western Kansas after the blizzard conditions Sunday and Monday. This next storm is not suppose to be as bad for us but I don't think that they can really predict the weather. I am ready and have been since September. We always lose power so we have backup heaters, a fireplace and a small generator to maintain some creature comfort while waiting for things to come through. Be safe, stay warm! I love the way the snow mutes the sound, and at night looking out through the window, with the light off, the moonlight on the snow, it seems like for a while the world is pure. I could do that all day and night.
I admire the time you take to research what animals to get. You have the animal's wellbeing in mind and not just leap into something before you have all the facts. Mini donkeys are sweet and loving, but not all of them are. I watch videos that show the good side of them, but they can be a problem too. I agree with you about adding more goats. Even that might be a challenge, but you will handle it. God bless you all and stay safe and warm. Love you.❤
💞 I think you made a well thought out decision on the mini donkeys. Your current animals get along great and too many new faces might upset the apple cart. 😜
Love how you make sure your animals are warm and fed the proper stuff to keep them warm through the cold. It's funny how Riley and Rev have no issue with the cold. They are romping and playing like it was summer for us! Man, are they dirty though! LOL! Whatever kind pig Loretta is, she looks like her fur/hair could handle the cold, better than the Koonie, Koonies. The goats are like, " Get me in that shelter!" LOL! Ralph, you are really good to look at the pros and cons of owning a mini donkey. I honestly had no idea they lived that long! WOW! Well, getting more goats might help, and maybe there will be one that us similar to Batman. Great video! God bless.😊❤
Hi Grandpa and Grandma, that's great that you got the tarp up for the girls. Looking forward to the video. You did the right thing research before you get another animal. I've heard you need a good farrier nearby and a vet hospital that can look after that animal. That's being responsible. The Pups really enjoy the cool weather & snow so much fun watching them. ❤&🙏
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts regarding the future animals on the farm and setting up the future of the animals and their caretakers. God bless your journey.
After hearing your explanation on mini donkeys not being a good fit, it makes sense to get another kind of animal. Good luck finding your next addition to Grandpa Doss Farms. 😊🇨🇦
I am so glad you did such careful research on the donkeys. 2 minis would require 2 acres of good pasture, that is cross fenced to rotate pasture for good management. You are so right to be cautious about mixing them with the other animals. You have a great balance of animals now, and you are managing them well. Adding up to two more goats would be within your capability, though you would probably have to rearrange the feeding area to keep PW and Fox from bullying the newbies. God blessed the prudent!
The fireplace looks so warm, cozy & inviting! I'd fall asleep in front of it as well LeaAnn! The lights on the mantel are beautiful! They provide great night lights all year round. Donkeys or no donkeys? I am here for you both, regardless as to any additions. You do make some valid points as for your reasoning for not getting them. Love you both & God bless you!
You are a wise man!! You do your research! And yes, it is you that have to care of the animals. not us viewers! I'll watch whatever animals you have. I do miss Smokey, every video with the 2 pups!! And of course BATMAN!! Take care of yourself and LeAnn!!
Hey Grandpa they don’t need more food, just need a high percentage 17% pellets and just cracked corn for them. The percentage keeps them ull while corn keeps them warm. Are they getting any oyster shells or anything like that. ❤❤❤❤ look at those puppies, adorable!! It’s -17 C here in kamloops Canada! Going to get colder!! ❤❤
I miss my chickens. They really are amazing creatures. The harmony that your animals share is uplifting. Your voice is also soothing. Thank you for the videos. Best wishes for your family in 2024.🎉❤
You are tooo cute Grandpa! Grandma, bless her heart, was just sitting there listening to you explain about the mini donkey situation. She did look a little tired but almost exactly at the same time she said it, I was thinking....Grandpa did you have coffee?! 😂 😂 And Grandma was probably thinking... Thank you Caroline. I’m hoping to avoid it. I had to run in and out last Monday just to pick up some files so I could work somewhere else. I hadn’t even got out of my Pilot when I got a text from Matt telling me Do Not Come In Here! I explained to him that I had to pick up files and a few things to be able to work somewhere else. He got down right mad. He told me he didn’t want me getting sick. I said, well son I don’t want to get it either but I have to have stuff that has to be done this week. I covered my mouth, ran back to my office, filled my backpack and ran out the door. I got ready to drive off and he sent me a text apologizing. He said he just didn’t want me getting sick. I told him I understood. ❤️ He’s such a sweetheart and I understood. I worked at a clients all week. He’s better now but it took a lot out of him. He doesn’t have much energy and this cold snap in weather keeps him inside too. ❤️
Well done on this video Grandpa. Stay warm as best you can. Lovely to see you and Grandma in the house and your honesty about mini donkeys. Its your lives, land and a good decision made on not taking on donkeys. You did the research needed to help make your decision. Such a shame others dont do the same. Enjoy your evening by the firs, sound very calming and peaceful. Xx🙋👍🏡❤️
Hi Ralph and LeaAnn. I admire you for not going for the mini donkeys and how you came to that decision. You have to always do what is best for you. Watched from the get go and never missed an episode on all your channels and wouldn’t have it any other way. Stay warm. Take care and God bless 💕🙏
Y'all stay warm, it's been blustery, cold and snowy since Saturday night. The storm clouds finally passed and we now have clear skies and plummeting cold temps. Might get a tiny bit of snow tomorrow night. It look from a temperature map, that the whole country is seeing colder weather.🤔😳🥶 It is good that you have been doing your research on donkeys. I feel before anyone adds a new animal, through research should be done before hand so you can determine whether or not they would be a good fit for your farm. I've seen too many videos where animals were added as a want and not a need, with no research done at all. And it doesn't always work out. Good luck with the future of your farm, I look forward to seeing how it evolves. 💖💖💖
Australians come over to New Zealand to ski at Queenstown [ South Island] and National Park [ North Island } New Zealand is made up of 3 parts, North Island, South Island and Stewart Island. In Australia there is some parts that have snow.
One of my labs, she is now 3, doesn’t like going to the vet and her ears always get bright red. Our vet told me this is a stress response, so your dogs with the reddened eyes when they go to the vet could also be the same
I love how the goats finished eating down in their shed, but came up to the covered porta hut by the dogs🥰! I’m glad you had a tarp for the piggies porta hut too😊! Smart to research and then decide about adding animals😁! Thanks for sharing, take care and God Bless🙏🏻🤗💕!
The snow amount you got is what here in Iowa call a skift of snow. Here in Iowa, we just got 9 inches of snow. I love that you have done all the research about mini donkeys🫏 and if they would or not work for your farm. So sorry about the Doss Family Farm member . love and prayers for her family😢. Can't wait for the next time ❤❤❤❤
All the kids seem to be enjoying the first snow. Ohio is mostly snow free so far. Up along the lake, the snow belt has had a few days off and on, but we might get some tonight and again on the weekend.
Ralph from the first discussion regarding getting new animals, as a retired Veterinarian, I would suggest a mini horse!!! It would be the best fit with the animals you already have!!! Small mini horses get along with dogs, cats, pigs, goats & even chickens!!! I think a mini horse or 2 would be ideal!!! You would have to have farrier care about once a year but other than that they are very healthy!!! Give them wormer once a year only!!! They graze & eat hay!!! You can give them a little grain if you like but it's really not necessary!!! Love Y'all & God Bless all the Doss Family!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Farrier care once a year ??????????? Mine see the farrier once every 4 to 6 weeks. If it was left to once a year, the rescues would be after you. Wormer.. you get a sample to see the level of worms in the stool and worm accordingly. It might be too late for the mini if done just once a year. Also, there is nothing on Ralph's land to graze on for a miniature horse. Sorry, but I speak as an experienced mini horse owner.
@@MaureenVos Sorry sweetheart but I'm a Veterinarian & you must be using an unskilled farrier unless you have your minis strictly on soft pasture!!! And the wormer we recommend is a once a year treatment!!! You are not correct with your assumptions that your way is the only way!!! Although I'm now retired I still keep up with the new & improved treatments for all the animals!!!
Snowing on and off for the last three days here in Wisconsin with more on the way. Any animals you choose for the farm will be well taken care of and loved. If you want something mini you should look into mini cows! From what I have seen they are loving sweet animals. No matter what you choose they will be very lucky to have you and grandma. Blessings always.
You really need to bring that to your vet. It can be many different things. My German shepard has that issue. I was lucky and it is nothing. I can give eye drops but that dont make much of a change in the eyes. It can be many different things though and just call vet and ask what they think.
We watch for a lot more than animal content. The Doss's have become like family to many of us, and we like just sitting and chatting with you. Catching up on things, checking in on everyone. Well, that and to watch the wormy dance. 😉

I admire the time you take to research what animals to get, God Bless you and your Family
Wow!! Someone from my neck of the woods! Hello fellow okanaganian! Okanagian? Lol.
@@calamityjane6884 small world!
A mini horse would give you much more of the love you are looking for. Horses love human contact.
Good morning Ralph 🙏 ❤stay safe and warm
Well done . Hard choices but your choices are backed by facts and info.
I love the Doss family. You're people that love the Lord and it shows.
God Bless you.
Grandma, you're looking better each week! You go girl!
Prayers offered for the follower's family that passed. God bless.
Ralph hurry so I can get to my blanket and love seat in front of the fire! 🥰😅 Stay warm and rest! Yes, prayers, for those in the way of this winter storm and continued prayers for healing and for consolation! 🙏🙏
Grandpa I don't even want to tell you the temp here in the RGV Texas. I wish I could sit in front of the fireplace and visit with y'all. Blessings! 🙏🙏❤
Grandma. What ever you do. Don’t get sick. I hope Matt is feeling better soon. You all take care of yourselves. ❤God bless you all!❤
Thank you Caroline. ❤️
@@grandmadossfarms thank you for that kind reply! I’m glad Matt is better! I hope you all are feeling alright. Stay safe and warm! Love you all!❤️
I ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO GRANDPA DOSS FARMS 😊
GET TWO !!
I like how you make sure that you’ve giving the goats & pigs equal shares!
Ralph and Leeann, You do YOU! BUT I'll not stop watching your channel. The Doss Family are my Go to channels when I'm on UA-cam.
It look from a temperature map, that the whole country is seeing colder weather.🤔😳🥶
It is good that you have been doing your research on donkeys.
Our vet told me this is a stress response, so your dogs with the reddened eyes when they go to the vet could also be the same
So sorry to family that lost their Mom and loyal member of the Doss family channels.😢🙏🙏🙏
Donkeys and LGD WILL Fight! GPA if anyone can make that work that would be YOU! GOD BLESS!
I’m so excited to have found this channel.
Condolences and prayers for the family and friends of our fellow subscriber who has gone to her heavenly home. ❤😢
So sorry to hear about the loss of the Doss family member, prayers are on the wind for her families loss.
Shhh. If you don’t tell Grandma we won’t say a word. Love watching you guys!
I heard that!! 🤣❄️❄️❄️
LOVE FROM IOWA! 😊❤❤❤
Grandpa
Every time I see you and Grandma and your son's with their families I think of Noah and his family, all the different animals that you take care of and the way you love each one differently. I am truly inspired by your love and devotion to each one animals or humans. I truly love all of THE DOSS'S and their families. Thank all of you for sharing your lives with us. Can't wait for the next time ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for doing your homework on mini donkeys. I wish more people would do that before buying or adopting pets.
Any animal you get will receive the best of live and care. As we see on all your videos.
All the kids seem to be enjoying the first snow. Ohio is mostly snow free so far. Up along the lake, the snow belt has had a few days off and on, but we might get some tonight and again on the weekend.
Prayers to the family of that woman.......🙏🏼
Great job, LeAnn!
Thank you Barbara. 😊
You need some Valais Black Nose sheep. ADORABLE!!! Or mini Highland Cows! Lol
Please tell Matt get well soon
We use to stack straw bales at the entrance of our pig houses. Insulates, blocks the wind, and moisture doesn't rot it like hay.
Prayers for the member who passed and her family
Beautiful scenery, looks like a black, gray and white photo. That would make a lovely picture for your home. Stay safe and warm. Love and prayers.
I am so glad you did your homework on mini donkeys. You took the words out of my mouth when you said you arent a show and tell.
Prayers for matt continuation of.good health and that grandma remains healthy
I love the snow on trees also. It is so beautiful..
You really need to bring that to your vet. It can be many different things. My German shepard has that issue. I was lucky and it is nothing. I can give eye drops but that dont make much of a change in the eyes. It can be many different things though and just call vet and ask what they think.
You both said that it was hot in the Vet's office ❤ Praying for all of you. ❤❤
We watch for a lot more than animal content. The Doss's have become like family to many of us, and we like just sitting and chatting with you. Catching up on things, checking in on everyone. Well, that and to watch the wormy dance. 😉
