- We spent the last week getting the dirt graded around the perimeter of the pond and now we are going to need water on the outside as badly as we need it on the inside of our DIY pond build.

Just saw your video-I’m wondering if people in swimsuits are going to start walking out of the corn field. “Build it, and they will come!”
That was a great movie…
Field of Speedos.
@@kmccontube...ppfffftttt! Uh huh... think bikini's... thongs .... then they'll come . Lol
I’m like, careful what you wish for. Not likely to be supermodels coming out of that corn haha
If he builds it, they will come
This finish looks good, now just need water to finish her off and maybe little fountain to keep water moving and fresh. As fresh as it can be anyway.
it was really cool to hear captain kleeman mention you on his channel. He has a lot of admiration for you.
He's a great guy. I admire him as well.
Nice touch on the end for old JB. RIP Jimmy
Can’t rush a labor of love. This will all be here for a generation and the memories will last forever.
What a fantastic finish to the video with the tribute to Jimmy Buffet. Truly an American treasure.
I know "Farm life" is a LOT of HARD work. But you are having way too much fun! Thanks for the update.
Well impressed, can’t wait to see the end result .
Looking good!
RIP Jimmy ❤
That's some planning and workmanship to be very proud of.
I came for water in the pool, but got dirt around it. That's life I guess...have a nice weekend! =)
Am just reading about Sir Edmund Hillary. In his years after Everest, he built schools etc, in Himalayan villages. To compact soil on airfield runways, he would have rows of people link arms, and dance on the dirt, fuelled by local chang beer. Happy Labour Day!
this guy showing more attention to dirt than I have anything in my whole life. Great work!!! Looks awesome.
😂😂
"COME MONDAY" was my favorite Jimmy song. Written on Labor day weekend I heard. Love your channel and all your hard work.
Looks great. Thanks for the tutorials about leveling vs sloping and making sure to check for crowns/humps and such. Nice tribute at the end. This is the song that popped in my head after I heard the news and went to post on Facebook yesterday morning. Seemed like it was/is fitting. Cheers to you, Jimmy, 'til we meet again.
"Headin' out to San Francisco
For the Labor Day weekend show.
I got my Hush Puppies on,
I guess I never was meant for glitter rock 'n roll.
And honey, I didn't know that I'd be missin' you so,
Come Monday, it'll be alright.
Come Monday, I'll be holdin' you tight.
I spent four lonely days in a brown L.A. haze,
And I just want you back by my side."
Labor day weekend won't be the same. My favorite song of his. Nice post.
I love that song as much too. Hearing Buffett songs instantly makes me think of vacation with family. Sad to think he's gone now.
I struggled between using "Margaritaville" or "Come Monday". Especially since it was Labor Day weekend.
Went with Margaritaville just cause the intro is so recognizable to most and I thought if I kept it under 10 seconds I wouldn't get demonitized. But alas, they caught it anyway so I had to edit the ending out and now anyone watching won't know what the Buffett comments are about! :)
@digdrivediy , I would have chosen Margaritaville, too. Definitely, more people recognize it. I was wondering if YT would do something. It was worth trying, and it was nice while it lasted.
Pond project is looking Good! And so is Bruno as always.
Humpty Dumpty does great work grading like this- he has a great fall.
Good job Dad!
My grandfather has had a 755 forever. Great unit.
Nice tribute at the end there for THE MAN of enjoying bodies of water. Come on rain! Fill this bad boy up so we can see the payoff!🍹
Nice buffet tribute there at the end sir. Happy Labor Day weekend to you and yours. Nice job 👍
Thanks. Enjoy your Labor Day as well!
Your videos are like mini movies. Fantastic!!! I found you this weekend and have been binging them all.
please make longer/more videos. i really enjoy watching your projects
Fantastic finishing work there! Great looking property, helpful daughters and a hot wife! You’ve got it made Neil. Good stuff.
Thanks 👍
Love that you have big equipment to move dirt that most don't even have access to... makes easy work of heavy lifting.
The whole process looks great! Always getting nice!
That little song at the end is a great touch Jimmy Buffett was a great singer my whole childhood I've heard him sing. May he rest in piece.
Now that I've associated your channel with concentric dirt angels and your pool drawing 1920s synchronized swimmers out of the corn in my mind, I got to thinking about your pond's proximity to the field and the upcoming harvest activity. Hmm, monster pond cover incoming?
Informative as usual good to see u using ur small tractor to finish off was worth the build to see it working 🚜
All that hard work is paying off. It looks great. Keep up the good work.
That's the coolest looking concrete work. Awesome shape and that will be a really cool pond when it's all filled up. Subscribed.
The way that box blade slips in right up next to the concrete 😏🤤
I like that too...
Neil where's the Water just kidding I know you are still working on that, the pond project looks absolutely beautiful from above it looks like a water tower layed on its side pretty kool super job on back filling and grading love your yellow Deere please keep us updated on the water fix please enjoy your Holiday weekend, as always love the channel!
Love how the soil came about around the perimeter of the pond. Great vid.
That is gonna look so nice when the grass grows in!!!
Sure hope so! Now just keep the grass clippings off the sidewalk!!!
Neil doesn't matter what people have to say about you, rich or poor, spending or saving..you and your team are giving back mother nature a water body which is a vital part of our ecosystem. So remain happy as you are coz you and your family have come a long way of a beautiful life. Good luck with the pond/ mini lake❤...love from India 🇮🇳
Great job, Neil! Thanks for explaining what you’re doing. I love your attention to detail!
I appreciate that!
Love your videos! Keep ‘em coming.
Nice job. When we put pipe under concrete we put a control joint or tooled joint above it. It's an easy permanent way to mark it. Years later customers will call and ask hey where's the pipe. Look at the control joints.
My wife and I stumbled across your channel a few days ago and love it for many reasons. We are Hoosier transplants to FL and miss the simple things such as the Indiana corn, soft grass, and the great people from the small towns (Fountain City and Richmond). Thanks for sharing! #Smalltownlife #Boilerup #Indianahome #Family #Hardwork
Yes I miss soft grass too. Not a fan of FL grass.
Thanks so much for watching! Glad to be a reminder for you.
I’m excited to see this project through!
Nice pond/swimming area! Never let anyone tell you how to fulfill your dreams or what to do with your own money. It's no one's business but your own.
This guy is a perfectionist who loves playing in the dirt.
It’s funny. I will never build one of these…..no land, no machines, and not smart enough. But I’m fascinated and impressed watching you build it. Great job and entertaining.
Love you guys. Don't ever change.
You may not have water in the pond, but it looks like you are living the American dream so congrats to you and your family.😊
Looking good,I can't wait to see the pond full. Take care and God Bless!!!❤😊
You could ice a cake with that front loader and Bruno!! Great work. You are totally neurotic and I LOVE it!!!! Perfection all around. Your place is beautiful.
Excellent pointers for finding the right grade! Helps us rookies out big time!
gotta fajigger the grade on slope for that there hootenanny, lessen you wind up with puddles. the chooch will stovepipe the draining antler when you get into the rhubarb so don't worry about that
Exactly. This guy gets it...
Great video. Can’t wait to see it with water
I notice dirt will compact naturally so a little higher than you want is a great idea. Boy, your attention to detail is great! Love the leveling tips!
You may have thought of this, but back in PA, if we have water needs and no means, we ask the local volunteer fire company, and for a donation, they bring their pumper truck and fill our needs.
It looks great. The grading work looks amazing. Now all you need is water for the pond.
Great tutorial on elevation and grade. I learned a lot! Have a great weekend!!! Neil and family!! 👍👍👍👍
Beautiful spectaluar results. I would put a survey concrete marker on walkway and bldg. directly above 2.5" PVC line for future use so that you do not need to search if you ever need access or want to dig in the area. This is as nice as I've seen. Ray Stormont
Thanks Ray!
You have a beautiful place. I know it’s hard work because me and my husband do most of the projects around our place. We were blessed with four boys that learned to work beside their dad. Now our boys are in their late twenty’s, early thirties and most of them still work for their dad. Someday in the near future will own and run our Electric Contractors business.
The area looks like a complete different plot with the soil being distributed and graded so perfectly. Cant wait for the grass to grow! The lush green-ness will transform the look again.
I love the pond build ! You have a vacation spot in your back yard !!.. although I built a pond and a swimming pool. Never underestimate a girl and a tractor....
People are so quick to comment not knowing the facts. Quite frankly, it’s got nothing to do with them. Do what suits you & your family. I love that the whole extended family came round to help. Love that your Dad & uncles joined in. Love that you’ve done it on minimal spend.. just found your channel and can’t wait to see how you find a solution to the water issue to then see the end result 😊
First off I love the pond and your grading was awesome. Kinda reminds me of the mine pits we use to swim in when I was a kid in the U.P. (Upper Michigan) I do think your conduit for the electrical was a bit shallow, hope it doesn’t cause you any problems in the future. Look forward to seeing it all done and full of water.
The harder you work the luckier you are. You're a very lucky man. Keep putting in the hard yards.
That is some precision topsoil grading. On the next episode DIY GPS grading system install on a John Deere tractor lol.
Nice post Neil. Thank you for offering up a little chunk of your life.
You bet Mr. Greg! Have a good Holiday sir!
Lots of family fun for years and years to come! Having all the work on video is a great reference to you and others on how things were done. Your daughters are so proud of you! Thanks for sharing!
Looks great can’t wait to see it full of water 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍
Just passing to say that you're truly blessed. What a beautiful family and loving work that you put into your household. I'm a father of two as well and my only wish is to see happy days with my family (I bet it is yours too)! May God keep blessing you all! (and I'll keep watching your home improvements as well). Cheers from Brazil!
Neil, nailed it, great tribute at end. Loved it.❤
I’ve loved watching this build and your workmanship but the nicest part is your focus on your family. God bless you guys. I can’t wait to see the finished product.
Can't believe you forgot the Time Capsule at the bottom of the pond... Amateur hour over here.
Great stuff, was fun to watch the time lapse of all the effort!
Looks AMAZING, and it better, as you put a lot of time into it.
I’m just amazed at your various skills and limitless positivity. My advice, those mean comments are probably from folks who have never broken a sweat.- ignore them. You and your family are awesome and will be swimming next summer in your beautiful pond.
Neil, it’s people like you that make the world go around. Any idiot can comment from their couch, but you’re out there working and grinding; solving problems and making something new. Keep up your drive and discipline. God bless you and thank you for sharing your journey with us.
While I respect and admire his tenacity.... the title of the videos should be 'OVERDOING IT'.
Just finished the playlist and I loved it… thanks for taking time to film it and share it with us
Great job! RIP Jimmy
This video shows one very important fact. Envision what you want for a finish product to be like and work back to where you’re starting from and lay the plan out out to cover the contingencies, then have at it, and the plan is to be flexible enough to cover unforeseen issues ( such as break downs and material cost). Thanks for the video, great series, throughly enjoyed it.
Thanks Terry!
Your backyard is turning out great! Not only am I a fan of you meticulous and diligent dirt work, I'm also a fan of your video work too. I'm learning a lot on both fronts with your videos, so thank you!
Neil, you have made a fantastic looking pond! The skill you have with those machines make that grading look easy, most of us know that is not easy.
Love your videos. You do amazing work. I like the way you pay attention to details. Can't wait to see you and your family enjoying the pond. 💪👍
Your attention to detail is exceptional! You always gave the best commentary and your strategy to do your projects are always explained and in detail! Thabks again and you have the best yard and driveway in the world sir!
Great project! Nothing better than doing it yourself. Many years of good times ahead enjoying the pond.
Great job Neil and interesting to watch your progress.
Can’t wait to watch the progress of your awesome pond!!🤗
Excellent job. That pond looks amazing 👍
Love the channel and videos. Jealous of the rural farm life. Seems very healthy for family growth and making memories!
First of all… there is no greater salute to the meaning of Labor Day than to relax after spending a hard week sweating over a job!
Second, celebrating the life of the man that defined ‘relaxation’ is a perfectly fitting tribute!
My buddy Brandon, of Elite Earthworks, is a master at finish grading. His father started him out as a teen in his landscaping business. He has hundreds of videos on finishing landscapes.
What you did is pretty much on track with how he does it.
✔️Filling and packing to just below the concrete.
✔️Flat grading to slope away from the sidewalk.
✔️ Hand raking the edge.
✔️ Blowing off the concrete to finish.
The only thing left is seed, straw and water… perfectly timed to be grown-in before winter. (Had you done this last month, you’d be running sprinklers daily.)
You got this perfectly man… Niice!
Boy I admire the heck out of Brandon and his finishing abilities. That guy is slick with a skid steer. I'm grateful for the reference to his work.
Hopefully you're able to get a little R&R in on this holiday weekend as well. I'm typing this from the remodeled bed of our RV in Battle Creek, Michigan. It was nice to take off since there is still no rain in the forecast. But, it will come eventually.
Hope you have a great week my friend!
@@digdrivediy enjoy!
I wonder if you could collect the water from your barn during a rain event which could help fill your pond a bit quicker. Maybe if level ever gets low during hot summer evaporation, something you can rely on when more water is needed.
Love this! Well done Neil. Inspiring on many levels beyond just good old fashioned work ethic. Love the family values and the pride in your work. Keep it up mate!
Watching your videos are entertaining, educational and kinda relaxing to be honest. Great job explaining everything. Love how the whole family pitches in. Well done.
Your finish grade looks perfect!
Looks beautiful!
I love these videos! A few years ago I did all my landscaping at our house and the top soil and grading took me a long time too. but I was working with a wheelbarrow, shovels and a rake 🤪. It took me a long time but it’s really satisfying to have done it myself. Watching you do this reminded me of that satisfaction. Wish I would’ve had these tools but especially this education!
It’s very impressive what a motivated and knowledgeable person can do with the right tools kudos
I love how time is not an issue. He is willing to spend the time to get it done right. The way he wants it. No deadline. Done when it's perfect.
Such a wonderful looking family. Thanks for the update. I'll be waiting for the next one.
Hi Neil and Family, this is absolutely stunning work, from design , build and finishing, it's going to look beautiful, my hat 🧢 raises to you all. Kind regards Danny 🇬🇧 ❤🇺🇸
My opinion. Leave at least 2 inches of height between gravel and the sidewalk. Any closer and the sidewalk inevitably becomes a gravel magnet.
Love seeing Bruno at work and that grader box is slick 👌 grading work is tedious but it sure pays to do it before the grass grows in. Nice work 👍
I love getting to use 'ole Bruno.
You can tell a lot about a person from the condition and cleanliness of their built environment and work gear - mechanical equipment and clothing! 100% impressed!!
I love what you are doing and wish you nothing but sunny days and clear water in the pond. People who work hard deserve nice things all the best to you and your family all the way from England 🏴
Great job, I as well as you I'm sure, can't wait to see how things look with green around the pond.
Happy Labor Day guys! Pond looks awesome!
