@@digdrivediy why didnt you landscape the water pooling to also feed your pond ... and have the pond with an overflow run off .... in essence make the water travel around your property keeping it watered making a deeper water table and using the water to fill ALL your needs ...
      .
if your land slopes towards you house from the fields then make water channels that criss cross back and forth with smaller holding ponds here and there ... then all the rainfall follows the water channels feeds your fields fills your pond and then clears ff down the road side ditch ....
if it flows away from the road ... then get the high side on the edge of the property and set a water flow path for large flows and regular rainfall to feed your land before it makes it back to the street

Tip for next time you use straw blankets. Zip tie on all staples so you can find and remove easily. Remove staples and roll up blankets after grass has germinated and is poking up through the blankets. Also not a mess with the mesh later.

I’ve just discovered your channel only recently with the 318 build series and have been watching a lot of your videos. Didn’t realize you were so close to where I’m at (St. Joe/Spencerville). Hopefully all this rain we’ve been getting lately is helping the pond fill up! Why not run a temporary non-perforated tile from the downspouts on the house out into the pond during rain events and then remove the tile after the rain is done so that it isn’t an eye sore or kill the grass? This is something we have done in the past that’s worked really well. Love watching your projects! Keep it up! God bless.

With the spike specifically around the pond it may have been advantageous to mark them with like underground utility flags so once the grass cam in you could remove them and avoid any issues of barefoot kids running around the pool area and finding them. At least that would be my concern with them.

In the construction world, straw mats are used where erosion is a concern. The netting in the straw mat gets incorporated into the sod layer helping hold everything together. Only thing I might have done different is I would have thrown a couple bags of annual ryegrass out also for a cover because rye stands in about a week, grows very well even into the cold season, and is only around the first year and is completely gone once you get a good stand of fescue, bluegrass, ect...not to mention that rye will grow almost anywhere and any soil condition. Its some hardy stuff.

You live in a beautiful area and what a lovely family you have. Your dad is a real soldier, I can fully understand why he wants to be over at your place and helping his son out, I am much the same with my son.

on the spikes holding the mats down , after the round part rusts off you have a rusty nail in the lawn, just an idea, after your grass is grown, use a metal detector and remove the spikes.

I love using the straw blankets. Makes such a neat looking finish. The steel staples are no problem whatsoever, they will rust away rather quickly. The plastic netting however, oooffff.
I learned after my first time using the mat. Once your grass germs and gets up 4-5 inches tall, I would recommend pulling the straw mat up. If you leave it it never goes away. It'll be all wrapped in your mower spindles. It makes the worst mess. The straw mat pulls up easily and burns up leaving no mess if you just pile it up.
As always, great job on the project. Your OCD always makes mine happy. 👍🏻

Would it be possible for you to put gutters in the grey building and red building near the pond? Then have those gutters collect rain water (if it’ll rain) and funnel it right into the pond. Expanding the footprint of rainwater collection to fill the pond that much faster. Then after the pond is filled you could add some 5-10 thousand gallon collection barrels to fill and save for not a rainy day.
