Yup. In the L & G communities you can find characters called Daddy's. We do not dominate the "daughter" sexually in fact, if sexual feelings develop we end the relationship (cause they are grown now and we are not pedorape fetishists). We dominate girls, but in a protective and/or mentoring way not a sexual one.
This and "to the boys who may one day date my daughter" are 2 of the best poems from parents.

loved the gender neutrality of him saying "person" instead of boy, it was obviously on purpose and is one of the things that show how much thought was actually put into his poem

I was so ready to tell him that he doesn't own his daughter's body half way through and then he said all the right things and I was like oops, forgive me, good sir, would you like another daughter?

I loved that he took it the total opposite direction I though the poem was gonna go into. The soft, mushy, everything will be perfect poem about having a girl and took it into a more reality based place.
This poem did two things for me:
1) Made me fall even more wildly in love with Javon Johnson
2) Made me miss my own dad

omg im in tears. this was so beautiful and he would make an amazing father. i love how he mentioned slut shaming and that he wants her to be able to own her own body. i love how he said "person" instead of assuming his daughter would be with a male. i love that he said he would wear short shorts if she wore them, that he would take her wherever she wanted to go, that they would "wear inside jokes so big on our faces that you could live forever on them." this was truly amazing. i wish my father was like him.

I've been binge watching poetry for the last 20 mins and this is the first one that made me tear up

Whewwww, at first I caught myself thinking... this might be his most boring one yet... and then BAM, he switched it up and brought it home. Goosebumps and all. Thank you for that last part. I wish I had heard a man say something that genuine to me as a young woman!

When he said "some night we will slow dance together until we tire out and fall asleep" I'm not yet 18 I'm not yet 15 but my daddy has stopped doing that. He's stopped spending time with me. I remember the nights we slow danced together and soon I will have forgotten them because they stopped so soon.
