My mom has stage 3 breast cancer,
I cry every night because I fear she won't make it to see me grow and that I'll be alone in the world,
    Beautiful poem by the way

Wanda The Indigo my mom was diagnosed with stage 3 lobular and ductal breast cancer back in 2007. She's been in remission since late 2008. she'll beat it!

I recently had to have pre-cancerous cells and the surrounding area surgically removed, as a pre-cancerous mole was growing back. I also have an internal vaginal lump, and my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at 24 and dead of breast, lung, and bone cancer by 38. My grandfather currently is in remission from prostate cancer. Let's just say the phrase "this hits close to home" is too much of an understatement to use here... so the overall message just tore my heart to absolute shreds.

My mom has been given 3 months and I can't stop crying. How did we get here? How can I take her home and watch the beautiful woman who raised me to be so strong suffer so much

Wow.... speechless It was vulnerable, transcendentin it's tone and most of all you took your pain and turned it into a beautiful effigy for your stepfather and the city you love. This is artistic poetry. I am humbled.

Sometimes these cells group together forming tumours causing damage to the healthy body, often these cells break apart causing damage to other parts of the healthy body
This is the best definition of gentrification that I have

Is it me, or do certain poets like him have their own sort of pattern in the way they present their works, like Javon Johnson in the way he uses the words "church" and "prayer" as his main metaphora, how he expresses the depth of his concern towards the topic he presents with the changes in the tone of his voice and such?

    • @javonjohnson5553
      @javonjohnson5553 5 років тому +3

Yes. You are correct. I am a PK and, no matter how much I try to avoid, the church finds its way into whatever I write. However, it must be stated that I think of religion in a radically different way than I was taught as a child but its still and enormous part of who I am.

On an (irrelevant) medical note, check yourself regularly. Most cancers are not a death sentence, but if you choose to forego chemo you are NOT weak. Remember you are loved, regardless of the path you choose.

Wow!! What an amazing way to speak to one's heart. An outstanding analogy. I am aware of the feelings that accompany gentrification, feeling scared, feeling out of place, feeling lost. I never thought of it in terms of cancer and the body. Well illustrated. A powerful piece. Thanks for sharing a powerful piece of you.

Truth, thank you for making your voice heard. To express oneself to express what is happening, seems to help and open eyes to look for change.
Thank you Sir for sharing with us, your pain at such cost but for such need of awareness and for inspiration that i'm sure not only i have looked upon.
You really did it well, i cannot seem to explain how amazing this was.
I hope you have good luck in your further spoken words. :)

Beautiful words of wisdom. Cancer has no limits, till death do us part. Pretty please in particular, now listen, the lights will bring truth. Breathe in, listen. Bare the rest for me today. And tomorrow might speak the truth. Now let's spend time together, speak on truth,no matter whuht!

"I know this one hurts, cry it out if you have too; but find a way to keep your head up." Ironic advice that I am sure he is trying to apply positivily to get through his pain. This was beautiful, and you are not alone. Now if you will excuse me I need to get a towel I almost drowned in my tears.

I remember being told I had a foreign mass in my brain... What an incredible simile that was created in this poem. I think my favorite quote is "...Meanwhile, my step-father died and no one seemed to ask the important questions like 'How did we get here, how did the body eat itself alive, and where did the God go in all of this..."
All I have to say is what a truly magnificent poem.

Really enjoy this channel and this video but just have to say its better when filmed in one shot. I want to watch one shot so I can focus easier on the poet and on what is been said, it just feels more natural coming from one angle, less vloggy.
