It's only when you get away from the grubby dirty towns and cities and visit places like this you realize just how beautiful this country really is, thanks, love your vids.
The small sculptures on the monument are depictions of the children born to the couple. The ones with the sculls are those who died as children/ infancy. Hope this helps. Love your channel. Greetings from a Danish fan.
Actually the sculptures with children walking behind are "funereal mementos". They are to remind people they will die to. It started way back when slaves would follow soldiers who came back from winning fierce battles telling them they will die to apparently so they wouldnt get huge egos. So now from the 13 century its common to see pics, sculptures and iron works of people being followed by someone carrying skulls.
Mrs H 🇬🇧 ..Whitby, North Yorkshire is the beginning of count Dracula who then flew off to Pennsylvania 😉 ..RIP John & thank you for your service in saving & protecting future generation ...Thank you Paul .. This was a pleasure to watch for remembering our dead...❤
Wow what a beautiful location, the walk up to the church was lovely and what an added surprise of the amazing ruins and an open church as well steeped in history. A very intriguing headstone definitely an unusual thing. Thank you for taking us on this journey with you very enjoyable
Before the latest vlog is posted, I like to thank you for what you do. Your vlogs are original, superior to anything that has gone before and I hope it continues, sending love and positive thoughts to you and your family
Hello Paul From Australia 🇦🇺 This was an unusual vlog, set amongst a beautiful rural English landscape. And impressively filmed, capturing the ambience of history and dear George’s untimely death, poor fellow. I really enjoyed your drone footage, spectacular views indeed. Cheers mate from Oz
Hi Paul I am thoroughly enjoying these vlogs. No one from what I can see does this from Uk. So empathetic to those who have fallen. Much love and respect from South Wales x
Loved this one Paul, it’s absolutely stunning. The head stone wow never seen one like that before. Thank you Paul for this and all your work for us it’s much appreciated
Paul, so very well done on this fabulous part of Olde England. Love the scenery and the peace here, and what wonderful Folks must look after the church and the ruins of that fabulous historic building. The gravestone is an absolute beauty and so very different from what we are used to I am sure. So respectfully done Paul as always. Great video as usual and the drone footage just added the finishing touches!
Paul!! This was absolutely woah, I'm proper drawn to this from the beginning, thank you so much for taking us to the beautiful place, definately has feeling. Awww he was too young and just over a week before Christmas, rip George Lewis ❤xx
I absolutely love that headstone and what a lovely church! These type of films are very interesting. After moving away from England I miss going round old churches and graveyards so your channel allows me once more to see “my “ beautiful Britain once more- THANK YOU ❤
Proper felt spooked . The round windows of the church tower looked like a face at the beginning . Stunning find of that beautiful ruin . Then back to being spooked as you zoomed in on crucifix. Was convinced two bright eyes behind it . Once you see can’t unsee it
My first time visiting your page. I’m an old American great grandmother who lived in England for four years many years ago. I loved it there and I enjoyed your video very much. I’m a amateur genealogist with ties to England from the 1600’s. Thanks for sharing this beautiful place.
Woah, this video was absolutely captivating! I'd definitely love to see you doing more of these obscure grave visits. That headstone was something else... macabre for sure, but also beautiful. I loved that you acknowledged your viewers who can't get out of the house, and that we appreciate your videos on another level. As one of those viewers, I thank you for taking me to places I could never otherwise see, but deaely wish I could. Loved you mentioning Bill & Ted upon seeing the word "Esquire", I'm a big Bill & Ted fan, so can definitely relate. lol ☺
As always Paul another great episode I think the children with the skulls are representing the family and they died prior their parents at a young age ….. Thank you again
Poor George Lewis... what a way to go! Lovely church and such lush greenery, absolutely gorgeous... This clip was so well done - thank you for all that you do!💕
Hi Paul as u were walking to the church I heard a growl, I love ur rings , I collect skulls the headstone is stunning Wat a stunning stunning final resting home to be ,great video thank u
I believe believe figures at 15:41 represent the children of the people buried in the tomb - those carrying a skull indicate that they died when they were young.
I was thinking the same thing about the children but the skulls were maybe stillbirths or pregnancies that didn't come to full term. Beautiful place and a wonderful time capsule. Very lovingly maintained. 😊

That's a great gravestone, someone put some work into designing it. Also, the church tower has a shocked face with those windows. If you want to see another graveyard with a ruin in it, check out the Holy Ghost cemetery next time you're in Basingstoke.
Such a very beautiful gorgeous place fascinating church , truly picturesque countryside of England 🙏🏻🏴🏴🏴❤Thank you Paul for this ya friend Rodders 🤘😎👑🥁🎸🇬🇧
i always find incredible that you can walk into an old church almost anywhere in the UK and see artwork and incredible carvings just laying there for nobody to look at. The hours that went into all those masonry pieces and nobody goes there . Its like walking the streets of London and looking up at the incredible stone work which is just ignored by people with their heads down heading for an appointment . it always make me think of the words of Eleanor Rigby
Hi Paul. Another great and professionally put together video. I just love the way your channel has evolved. It is always an interesting watch. Well done. Always with the deepest respect. Please take care.
What a great church and a very interesting grave. As a teenager, I was visiting Canewdon Church in Essex, known for witches and other strange things. I was having a look around the grounds when I found in front of the side door of the church a giant white egg. I would say half the size of an ostrich egg. It gave me a very strange feeling at the time and still does today 30 years later.
That is the river Meon. A very interesting Saxon settlement in the Meon Valley. Beautiful Park and part of the South Downs National Park I believe The church was very well mainlined. Great video and great drone or UAV as they were called..
Paul this video is one of your best. Great walk to the church. That is a beautiful church and the headstone is brilliant, i wish i knew about that place, we wee in Hampshire a couple of years ago for the super car weekend at Beaulieu, i would have gone. Thanks Paul for a fantastic video.
