Finally working on a N62 I’m proud of u for this video Keep them coming
Looking forward to your upcoming videos on the N62. There are only a few videos on the stem seal repair, additional ones are welcome. While I don’t wish for you to have problems with the N62, your other videos on bmw engine diagnostics and repair have been very helpful, and there’s not a lot of stuff on UA-cam for N62 repairs.
the n62 is a totally different animal. it operates in a whole special way. it would take way to long to explain here. do a google search for valveatronic and variable intake by BMW. The n62 is a awesome running engine once you fix everything. i got mine all lined out and have had no problems for 2 years now.
robert knight so true I took mines out this year
Very interesting content. When you will get the engine out, you shoud replace the coolant transfer pipe, it has seal at the end witch is common problem.
Thanks for such a informative video. I was sure mine needed valve stem seals but I will check this first, thanks!!!
Seals I bet quarter till engines notoriously smoke with age, power was great and almost brought one in 04 settled for 530i manual
Last ;) nice weather there Nathan :)
I've never seen oil on top of the diaphragm like that. It might have a pinhole in it. I'd replace it to see if the smoke goes away. I was convinced my X5 needed stem seals. I replaced the diaphragms anyway and the smoke cleared up after a few days. There's always a lot of residual oil in the intake.
How to extra clean this?
hi brother, I'm interested in the connection point of the hose for the pcv cover; There is a hose on both sides of each cover, is it connected to the pressure converter and then to the air ramp? the fact is that they sell several pcv valve covers; So I think that the breather should be present, at this moment it is supplied with pressure from the ramp to the pressure converter and then to the pcv. right?!
What can keep the timing chain from from reaching the exhaust cam sprocket on a m54?
the rocker cover gasket is a common cause of smoke (valve cover for USA, I think) so I would check that before trying to pull a a job that is many hours of labour. BMW N62 owners and youtubers favourite words is "stem seals"
I have smoke on N . In drive mode not can smoke . What you mean?
Hey Nate. Before anything l want to thank you for all your videos and advice.
Ok so l have a 2006 x5 with the 4.8is engine. Sometimes smoke white kind bluish smoke from one of the exhaust (looking at the car from behind, thr right side). I was looking at a video from the BMW doctor guy in the UK and he mentions you a lot.
He was showing this valve seal. Conditioner that could possibly aliviate that smoke. He mentioned he send you some of that stuff so l wanted to see if l could purchase some from you. Buying from Amazon UK is almost 60 bucks.
Do you still have a tube a can purchase from you?
If you do, Please let me know how to pay you for it.
Best regards and again, thank you.
Alex.
E53, in Oregon.
You can rent the AGA Valve Seal Tool Kit from Ebay...About $200 for 3 weeks. Great tool. Keep the engine in the car. I completed a 2006 N62 valve seal job in about 25 hours. Very labor intense. Not for beginners. Car runs great...NO SMOKE!
How much would you charge to do my 750
Are you a mechanic or you just a mechanically inclined person? I do some basic maintenance in my vehicles like brakes, spark plugs and wires, I even replace the transmission on my 2006 GMC Sierra. Do you think I can do the valve stem replacement job by myself?
My car pumps out alot blue/white smoke after driving for about 5-10 minutes when the engine warmed up. Happend after i had my cars dpf deleted at a tunershop. Ive ordered a new crankcase breather valve (ccv) but i dont know if that will fix it.. Any suggestions?
We got rain Friday and a ton Saturday evening throughout the night here in the western Missouri side.
Its so dry here the grass is turning brown
@@NathansMRE when you flood, we drought. When you drought, we flood.
Where those seals sit inside if there’s a little oil there is it bad. On my 2007 Bmw 550i
What about oil separator those go bad and sucks oil into cylinders
I have an X5 n62, I checked the same part and found it not torn, but I have some blue smoke when I run the car for some time and it is parked, it appears when or moves the car and disappears Can the defect be the same piece even if it is not torn?
Heeeeelppppp @
Nathan's BMW Workshop!!!!! how can i start bmw e36 (318) without key???!!!! and yes steer is locked too!!! its will be build for drift project---- but first i need to hear a sound of workin engine!! so help please!!
How much is a valve stem seal job?? I’m sure it’s pricey for this BMW
What year is that and is it 45 or 50i
Hi I have a 2000 BMW 528i and when I starts it there be smoke
I just rented the tools from " TONYS TOOL RENTAL SERVICES " should be here by monday getting ready to do the valve stems seals on my 2006 750li .
I rented the tool from Tony also, it was definitely worth it. He also takes the time to help you if you have question like I did which was very helpful. Good dude
How can I contact TONYS TOOL RENTAL SERVICES? Thanks in advance
Why is it so much of a problem on the N62 and not the M62 ? Is the type of seal / design that different betwwen the two engines🤔
@@NilsJakobson so you're saying the valve guides wear out? I've never heard that before
It would have been useful if you started the car and showed us
Hey so I have a 2007 550i, do I need those vacuum lines that go to the crankcase vent valves? When i got the car it didnt have those on there.
Mine does either I was just wondering the same thing
Yeah do we need them my 4.4 dont got em
Whats up bro I have a 545i n it smokes sometimes after being at a light or stopped for couple of minutes only when I accelerate I see some smoke come out is that the valve seals?
yes
@@krzysm5 mine does this too and only 95,000 kilometres (60,000 miles) is that expected???
PCV or Valve seals.... answer is: yes
I changed both on my 07 750Li and still had black smoke only when standing in line in the drive-through. dont know what to do next. The oil level is not dropping at least from what I can see. Any advice?
It's your vanos.... ask me how I know @115000 miles blue smoke out exhaust on long idles. No blue smoke on cold start . So my experience with cars lead me to timing and what control timing on n62 ? Engines wear over time.vanos oil pressure and viscosity. 5w40 out liqui moly 10w60 in.
At 180000 miles counting no valve stem seals no blue smoke
@@MrsJc48 Jay are you saying changing oil to 10w 60 grade got rid of blue oil puffing after being at idle??? Does it need to be Liquid Molly or could Penrite be ok... ?
I use liqui moly
What year is that vehicle? How many of those PVC valves does a bmw750li 2007 I believe it's a e66 have so far I only see one on the driver side is there a second one and another place because there's not one on the other side up under the cover? If anybody know please respond
Follow the line coming out of the one you have found already, the second night be an "inline" type up near the intake
@@christiankirkenes5922 okay I will have somebody check that out tomorrow thank you from what it sound like you're saying that the other one would be made different?
@mauriceabdul8384 they are joined together and connect to the intake and oil separation venturi so you should be able to follow the lines and find the other one.
i'm trying to order 3 tubes of the forte seal conditioner
can you help me
any luck? some people here say that its a marketing push by that bmw brittish dude, that liqui moly smoke stopper works better
What about seal conditioner?
Pretty sure you can’t buy it in the states
Hiya's
N62 Sweet
My N62 is in my 2004 x5 e53 4.8is i got august this year (uk here so rhd)
I think the first items i replaced were the pcv's
Sorted my blue smoke for now
I have a question for Nathan or anyone else with knowledge on the N62, my pcv's have no pipe/tube coming off, so i have no idea where they should be sent/vented/joined/merged to, can't seem to find pics or even vids to give me any definitive information
Anyone have any ideas ?
Cheers
And keep up the great work
Deffy Hunter sams problem here, no hose coming off the pcv
Not true you have to go thur the hole ccv system can’t tell buy just that your getting blow bye did you look inside the throttle body
I would pay a guy to put it in a smoke machine or at least use some ether to see if it sucking.
@@jimijamesjowitt yep, that's the best way. My money is on this thing having a leak that's introducing oil into the intake, not the valve stem seals
@@MrTruthAddict Yeah dude that's what he just checked. Where else is oil going to leak into the intake? It literally can only go through the PCV diaphragm.
Is this the same for 2010 650i
ua-cam.com/video/Yy_Vzir5xco/v-deo.html
Does a 2007 530i have a lot of problems?
Yes
TY
Like all Bimmers
I had the first model 2004 BMW 525i E60, Other than the normal oil leaks I never had any problems, People I know haven’t had to many problems with there 530i, I would do some research before buying a newer model E60.
Not worth it to spend the mony on old car that allows going to have problems
Better than paying $500+ a months payments on a new car, car payments suck I’d rather own out right
My car just has 1 pcv valve is that normal?
U have a I6 engine? V8 have 2
@@dflex4180 my V8 only has one
