Your package of the Banjo minnow was version 2, and NOT the original Banjo minnow, which the original was far better than version 2 because the original banjo minnow was a flat tail, flat fluke design. I think when they went to version 2, (which you have) it almost killed the Banjo minnow sales. I hated it! l always loved the original 3" and 4" Pearl White colors for bass. Simple! Glad to see they re-introduced version 3 which is going back to the original design plus some nice changes. I hope they offer "pearl white" as a color choice soon! Now, with a Owner TwistLock Centering-Pin Spring, Kahle hook, rubber bait peg, and your favorite FLAT plastic fluke, with FLAT tail, you have a "banjo minnow" rig! I use a tiny swivel attached to braid and about 3 feet of 8-12 lbs flouro-carbon to the rig. It sure helps line twists because this rig is darting and twisting all over the place! Which is great because it replicates a distressed dying fish which triggers bass for an "easy meal". Best part of this rig is that bass "head shot" bait fish (so they can easily swallow them) and your hook ups with this set up are 10 times better than Texas rigging a regular fluke with an EWG 4 to 5/0 hook. Try it and hold on!

Is there a longer version of your intro song??
Yes there is. Carefu. Will get stuck in your head
You've got the full thing! But there is a link for a FREE download in the video description.
In Louisiana that bowfin is called a choupique. Shoopick
Johnson silver minnow thank you for the smile
Have caught some great fish in one. Throw in a pork trailer and let her rip tater chip
An oldie but a goodie, Carl!
i like to nose rig a 5 inch senko with a screw lock and one of those small crappie spinners
I bet that works great!
I still have a couple original banjos left, somewhere lol.
"Somewhere" You must have seen my tackle collection!
the new ones dont have as soft of a plastic as the originals did. i picked some big ones up on ebay 4.5-6.5 inches got 20 of them for pretty cheap so gunna try them this summer
Let that line go slack in between jerks to let that puppy do its thing...but watch that lien like a hawk for the slightest tick!
Try the new 2020 BM...Plastic is legit and you will see and tell the difference
Just lucked up on 6 25 plus year old bottles of bait mate scent attractant in 3 popular flavours.
How’d it taste? Haha
You really enjoy fishing with gimmick lures.
That’s all this guy thinks about
Hey Teiji! Yes I do!
Your almost as Retro as me! I graduated in 94
Yeah buddy! Those were my prime tressbassing days!
The banjo seems pretty solid set up to use. Its too bad the kit is so pricey 😢
I LOVE BANGOW MINNOW IT REALY WORKS
PREACH Marcus! They worked then and they work now!
Banjos are so effective! I honestly don't know why no pros ever use or talk about em. If KVD threw the Banjo he would top Butch Brown in the record books
What is going on Small Water Charters John and Lyndia R U Kidding me you guys are everywhere subbed right away to Retro Bassin Andrew from Butler Outdoors sent me so wonderful you guys are having so much fun I watched Bill Dance when I couldn't dance Rolland Martin Babe Winkleman old Farts like me I have never seen these channels on suggestions so glad I found you all. Glad you enjoyed the show! We always have a hoot when the three of us get together!
Hello
Hey Sewer! Thanks for tuning in!
When you 3 get together it seems really fun.
We have a great time. Chris is a fantastic guy
Ain't that the truth, good buddy!
I am also a sucker for gimmicky stuff, I don't have the banjo minnow ,I always though it would be a winner, however I have so many wonder lures I cant justify getting some. Great video as always though.
It was so fun to fish with the banjo. And the Retro guy
Thanks for tuning in, David!
Give em a try David....you will NOT be disappointed!
The original banjo minnow slayed fish but then they changed the plastic formulation and it was never the same. I wonder if the new ones went back to the original plastic? They were fish catchers at one time!
These were fun to fish with
The OG ones I bought did not age well. Nose harness too brittle and plastic hard. New ones were better on both fronts!
@@RetroBassin , the originals I bought were soft and moved way better than the later ones put out. Moe fluid action or as the original commercial described as" spastic" action, lol. I thought about buying the new kit but I never use the smaller sizes they put in there. If they offer make your own kits I probably will.
You will be stoked on new ones!!! New day and New materials...same amazing action.
@@kenkerry3948 , when will they offer a build your own kits? I don't ever fish the smaller sizes.
I had pretty good luck with them when I was in high school. They’re just a goofy looking fluke that’s rigged weird.
I just loved the underwater footage from the infomercial!
I was waiting for you to review this bait, would you say it's trash or pass?!?
Ok, this wasn't a proper review, but I was thinking of doing a side-by-side of the OR and the new. Want to see it?
@@RetroBassin absolutely
I still catch more bass in farm ponds using the banjo minnow than any other lure.
Interesting fact did you know bill dance actually promote the banjo memo when it 1st debut
Another great video. Maybe Roland will subscribe and comment!!!!
I sent Roland a link to the video. He’s a trip. SON
Or maybe send a restraining order to keep Retro away from his truck LOL
