    This cable looks interesting. However the clips in this video are so heavily compressed they are worthless for judging the video quality. If you revisit this in the future please capture footage of games that will compress better. Also don't compare the HDMI cables against an upscaled composite signal. Only comparison with an component cable makes sense. In the Retrotink section the interlacing is really noticable. A comparison of this versus the pound cable and official component cable plus OSSC and Retrotink 2x in 480p and 720p would be great. Maybe 1080i as well although I don't this many people use this mode. Also do lag tests, video quality will be fine with many upscalers as well, but these often introduce a few frames of lag.

      Ive done numerous comparisons with component etc. Wanted to change it up just for the sake of it. The footage suffers more so from UA-cams video encoding. I recorded the best settings I can eith this. It is what it is.

      You can always include stills from the capture. That can make subtle differences easier to see.

    This OG Xbox is addicting, isn't it? I have one since day one when I was 14 or 15 and I owe much of my 'tech' and homebrew/emulator knowledge to this beast. Nice video, I'm surprised to see a licensed accessory to this 'box in 2018, thanks for the review.

    How does this compare to the pound xbox hdmi cable? Im not that into it having the Krusty Brand Seal Of Approval. Ive seen reviews of the pound cable where they dont look as good as a good component cable. Is this better? Also the pound cable is able to swap out hdmi cables.

    • @braddl9442

      The pound cable is fine. I have 2 for my 3 xboxs. It is the same as component minus the HD audio. But there is a production run of xboxs that show some minor banding when using it, I have one of these xboxs I use the component cables for that one. I have 3 xboxs cause every few months I do lan halo2 party with my buds.
      I ordered one of these hoping it fixes that issue on that third XBOX to make hooking it up easier
      This looks to be a better cable and seems to support the doubly audio.

    UA-cam video encoding doesn't do these visuals justice! After watching the video on YT I definitely can say it looked a lot better on my HDTV.

    I tried this cable and was quite disappointed with it. It produced interference, noise in the signal and wavy lines when connected to three of my XBOXes. Same as the Pound cable but worse. Hyperkins customer service was lacking and made it much more difficult than it should have been for me to return the cable. I would not recommend this.

    I bought one of these today and here's a problem, it has flickering and tv screen footage would cut off to a black screen and on again, there's no sound, and I tried uploading a video of it but it would say "video abandoned". Not sure if I got a bad cable, but can someone help me out here. I was looking forward to playing my original Xbox and recording game footage.

    Combine this device with~
    -HDMI to VGA adapter
    -Open Source Scan Converter (OSSC)
    Run the video in x2 mode (with upsamplex2) and you're going to get something that not only defeats the excessive scaling processing on most displays, but you're going to end up with a level of detail that's familiar to anyone who plays at VGA resolutions on a pc crt monitor.

    UA-cam compression does no favors for high-speed racing footage. Also, it would be interesting to see how well this device works with 720p games, or even 1080i.

    • @Madlittlepixel

    This and the DC cable are cool, I’m curious to know which brand makes the best product. I’m especially looking forward to the pound cable for PS2, because it up scales ps1 games from 240p to 720p. MJRs review didn’t tell me much.

    • @ZeniusFox
      @ZeniusFox 6 років тому +2

      The Pound cables for the PS2 aren't that great when you break down the features. According to MJR it doesn't support native 480p, and the image is stretched. If you are using it exclusively for PS1 games, you should be fine. If you want to use it for PS2/PS1 games, you are better off with another solution.

    • @radracer8889

    • @AmyGrrl78
      @AmyGrrl78 6 років тому +2

      Depends on the game and what it supports. Most will output in 480p and still play in 4:3 or 16:9 if you have it set in the system menu. I know Star War Republic Commando will only play 16:9 in 480i or 4:3 in 480i/480p. I personally prefer playing these older games in 480p 4:3 on modern hdtv screens. Stretching a low resolution game to fill the screen lowers the quality even more in my opinion. A small handful of games will run in 720p or 1080i and they look awesome.
