I've been waiting for something like this. It's much smaller than I thought one adapter would be.

I appreciate all of the time you take to explain things. I wish this particular video would have shown how the adapter could use a variety of modifiers and the ease of use on location.

Seth - I know this is late in the game but just got around to picking up this adapter. Many thanks for your usual in depth vid. Profoto offered next to nothing on usage so this was a big help. Never thought about bouncing off the floor. You rule man!

Thanks Seth for this product introduction but also for the more detailed look in how you to set up your lighting with flashlights. I am also pleased for you, that you are not any longer or at least much less hampered in experimenting and/or exteriorisation your artistically ideas. See you or hear you on one of your channels.

I thought I had watched this earlier. I only got a few minutes into it before. I'm glad I made the return trip. I always learn something new in your videos. The upside down mount, for instance, and the possibility of side mounting the adapter if you don't have a magic finger. Great tips!

great video, thanks for showing us how you assemble it, use it, etc. great for beginners, esp. as a transition tech, from speed-lights to studio lights, like the B 2, allows a "small" light set up, esp. if you are getting into something like a Phase One xf system, allows a smaller cost, but retain the functionality of a full professional rig.

thank for putting this out seth
I started out a few years ago with the 600 EX's when they first came out. I do a lot of high school sports and high school seniors. Two years ago I was doing a graduation and my flash slowed down so much the principal asked me if I was ok.
I have had your Orlit RT system in studio and every three images come out blue.
I love this echo system and I think this is where I am headed
    Thanks sir.

I am a huge PF fan. Have been for years. My chin hit the floor when I saw this price. I immediately emailed the guys at PF expressing my absolute disgust at this price. They are taking us for complete fools. I urge everyone to email them and also refuse to buy it at this price. Enough is enough Profoto

Great video Seth-thank you so much. I’m sure you’ve heard this before, but you are really good at explaining & demonstrating lighting setups, equipment etc!
Finally, $159 for this OCF adapter is fine w/me!

Finally a softbox adaptor for the A1, thanks for sharing Seth. I noticed that the bottom part of the adaptor is built just like the bottom of the B10, if so can you get that knurled knob as a replacement for the smooth nob on the B10 and B10 plus (tightening that smooth knob can be a pain). I'll definitely be adding two of these OCF adapters to my kit for my A1s in the future since I have several OCF modifiers.

I too am sticking with Godox and Bowens mounts for all of my lights. It's just a more versatile system in every way, as well as a much lower overall cost. I have not seen a benefit of round speedlites, except for the magnetic attachment of round filters and gels.

Great video Seth. This is way too expensive for what it is. I went with the godox system and it’s fantastic. It’s crazy that you had to make your own adapter for the a10 before this was released.

You dems of Profoto products is significantly more detailed than those from the Profoto demos. That said, $300 is deep pocket land. Keep up the great tutorials.

This would be a nice accessory to have in studio or on a set if you needed some extra lights or just wanted a rim or hair light. Also useful for food or product photography but having the B10 series of lights not sure the benefit of this product. Next time i need to toss a beauty dish into my backpack for on location shoot will ... well will be the first time i ever do that.

Thank you for the wonderful review... I was thinking of shifting to Profoto A1s... In your experience do you get battery drain if the flash is on but you are not shooting... If yes... Then how do you combat this...

I'm not a profoto shooter but I really found this video informative and creatively useful. @16:56 just curious, being that the a1( bounce ) has a dome diffuser does that mean that the light will be hitting her indirectly from the spread and not just from bounce as intended? Thanks

in this bright studio, 2X Profoto Speedlight was enough to cover shooting! so for on-location shooting will be sufficient do you think to use 3-4X speedlights? when B10 and B10 plus will be necessary for a shooting session though?

Great video! What would you say is the largest modifier you could use based on weight and strength of the A1 or a1X before the light fall off would not be beneficial! It looks to be made of plastic or is it metal? If you try to put a larger soft box on it would it work or would it break the plastic?

This spiel (sjpeel) shows in the first place that a 50~75 Watt.seconds speedlight can do an awful lot in a studio, even with modifiers. I use the big Profoto RFi adapters with one or two Nikon SB-910, radios and the optional battery packs and this is very fast, reliable and even a single SB-910 can "fill" a Profoto RFi 4' x 6' with two diffusers in place. The hassle is in the charging of 120 AA batteries [put some urbandictionary here].
From 50 W.s (the cheap Chinese speedlites) there are only 4.5 f-stops to the 1,200 W.s of a big fat studio strobe, or from 75W.s it's only 4 f-stops to that 1,200J.
"We" needed those humongous strobes in the days of large format when f/90 or f/128 was no exception and we used a 100 ASA film. And that f/90 is 5 f-stops "darker" than f/16 in a modern full frame lens. Now add, that 800 ISO gives generally perfect results from your digital camera and you have another 3 stops working for you - when necessary. So, if we add the 5 and 3 f-stops up, we get 8 stops advantage over that 100 ASA large format and 8 f-stops down from 1,200 Watt.seconds is about 5 W.s, which is 1/16th the power of a 75J speedlight.
Having said all this, we need to keep in mind what is needed to black out available light in the studio, too.

that A1 on the camera, is it just triggering the other background and "beauty dish" lights, or is it part of the exposure too?, and if so, does this trigger as the Nikon can't communicate directly with Profoto gear?- could you do another video, showing how the trigger is set up, for the two lights.

Yes once again Profoto have out priced themselves out of the market just like they did with the light for mobile phones which I belive was £449 when it first came out!
It's now literally half the price and still way too expensive for what it is?
And now they have done it again with a bracket which costs a ridiculous amount of money?
I will give it say 6 months and I think it will come down in price and still be way toooo expensive!
    It's a bracket ????????
