As our 32 year old son's hearse left his funeral, a guard of honour was formed, this song rang out loud and clear, he was our Hero, a 7 year battle with Brain Cancer, fought with dignity and grace.
This song used to make me think it was about Dave thinking about Kurt and now I think it’s about Dave thinking about Taylor and I’m thinking too much about thinking and I hate that there’s no T. One of the GOATs. RIP.
To my adored son; Losing you took the roar out of my lion heart, the sun out of my sky...I am not capable of understanding why you were taken away so young, I cannot express to the universe enough how meaningful, amazing and good you were, now everyday is cruel...it’s brutal, your absence is like an elephant on my chest...I miss you, Oh god, I miss you so much! I have accepted life gets no better than the 20 amazing years, I was blessed with you. I promise to honor your life and one day sweet boy, I will hold you again...I know you are with me because I wouldn’t still be here if you weren’t. To my three brothers and sister of the Houston Fire Department who gave the ultimate sacrifice. God bless and rest easy.. We got this!! 05/31/2013 last call
lost my son, Ryan, 35 , a month ago. I had a fairly calm day today. I had a few wines tonight and listened to this… and it was all over but for the tears…love this song.
Yung Nic he did not, he wrote it about ordinary people like you and me, people out there who put their life on the line to save others. Paramedics... teachers... construction workers... rescue divers... etc.
@@BoxOfCurryos I believe it's about what you're saying. However, he did this scream live at Wembley, straight sounded like something Kurt would do. I think he wrote it with those intentions, but it kind of turned into a reminder of multiple different people in his life, such as Kurt.
"There goes my hero, he's ordinary." Simple.. yet so powerful and profound. We all have heroes that are ordinary. This song will always mean so much to me. More than words could explain.
Heard this song for the first time right after my dad passed away. I was on my way home from the hospice house where his body gave in to cancer. I lost him at a young age and he truly was my hero. I wouldn't be who I am today if not for him.

+Paul Jamilkowski Man that hurt in the feelings! So sorry for your loss. Your comment felt like a knife stab through the fabric of my emotions. Hope you heal well.

This song makes me think of all the truckers, nurses, retail workers, and others during these times working with low pay providing us the services and goods that are vital Im proud of all of them!
This song always makes me think of healthcare workers. The ones that saved my husbands life, changed my life that day. I don’t know their names, or all the faces involved, they were just doing their job that day. Ordinary people. This song makes me feel very emotional.
I come here when I need to cry. There's nothing that can consistently make me shed big manly tears quite like this version of this song. Everybody be sure to appreciate your heroes while they are still here.
HAWAIIRAMSFAN7 my sons name is chandler, he is 5 months old and will sometimes only fall asleep while listening to this song. So sorry for your loss ❤️
This was the song playing in the room when my son was born. I tear up every time I hear it. When I saw them perform it live I totally lost it. Beautiful.
I played this song on my sisters funeral. She died alone, and I found her, in her bed. I’ve been through hell in life but nothing was as hard as losing my sister. She was my big sister, my best friend, my rock, my hero. I miss her more than words can comprehend. She didn’t get to meet the love of my life, she won’t get to be there on my wedding day, she won’t get to be there for other milestones. It was a Muslim funeral so no songs or TV is allowed for 40 days during the period of mourning. But I kept listening to this song on my earphones when she died, it helped me get through the hardest and saddest days of my life. She will always be my hero. I love you Tan. Always do and always will❤️
My son's are my hero's. Going through a separation with my wife after almost 20 years, which has been the hardest situation I've had to deal with and if it wasn't for my son, I wouldn't be here today enjoying all of my children if it wasn't for my son's. When I as down, my middle son, he'd come over and hold on to me, telling me that he loves me and that I'll be ok, while trying to whole his tears because he knows how bad I've been hurting. What an amazing boy he is. All of them are. I'm not one who cries and I especially don't care for my son's to see there Dad cry but, I'd breakdown in front of them at times but I try to keep it together so they won't cry. Then my youngest son, he would do the same but, at night time, my 5 year old would ask me if i can have Mommy move back home so we can be a family again and it breaks my heart to see my son's hurting so much at there respective ages, let alone having them see there father hurting. My oldest son, he's my helper. He's about to start driving, soon, so we know what he'll be doing. Grocery shopping. He's been my buddy for almost 16 years now. He's growing up way too fast for my liking. He's the one who helps me deal with his younger brothers, by keeping them all together, while I'm not there because he knows how it's affected them and he knows what it means to me. I don't have to say anything to him, he just knows what to do He's amazing. He's one of those kids who people say, I wish my son would act like that. I'm so proud of him and all he's accomplished so far I'm life, with the difficulties he's endured. I couldn't ask for better son's, I already have them. They're my rocks to lean on. Again, my son's are my hero's. God knew what I needed in life and He blessed me with these amazing son's, just so I wouldn't do something stupid. What a song to recognize a hero and what a band to express the lyrics the way they do and how awesome are my son's God bless
Incredible story my man...truly comes from the heart,no doubt, reading those lines....Be proud of who you are,be proud of who they become - with you being the one who made them what they are! You can truly be proud of your boys - AND mostly of yourself! Hang in there man,I know this stuff all too well....
Such a positive take on a bad situation. I admire you and your sons. I am going through the same. My son is 5, and i was with my wife for 17 years. Watching him figuring it out is so difficult for me. But sometimes I think he is stronger than I am.
Just saw a Kobe Bryant Tribute video with the song playing... now I’m going to think of him every time this plays. Thank you Foo Fighters for making heart touching memories like this. R.I.P. Kobe & Gianna Bryant.

There is no more pain man, rest now, see you down the road, i love you forever.

Dave can mix with politicians, brainiacs or dregs of the night. He is truely my hero. He also has his roots planted firmly on the ground. Not many musicians have his vision, humor and candor to let you into his personal space. Keep making music, Dave! Love and support from NJ!
this I think could possibly be the best version of this beautiful piece of poetry. emotionally powerful with every word spoken every note played. if this was the last thing I hear before I died I'd go with a smile on my face and a tear in my eye. God bless you dave grohl for this absolute masterpiece...
Kurt and Dave are my heroes. They’re the ones who encouraged me to get into music. No music is so hugely important in my life. They have changed me and I just wanted to say thank you.
I was just messing around with UA-cam, never really heard this song acoustic like this.. made me think of my dad... He's still living, 74 and living with me... And, I'm gonna give him the biggest hug in the morning..... He is my hero....
something about daves passion and this bands music that works so perfectly with an acoustic guitar... can not get enough. don't stop guys, don't ever stop. this song especially pulled me thru a lot of really rough years.
im doing this song in music with my band and reading the comment section nearly got me in tears as my grandma died before easter i wish i could still hug her she will always will be with me

And this acoustic version of My Hero, is my "life-song". So now I play it by myself every time I feel weak....every time I feel good and want to give someone else some power. This is a song that is played by heart and gives strength. I love it

Kris Marsel My thoughts are running around again and again.
ARNUGRAHA just beautiful.

If my heart bleeds so heavy as just a massive fan boy cannot even begin to imagine how much his immediate family and band mates feel right now... 💕 💔
This song holds a place in my heart for my first dog that passed away. It was the first time I lost anything close to me and she's my hero, for teaching me that harsh reality of life! RIP Bocephus!!

Rest in Paradise Taylor Hawkins thanks for your great work
Discovered this in my late teens. Sent shivers down my spine... I still think its one of the greatest pieces of music that I have ever heard.
same thing is currently happening to me
Vicer Gaming one of the first songs I've ever heard my dad played it for me when I was young just thinking of it brings tears to my eyes
Dave can mix with politicians, brainiacs or dregs of the night. He is truely my hero. He also has his roots planted firmly on the ground. Not many musicians have his vision, humor and candor to let you into his personal space. Keep making music, Dave! Love and support from NJ!
Descansa en paz Taylor querido ya eres una leyenda 💔
Love how Taylor plays the drums in this concert, and the way Dave sings...both are so so intense!
I lost my brother last night, he loved dave grohl. Rest In peace curtis. I'm going to miss you brother.

Wow. Just saw this live version. Taylor in my mind. Rest in Peace, you fucking rocked while you lived.
this I think could possibly be the best version of this beautiful piece of poetry. emotionally powerful with every word spoken every note played. if this was the last thing I hear before I died I'd go with a smile on my face and a tear in my eye. God bless you dave grohl for this absolute masterpiece...
I can't believe he's actually gone
Taylor Hawkins must have attended the Dave Grohl School of Crazy Ass Energetic Amazing drumming

Liam Faulkner 💔I’m incredibly sorry for your life changing loss. I lost my 20 year old son, Kyle tragically by accidental overdose, his baby brother, now 18...my heart is so broken but when I think of Gavin’s heart it takes me to my knees, bless Gavin and bless you Liam. If us as Mom’s could change it all, we absolutely would⭐️ I’ll be praying for you♥️ love you!!!
I believe that this performance is my favorite version of this song
Too alarmin' now to talk about
Take your pictures down and shake it out
Truth or consequence, say it aloud
Use that evidence, race it around
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary
Don't the best of them bleed it out
While the rest of them peter out?
Truth or consequence, say it aloud
Use that evidence, race it around
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary
Kudos, my hero
Leavin' all the mess
You know my hero
The one that's on
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary
Watching Dave Grohl perform never fails to send chills down my spine, leave a smile on my face, and nod my head in approval.
I love you Dad, my hero.
Often in my life I have seen troubles; I had turbulences and I thought I wouldn't find a way out of situation. But I listen to Foo Fighters Music especially more in those situations. And this acoustic version of My Hero, is my "life-song". So now I play it by myself every time I feel weak....every time I feel good and want to give someone else some power.
This is a song that is played by heart and gives strength. I love it
Mel Caramba Amazing 🍀
This performance is what music and the love for it is all about . Thank you ❤
My heroes are protected. I ask for protection to spread my wings & turn over new 🍂... Filled with love, kindness & happiness. I ask safe travels to my new home where this Proud momma can wake up next to her 🐾🐾🐾. 💍

Grohl is a modern day musical genius!
Cobain would be proud of him
100% agreed
He's following the aerosmith school of song writing. "Don't bore us, get to the chorus" :D
(his words in an interview some time :p )
Played this video at the end of my husband's memorial. He was "My Hero". Thank you, Foo Fighters!
This live version of Hero by Foo Fighters is musically soothing and valiant.
