    I like your style dude. A few years ago I stripped a vintage BMW naked similarly to how you did this project and made a sort of street scrambler out of it. I made more money selling the parts I stripped from it than I paid for the bike. It's so much more satisfying spending time doing the work than to just pay for bolt on stuff. What you have done here exemplifies the beauty of the relationship between man and machine.

    1983, did the same thing to my 1979 Goldwing. After stripping, & modifying the exhaust, made it a Hard Tail. Square Bar Steel, heated, twisted, then upper / lower tabs welded, then chromed. I really miss that bike...

    I love how you dive right into it and just go for it. I always liked the original naked Goldwings from the mid to late 1970s. One thing from a personal protection angle, whenever you're sanding or cutting anything that makes fine particles, especially fiberglass, please wear a breathing mask of some kind. It'll save you a lot of grief later on in life with your lungs.

    Good job on the cheap, Brutha! I did something like that with a GL1100, though I went further and chopped the tail end to drop the seat height down. Of course, I had to move the fuel tank above the motor. Mine looked like a bulldog. I never had a workshop or tools like you do, though. I'm kinda jealous about that. I used up a lot of elbow grease along the way and then became disabled before it was done. I had to sell it. Now it's hangin' on the new owner's shop wall as a conversation piece. Not all was lost, I guess. I gained a lot of experience. Enjoy yer ride, Bro! The Gold Wings are an awesome machine.

    Slick build -- seems like a spiritual successor to the old 79 Wings before they added all the fairings.
    Was scrubbing the video after my first watch, not sure if you ever resolved the hyperflashing but in my experience with LED converting old metric bikes, tossing in an LED rated flasher relay vs wiring up resistors usually solves the problem. I know some bikes use 2 relays, my 80 KZ750 had one for the signals and a separate one for the 4 way hazard

    • @SmokeyFromThe715
      @SmokeyFromThe715  2 місяці тому +3

      Thanks for watching boss! Appreciate the compliment and the advice. In the vid I did end up fixing the fast blinker. 4 years of engineering school finally came in handy and I was able to calculate and order the right resistors to get a better flash rate with the LEDs.😂 appreciate having guys like you always willing to help. That’s part of what makes the bike community so great

    I ride an '87 and have thought about stripping it down. Problem is I ride long distances and the luggage and weather protection helps. Last year I rode through snow in early April. Hot summer days I wish the fairing was gone. I have a small aftermarket speedometer. Idiot lights (neutral, oil, high gear and low fuel) can go in the little panel over the handlebar clamp. I have had a tractor seat on it for a few years. Hard to put my feet down but I can ride all day. I have a hard time getting much done because when I get back to the US I want to ride every day and the Wing is my only bike. I like what you did with the instrument cluster. Cut down to a reasonable size.

    Excellent job bro!! Pro-Tip, don't drag your feet when stopping on a motorcycle, ESPECIALLY on the side where the pavement can deviate, you'll snap your ankle off in your boot. I have a 9" titanium plate, 4 screws and a bungee holding my ankle in place after dragging my feet Just like you did at 41:49. All the best. I'm a Harley guy, I have some pics on my community tab, other than that, well done bro. Keep the rubber down

      From 1980-2010 they were built in Marysville Ohio, and something like 80 percent of the Goldwings sold go to the North American market. So even though it was probably a joke, it’s fairly accurate. Nice build.

    I have an 83 Goldwing 1100 I am kinda doing the same thing to. Funny thing is the exhaust broke in the exact same spot when I took it off. So far I just ground it smooth but I plan to weld on a piece of fresh pipe so I can connect smaller mufflers.
