Good video. I enjoyed Estadio Centenario as well. I had a different experience with food. It’s not as cheap as the rest of South America, but I did not have a bad meal. The spots in the old town are overpriced and touristy.
uruguay has historically been more expensive than argentina and brasil..... but its worst in tourist places....that happens around the worl.....previous to visit look for restaurants and places recomended an used by local people..... its going to be cheaper..... not like argentina ....but you know one dolar is almost 400 argentinian pesos an its 38 uruguayan pesos.... a big differnce
Well good food was not a priority in your trip, I respect that but in my opinion it is the best way to meet a country, with the food you could learn a lot about the life of the country, some history, and even understand many things from thw society, even if it is expensive, how often will you visit that country? .😉👍🏻
Yeah you’re right. We were in the middle of a big trip on a budget so we were probably unfair on Uruguay. In hindsight, we should have explored more and tried more food. Thanks for commenting 😊
You didn't want 15 euros for chips and chicken and ended up eating Mc donalds and fried empanadas ... You didn't try Asado bro and I tell u why... u complain about the 15 eur for chicken and chips as the cheapest things in the Menu...
Watch the video again, we did try 😊 not the first evening because we were hungry and there were only shabby restaurants around so we opted for Macdonald’s, but we did try it.
Fried empanadas are not normal there either. You should have tried in a Empanadas restaurant. Same with steak or Asado you need to know where to go. Anyway brother sorry to give u hard time here. I just went nuts with your video cos I saw u were disappointed just the way u commented on the video. I'm going home (montevideo) in 3 months... I'm currently in Melbourne since 2016 and I can't wait to go there and feed myself with good food and family time.
Thanks, I had some pretty inaccurate misconceptions about Uruguay. Sad thing about all the graffiti although it seems to be very common in South American capitals. Even worse is the drug culture.
I live here. What a shame you didn't experience the unique food culture of Uruguay. You have to get out of Ciudad Vieja...only tourists eat there. There's so much great food here...chivito, asado, milanesa, pescado, guisos, and tons of handmade pasta. It's Italian and Spanish heritage, with the Uruguayan twist, what a shame you passed it up because the exchange rate was unfavorable for you. Obviously Argentina will be cheaper - they were going through a currency crisis of hyperinflation that has been terrible for the population. Is it expensive here? Yes. But also stable. Get out of the tourist zone, follow the locals, and find amazing food for same price, but better value.
incluso en la Ciudad Vieja hay buenos restaurantes, solo que no se preocuparon en buscar mucho... cayó a los dos o tres primeros que vieron, por ahi, en una zona re turistica y obvio, los fajaron...🤦♂
Definitely we are not cheap, my friend. But, if you get Mc donalds in a country who is well known for the high-quality of carne de vaca... it's just like going to Ireland and not having a pint of Guinness.. Uruguay is always being the most expensive country in south and Central America and that's clearly why you should inform yourself guys before going there. We have european prices in Uruguay but that's for a reason yeah? Being cheap is not the greatest thing to be. Standards go first. Now you talk about food being expensive and bad or average service but you ended up getting Mc donalds and fried empanadas from cheap random places. What kind of trip and experience were u expecting to get? Seriously, guys. Love Irish people, and i have many friends nothing to say. But it's just as easy as checking on your phone the prices in Uruguay to know what to expect right? Imagine if I make a video being upset because I arrive to Ireland and the weather is cold. ... Hahaha well.. yes
@SomethingToRemember how do you know it was not good quality if you haven't even eat it man? Honestly with respect you can't say that because literally in the video u look all upset saying u looked up the menu and the cheapest thing was chicken and chips for 15 euros and u walked away and got maccas instead...
you were to the most expensive and not impressive restaurants, you have to go to a "parrillada" wich are the steak restaurants, the best meat in the world!! nothing you could find in ireland, for sure... you guys just did it wrong the homework on food
I’ve been to Montevideo after visiting Santiago and Buenos Aires and I was quite disappointed. In fairness not much to see. Many run down buildings with graffiti everywhere. I’ve heard the rest of the country is much better but unfortunately I did not have more time to see it.
you´ve been at the wrong places i think... didn´t go to the "rambla"?? you don´t have anything like that in Santiago or BS AS... you really didn´t come to Montevideo
What is “that true Latin American feel”? Uruguayan food is delicious and their beef is one of the best in the world. If you can’t afford the trip, which is expensive, do not go to Uruguay. It is an expensive country but extremely rich with its people, food, beaches and history.
The beauty of Latin America is that there is so much variety due to its history. Your point about “true latin american feel” isnt really accurate considering that you probably mean that you want something resembling Mexico or northern south american food. Which is the stereotype of what people think Latin America is. Isnt the beauty of travel discovering how things actually are? And not just reinforcing stereotypes? If you want tacos go to Mexico….
Uruguay is a fantastic country and glad people

ASADO, ASADO and once more Asado is what you have to try while u are in Montevideo. The meat is the best ever.
