  • Kyle discusses the differences between the 2019 and the 2020 Klim Traverse Jackers as well as how they differ from the 2020 Carlsbad jacket. Basically the Traverse is a very lightweight shell with level 1 D3O armor and the Carlsbad is a more robust ADV touring jacket with significant abrasion resistant panels, tons of cargo pockets and level 2 D3O armor.

    Awesome video. Would like to see it out on the road. After hours of searching for a motorcycle jacket I have decided to go for the Carlsbad jacket and pants. Thank you for helping me make my decision. Ride safe

    I sure appreciate this video, Kyle!
    Can you comment on the previous version of the Carlsbad, and how it compares to the current Carlsbad? (I have a chance to purchase my friend’s gently used Carlsbad, but it’s the non current model.)

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  Рік тому

      The "current" Carlsbad is a much more user friendly jacket. Better protection, bigger more useable vents... a good priced used jacket is GREAT but I think you will like the features of the newer jacket outweigh the difference in price. I have seen the new version for sale used for about $300. Gotta keep your eyes open. Thanks for watching!

      @@manybikes haha! Funny thing, we've done that for years and just a few days ago the neighbor knocked on the door and asked us to stop. He said his daughter is in college and can't study and he cant hear his TV. He asked if we can start in the afternoon and keep it to an hour or so.
      All because my son woke up on friday morning and got dressed, put on his gear, started the bike and started ripping. I woke up to hearing his bike outside itself. He was on his 2nd tank of gas before noon. He was riding for hours.
      I told the neighbor I'm terribly sorry and coronavirus has the kids bored out of their minds.

      WAY easier to use, that is for SURE! I actually recorded three different versions of that segment... This was the "less damaging" of the three. The fact I had a hard time operating the vents standing in the showroom... Not good! Thanks for your feedback! - Kyle

    What are your thoughts about Carlsbad vs Latitude?

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  2 роки тому

      This video breaks down all the differences but I personally prefer the Carlsbad. That is the jacket I am currently wearing. It is much more robust than the Traverse and has WAY more venting, which is KEY for me. The Carlsbad is more like a "light weight version" of the Badlands which is OVERKILL for "most people."

  • @michsky46
    @michsky46 2 роки тому +1

    I need a jacket(do it all), I need special suite as I riding between spain and central europe/netherlands(all climates)
    Must be fully WP, Windproof and well vented, as well well protected! on My list are: Touratech companero rambler, Klim badlands, Carlsbad and as well the Hardanger(not well protected). mostly I am doing roads and gravel, commuting ...all sorts!

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  2 роки тому +1

      As mentioned in your previous message, I have ridden in all of the suits you have mentioned (except the Touratech) and the best bang for the buck is the KLIM Carlsbad. It now has the same level of protection as the Badlands, but is almost 4 lbs lighter and provides 100% waterproof protection with the Performance Shell. It is very vented and works well. The lighter construction of the Carlsbad makes up for the "warmer" not PRO goretex shell. Try them on and you will see what I mean. Good luck with your choice and HAVE FUN out there!

  • @michsky46
    @michsky46 2 роки тому

    Carlsbad jacket is 3layer gore tex? thanks!

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  2 роки тому

      It’s 2 layer. I do feel it’s warmer than the 3 layer… but it’s lighter so I like it better. It’s the performance shel not the PRO shel. I prefer it over my badlands. The new Carlsbad is the way to go.

  • @UnkaJwimbee
    @UnkaJwimbee 2 роки тому

    I have both the carlsbad jacket and the pants. Jacket is awesome. Pants not so much. They have, good ventilation, solid waterproofing. Top of the line knee armor pocket is sewn in wrong; as a result the armor protects the inside of your knee. When you look at the construction of the garment it’s pretty obvious that the placement is an error. Klim support basically told me that they did this intentionally so they would not correct the issue. If you intend to use separate knee armor these pants will be fine but if you want to use the D30 that comes with the pants you should look somewhere else. The armor placement makes it useless. For a company with a reputation as good as klim's the customer service is horrible.

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  2 роки тому

      This is interesting. My Dakar pants have the armor in the correct place, that is strange. My Hardanger suit as velcro pockets that are moveable to I can put the armor anywhere I like - that is nice! It is a bummer you had a negative experience with customer service.

  • @dualsportdiary1150

    I hope chap moto gets it together. They said they are processing orders so I ordered some things last week and they are NOT processing my order at all. Now they say you can will-call your order but nobody will answer the phones (on hold 3 times for over 20 mins each call). So basically they got my money and will ship my items whenever they feel like it and there is ZERO communication.
    If you're going to close the doors WHY stop answering your phone? Chap moto needs to open MORE phone lines to get thru this fiasco. They already lost money that they had no control over and now they will loose more money that they DO have control over. I'm sure every dollar counts right now. I hope management learns some things from this outbreak.

      Great question. Similar... but the Dakar is not Waterproof and does not have as many vents. I have ridden many long rides in the Dakar and have wished for more venting when it was hot and ... have been SOAKED to the bone 2x when in the Dakar. If you will hit rain, I totally recommend an outer shell with GoreTex. That is my preference.
