Hello Folks, I recently bought a new 22 Klim Carlsbad motorcycle jacket! This was a change out of my Rev'it gear, and leaps and bounds from the factory Triumph gear I had been riding in. Most know Klim Motorcycle jackets and pants and the best, but I wasn't buying and review on just the name Klim. I wanted to know how these ACTUALLY work. I was torn between the Badlands Pro and the Carlsbad. Also torn between the Kodiak.
I share my review and test ride with you. Please let me know your thoughts below!! Is Klim the best ADV touring motorcycle jacket out there? Or, just a bunch of hype?

Helpful stuff here! Thanks for posting!
Very nice review...thank you
Just took a ride through Lebanon when it was the 50’s yesterday. Drive past the fire station. Nice ride!
Very cool!
I had a similar experience, just scaled down a bit. I am NOT a fan of inconsistent sizing but it happens to be that way in most brands. Even the 1.0 and 2.0 base layers - I fit nicely in a L 1.0, but in a 2.0 I use a M.
Klim says I should be a large...
Carlsbad in a large was really baggy in the belly and a little long on the arms. Went to a medium and it fit perfectly.
Badlands in a large was much baggier all around - I had the same issue with it bunching up to my chin when sitting, so I have to unzip from the bottom. In this case, a medium badlands wouldn't even zip up!
In the end, I ended up w/ a touring-friendly Latitude in Medium and a Badlands Large.
Happy and safe riding!
BTW, I sure hope you got a Klim VIP discount code if you are a fire fighter. Its significant!
Thumbs up dude, great video, all I wanted to know about this jacket 👍
Thanks! 👍
Just got mine today, good review. I got the 2XL, I am 61, 285, 51 chest, 38 waist. The shoulders fit perfect, arm length perfect. They fit slightly more loose than stated which is perfect. They are US true to fit. Sedicci I needed 3XL. The matching pants fit excellent with loads of roo. I think a tiger would have an issue eating me wearing this, 😀😃🙂
thank you!!
Great review! From one firefighter to another keep up the good work!!
Thank you sir!
Thanks for vid! When you say 3 season you mean spring, summer, and fall?
Yessir. Awesome user name too!
thanks for the vid, I was also looking at the Carlsbad jacket but the major downside is that there's only one waterproof pocket. No idea why a manufacturer would make the effort of making it gore-tex but not making all their pockets waterproof. All it takes is one mental mistake and your phone or wallet is completely drenched.
100 percent agree
Good overview, thanks. How would you compare the Carlsbad, or Klim in general, to Rev’it? I’m considering the Sand 4, but am not sure it will fit and the zip-in liners seem like a hassle. Thanks!
I actually on both in the sand is my jacket of choice
@@BackDraftBikes interesting! I’m about your size and might just have to get over the fact that I need a XXXL
Hey just found your channel, I’m a big guy too with big feet! What do you do for adv/touring boots?
I like ADV style. I currently use Forma's and really like them.
The XL definitely fits you better width wise but does look a little short, did you try a Tall size? I have a Tall jacket (not Klim) and while it gave me the length I needed for torso, the arms are bit long and bunch up at my wrists. I mention that because both the jackets you exhibit here look like they fit you perfectly for arm length, the Tall option may not.
I'm roughly the same size and build as you (6'2" 245lbs), what size pants did you go with?
They don't offer a tall in this model, but I agree with you. I did the 36 pants and they are great.
@@BackDraftBikes Hmm, I don't think I could squeeze into a 36 pant unless they fit unusually big for a 36. Thanks for the reply.
Do you also have current model of Carlsbad pants ? It would be great if you’d share the real measure of the waist.
They were true to the sizes listed on the website. The fitment guide is really helpful.
Just bought this, like the Jacket a lot but I hate the sleeves.Way to long so the last cm of the sleeve is constanly"open"Hope it doesn't destroys the zipp over time.At the end, nothing beats my Rukka suit, not even Klim
Is it worth spending a bomb?? Is the protection brag worthy?
KLIM protection is one of the best in the industry
if loose across your chest was 47 inches, why not buy the XL? 46-48 inches supposed to be XL.
I just followed what the rep said to order. Agreed, the XL would fit better
Between the front pockets not have a good seal, no adjustment to cinch the jacket around the waist and a Velcro neck closure this isn’t for me.
I have an older Dainese leather jacket with Velcro around the neck. It’s doesn’t stay shut anymore and my helmet chin strap gets stuck to it occasionally which is annoying and distracting while riding.
Truth.
@@BackDraftBikes I just ordered the Revit Dominator 3 GTX as it was at a good price and had an extra 15% off at XLMoto. Will see how it goes.
Do folks really care about getting stickers? I mean, even you do, where do you stick them? I’m not going to stick them on my MC.
I stick them in the trash :)
