I fully understand where JMM is coming from when he explains why he dislikes what Canelo does. Marquez never got a gift decisions from anyone, and he never ducked anyone. If people wonder why Mexicans don't fully support Canelo like they did Chavez, for example, it's because Canelo did things like catchweights and rehydration clauses. Canelo took forever to fight GGG, and then he didn't immediately go for a 3rd fight to settle it. Instead he moved up in weight to fight a nobody like Rocky Fielding, and then fought a shot fighter like Kovalev, while also putting a rehydration clause on him. The Mexicans fans notice those details, and that's why Canelo doesn't get 100% support.

He resents that Canelo received recognition early on because he was stuck in Morales and Barrera's shadows earlier in his career, although it turned out to be well deserved as Canelo has exceeded expectations with the career he's had. However, instead of giving Canelo his due, Marquez's resentment only grows with each success. Having a chip on his shoulder may have served Marquez well as a fighter but he needs to mellow out and appreciate life now that he's retired.
