I have been to the island a few times as a kid in the 60's - 70's and also around 2011 (the last time with my Japanese wife). I am retired Air Force and have traveled the world, but nothing really compares to northern MI. I really enjoyed this video as it showed me places on the island that I had never seen before. The fall colors were so beautiful! Thank you!

I worked there for a month back in the 80s when I was in college. So magical and beautiful! But I’ve never seen the island in the fall. I think I like the fall foliage better!
It's something spectacular. October is also nice because it's a lot slower than the rest of the summer and has a different feel. It makes the amazing vistas even more amazing! Maybe you can make it back sometime! Cheers ✨

I loved the day this was taken with part overcast and part sunny skies. This added so much character to the scenery. It was like watching a moving painting.
Every continuous view was it's own treasure and the mood changed with the lighting from cloudy to sunny and back again.
I didn't see one car... only bicycles and horse drawn vehicles. What do people do for going to other places? They need long distance transportation... but I didn't see any.

Hi Gordon! Thank you for your kind words. It's so fun getting to share our beautiful home with others. Mackinac Island is car free so folks get around by walking, bicycles, horse-drawn carriages, wheelchairs, and mobility scooters. There is a ferry service that runs and is how the majority of people get back and forth to the Island. There is also a small airport for small aircrafts and taxi planes as well as a harbor to bring your own boat. However, most people use the ferry service.
Of course, the overall is easy to take because it’s beautiful everywhere your point your camera is beautiful, but really take it and show the unique spots that take some of the knows what they’re doing

A bicycle! We use the iPhone 12 Pro attached to the DJI Ozmo 4 stabilizer. Super simple setup and just keep a hand on the brakes at all times. The combination makes it feel like a low flying drone. Here are affiliate links for both products.

So glad you enjoyed! This was filmed toward the end of October (October 20th ish) but we seemed to have late color last year. Usually Northern Michigan peaks the first or second week of October but Mackinac Island always seems to be a week or so behind that. There are so many different parts of the Island, I'm sure you'll see a bit of color around the time you're visiting!

Yes! A few videos are filmed while riding a bike. The Island has no vehicles so we ride bikes everywhere.

The very end of October! It's a wonderful time to visit Mackinac Island and Northern Michigan in general. Just be sure you check in on things if you are planning an October trip as most of the Island shuts down the last week in October. Downtown businesses begin to close and all of the horse tours stop. Otherwise, it's a lovely time to visit!

@respiretv between 50-60 degrees in October. Now, in July, it's between 65-75.

It really just depends. This October was great! Consistently 50-60 degrees. it always gets cool in the evenings and following mornings when the sun goes down. There are years that its snowed in October though! October is a nice time to visit because there's usually less crowds and things are a bit more budget friendly.

At about 2:06? That's Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. It's a historic, amazing hotel where the movie Somewhere in Time was based and it has the world's longest porch!

I'd say the second week in October. Mackinac Island is generally a week or so behind the mainland.

October. The colors don't change this far north until the 1st or 2nd week of October. September is an AMAZING time to be on the Island though. So many beautiful flowers and sights all around the Island.
We just got back from a stay at Mackinac Island, but it was in May, and none of these colors were there (obviously). When was the footage shown here shot? We'd like to plan another trip there to see the fall foliage.
Later October! The island seems to be a few weeks later than most places in terms of blooms and then color. This was filmed all in October, mostly the 2nd week and on but of course it varies year to year.

I come from Massachusetts. My Mothers family are mostly still in rural Maine. I have seen the most awesome grandeur of Gods creation in the fall colors. Reminds me of a bible verse saying to "consider the lilly of the fields, they neither sow nor reap, but Solomon in all his glory was not clothed as well as these."@@natureharmonytv
