    Real problem with attacking the borg even with big fleets is that attackers keep making the same mistake over and over again. Instead of concentrating attacks and firepower on one spot in order to overwhelm borg systems, those fighting the borg keep making piecemeal attacks over the entire borg vessel.

    In the Star Trek Armada games you could form 2 types of super cube. 8 regular cubes or 8 tactical cubes could be put together to essentially create an unbeatable ship. I remember my super tactical cube was practically impervious to attack. No fleet or base defenses could stop it.

    Big tip for the next away team on a borg vessel. Wear a water tank on your back with a hose attached. Now saturate everything in range with pressurised water. That should short out a large portion of the interior in a matter of minutes.

    I will admit to some confusion. The Borg seem to have adaptive shielding, but would it be more accurate to say that they have a redundancy of generators and that when one gets beaten down they are capable of bringing a spare on-line and altering the output and direction to fill in holes made in made in the shields elsewhere in the cube. The number of crew and excess of equipment makes that easy. The instant communication means that the frequency the shields need to work on are more controllable. This is my conjecture.

    • @larslaufer301
      @larslaufer301 2 роки тому +2

      IIRC its both for Borg. They can very quickly adapt their shields to work against any kind of attack as well as haveing lots of redundant systems as spares.

      @@larslaufer301 Agreed. They rely upon both adaptation and redundancy.

    Well, the Borg have been fighting for at least 900 years; so it makes sense they would have adapted to various species pushing back. So they would need different types of vessels for different scenarios

    I have never understood the need for the Borg to destroy opponents ships. We have often seen them get boarding parties aboard and especially in the film First Contact they seemed to try and assimilate the ship to suit their purposes. Surely that method is more efficient and would cause less casualties among the drones. That plus the effect of increasing the number of ships whilst the invasion is going on would aid the battles.

    • @toddkes5890
      @toddkes5890 2 роки тому +1

      Assimilating another ship might take too long, plus the Federation would have equipped its ships and crew with anti-Borg weaponry/equipment. So a Cube might send over drones to assimilate one ship, but once that ship is considered lost the Federation crew would attempt to escape the ship (transporters, escape pods, or small craft) and the rest of the fleet would open fire on the crippled ship to prevent the Borg from benefiting.
      But once the fleet is small enough, the Borg ship might be able to start assimilating the ships unless it has a more important mission. At least I would figure the Borg would use a pause in the battle to tractor or beam onboard damaged/destroyed ship pieces for raw materials. It won't do this during the battle as this would require lowering its shields and exposing its hull to enemy fire.

    • @dylancummings5033
      @dylancummings5033 2 роки тому +1

      The borg are hyper efficient, or lazy depending on how you look at it.. It's likely they calculate time loss per ship and often decide its better to just blow it up and crack on with their main objective. To assimilate entire species and cultures.

    According to the books, and the Star Trek Armada games, Cubes can also unite together to form Borg Super-Cubes when 4 Cubes or Tactical Cubes merge together. They are basically invulnerable at that point.
    IIRC, they were doing this in one of the Post-Nemesis books when Admiral Janeway and Seven of Nine stopped them and destroyed them. Except, I think, they destroyed Pluto on their way to Earth before they were stopped.
    Like, BLEW THE PLANETOID UP destroyed.
    Would have been fun to have the Super-Cube mentioned.

      Remember on First Contact? Picard had the ships lock weapons on a part of the Borg ship and Data stated that it didn't appear to be an important area? Picard replied "Trust me", and the Cube was destroyed. The armor on the Tactical Cube probably covers the vulnerable areas that don't appear to be vulnerabilities but are. Often times the Borg take damage until their shields adapt. The armor most likely helps them last longer in a fight against species that are more difficult to adapt to.

    I just wanted to say though I like the episodes with the Borg... It's very unrealistic that if such a race / enemy like the Borg existed... I once heard an analogy of the difference between the technology between us and a space fairing civilization.. it was something like ants and humans... They they wouldn't care about us either way we would be as insignificant as ants are to us.. and probably even more so.,

    • @RickySpanish12344
      @RickySpanish12344 2 роки тому +1

      Not really. The Borg are more advanced than the Federation but only by about 50 to 100 years at most. The Borg's main advantage during combat is adaptation based on their collective. But their weapons, shields, and trans warp aren't really that much more advanced than the Federation.

    • @RickySpanish12344

      @@rickjamesbitch7632 I didn't say the Federation would stand a chance. 50 to 100 years is a huge deal. Imagine the American military today going against Germany in WW1. They couldn't do anything against stealth bombers, nuclear submarines, or anything we have today. Modern U.S. military fighting with gloves off would conquer a once world power in a matter of days or weeks. My point was that the Borg would be interested in conquering the Federation, and the humans of that time weren't like insects to the Borg but a race worthy of assimilating.
