Although I love the MK7 too, but what this track sets up part is the whole thing here. The difference between these two Rainbow Road tracks is the graphic and the wholesomeness they gave. It’s unique to each other. So I would not bother to argue what’s the best of these two tracks.

Speaking of which, I wish they'd done this course on MK8 instead of the N64 one. Don't get me wrong, they did a great jog IMHO on the N64 one, but this was just made for MK8 with the anti-gravity etc. and with it being bigger to accommodate 12 players it would have been a great track!
AndrossKenobi I assume the anti-gravity feature will stay for future games, and they seem to be remaking the Rainbow Road tracks one by one, in order of games, so we might see this one get a remake in about 3 games :P
Ahh memories.. the last time I played this was in 2012 on the school bus on the way home. Me and the other kids always brought our DSes and played multiplayer and raged SOOOO hard. We'll probably never experience that again 😢

Rainbow Road is where I executed a LOT of gravity, boost, item, hopping and drift experiments that I still remember to this day. We always make Rainbow Road the final track in tournaments as a tradition and it's fun seeing so much chaos.

Everyone’s talking about how the graphics looked better when they were younger, you could be misremembering but also we played it on a very tiny screen and the low resolution looked better on that screen. So seeing it blown up a tv or even a phone screen makes it look very pixelated. But still I get what they mean
You play exactly like me. Right down to hopping towards the first loop with a mushroom for air time. Also, the graphics looked great on the DS because they matched the pixel resolution on the screens. Of course, they'll look bad when you blow them up to monitor sizes.
There's comments about the graphics seeming awesome when their authors were younger. I totally agree with them. Jumping from the GBA SP to my DSi XL was a massive jump for me, and I loved my DSi XL much more than my GBA SP. Until I got a(n) (old) 3DS XL
We've had plenty of consoles following my DSi XL, including a 360 that I bought myself and a Wii, but I don't think I've ever genuinely coveted something as much as my DS. Bar the lower screen it's held up well, whereas my brother and cousin's original 3DS' have chipped, are flimsy and have awful battery life despite smaller screens.
Oh the memories of playing this game with my older siblings when I was 6! I still have a copy of this game luckily, I’m definitely gonna pick it up and start playing it again!
