Aquascape Tutorial Guide | Bucephalandra Bog ADA 60P | Aquascaping
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 лют 2025
- In this video I show you how I aquascaped my ADA 60P. The central theme is the bucephalandra aquarium plant. A great beginner plant, and also very attractive. Aquascaping made easy with easy to care for plants. All the plants used in this layout are very easy to grow with or without pressurized CO2. The Mini Pellia is the one exception. It can be grown in low-tech, but requires more attention if you want to succeed with it in those conditions. Within a high-tech aquascape it is very easy to grow. This aquascape was designed by Dave of ADU Aquascaping. Thanks for watching, and as always keep your sleeves wet!

I love how well thought out this is, a great tutorial thank you.
Vash The Stampede glad you like it and thanks for watching! Check out my latest video to see the tank at one month. Peace
You really lucked out on that big piece of wood it is amazing
I know right! I knew when I found it that the Buces would look great on it. Just designed the whole thing around complimenting them. If you haven't tried Buces yet I definitely would!
I want to try them in my shrimp tank. I just haven't found any.
STUNNING! Major applause!
haha! Yo!! glad to see you are still on here. I guess all the aquascaping fanatics are still around. haha. Give Buces a try if you haven't already. My favorite is the Isabelle. Has a really unique dark coloration.
Dave very few people can pull off what you can. A lot of people aquascape, but you really make it the art forum it should be. I wish I had known you when I lived in Utah Valley.
Hey thanks for the compliment man. I appreciate you for taking notice. I totally agree and wish more people would see it for what it is. Thanks for watching as usual. If you haven't tried Buces yet I definitely would!
Wow, this is such a beautiful set up!
Hands down one of my favorite scapes of all time. Awesome work man
PS - What a crazy plant selection/collection!
I loved the background sound in the beginning, sounded like a Monterey bay aquarium exhibit. Beautiful tank Dave! Love ya man!
I wish they would let me design a tank for our local aquarium. Their planted tanks are really an embarrassment. Hey thanks for watching as always. If you haven't tried Buces yet I definitely would. My favorite right now is the Isabelle. Really unique and dark in coloration. Peace!
Very good looking tank.
Thanks!
Wonderful! Bucephalandra is my #1 plant!
hey thanks for watching. Glad to hear it!! I keep telling people if they haven't tried Buces yet that they definitely should. I am all about the Isabelle. My favorite one.
Mesmerizing tank. Love the contrast of the colors of fish to the greens and reds from your plants.
Thanks for noticing. Contrast is always a nice touch, as well as using shadow that opens up to light. If you create shadow with a window to light it will create a lot more depth.
Thanks for the tip, I've noticed this to be very true!
Friggin awesome scape. You the man Dave.
Hey man! Glad to see you're still kicking around. Probably will become one of my favorite. All about Buces these days. You should try em out if you haven't.
Nice layout man. This is gonna be a fun one to see grow in.
N.O.A.H. - Northern Ontario Aquarium Hobby thanks man. Yeah it will be one of my favorites in the end. I can already tell!
Beautiful set up as always Bro.
Yo!! what up man! Glad to see you on here. Thanks dude. Just designed the entire thing to compliment the Buces. May turn out to be my favorite scape.
great scape crazy been watching your vids for years came a looong way lol got the video making down and scaping is a breeze now days it seems for you haha cant wait for the update
haha, thanks man, would you believe me if I told you I came up with the design as I made the video. haha. I was just focusing on what would be a good layout to compliment the Bucephalandra. Thanks for watching as always. Glad we are both still kicking around. ha
ADU Aquascaping the experience comes into play haha
Good stuff Dave.
Aquascaping the World by BM thanks dude!
Super work Dave. A real pleasure to watch. :)
Thanks man. Should turn out to be pretty bushy and possibly one of my favorite scapes. Just focused on complimenting the Buces. Peace
you should try out some Buces if you haven't already!
I like that you are showcasing how small tanks can still be incredible!!!
I am just about to do my first Nano aquascape. Should be fun. :)
Love the scape👍🌸
Thanks! And glad you like it
Beautiful job. Now if I could get one kid tough!
BairCichlids thanks! That will be a problem. Set up two. One for them and one for you!
Sick aquascape bro!
j03yYunG Aquariums thanks man. Should be a pretty fun scape over all
Hey, very nice Scape and Video! The bucephalandra is just a great plant. love it.
greetz BD
Thanks man! Yes, I agree!!! I am falling in love with them more and more. Right now I really like the Isabelle. Has a really cool unique shape and dark coloration, and mini size. Thanks for watching man. I will have to check out your channel and see what you are cooking on your side.
Looks awesome
Thanks man! Should turn out to be pretty bushy. May turn into one of my favorite scapes.
Always excited when you release a video.. maybe I think it's too many plant species in this scape but let's wait and see 😁
hahaha, the more the better man! It should turn out to be a pretty bushy scape. And if you haven't tried Buces yet I definitely would. The Isabelle is currently my favorite. Really unique even compared to other Buces.
ADU Aquascaping haha okay. I'm going to tear down my high tech scape in the near future and make a new in a bigger tank(100 liter). I'll definitely use some buces.
pretty! ..does all wood cause water to go yellow fast? or just certain type? PS: cool music!
Thanks. Some woods have more tannins than others. Manzanita wood doesn't yellow the water much at all.
Nice video...☺️
Prathmesh Aquatics thanks! Should be a fun scape to watch... Can't wait myself!!!
Yeah!
Didn't know you could use glue underwater nice, awesome channel by the way.
fin doe yes, you just have to act really fast! Thanks, glad you like it. Will be a fun one to watch
Awesome vid! Loved it
New sub here🤘🏻🐠🐍🐾🦂
Very beautiful, my congratulations.
Thank you! Glad you like the layout. Was a fun one to design. Should get real bushy!!!
Great work. Looking forward for update
Green Cube Aquascapers thanks, me too. Haha. Wait for the Java fern to take over the top right! Peace
Stunning
Thanks glad you like it, and thanks for watching. Give Buces a try if you haven't already. peace!
Beautiful tank! Is that a special type of super glue? I see your glueing plants even with the tank full of water! Doesn't it get all dried up and weird as soon as the plant your glueing hits the water!? I try this and I end up having glue and reglue and reglue and reglue.
Fantastic :)
acquaplants thanks! Glad you like it
Love your videos!. I'm not sure if I missed it, but can you please tell me how you maintain this set-up?; Type of water used (regular tap?, RO?), fert routine, and what your water parameters are in keeping this type of set-up for both fish and plants. Thank you!.
yes, in this tank I am just using tap water. My tap water is also very hard and alkaline, but with pressurized co2 it really doesn't matter. If you are wanting to do low-tech without co2 than the hard water can hinder some plant growth. Check out my hardwater aquarium video if you do have hard water and want to do low-tech.
ADU Aquascaping Thank you for your reply!. I'll actually be using pressurized co2, and I also have hard water. Are you using liquid ferts?, if so, how much and how often?.
Great 'scape! But I'm also impressed with the tetras. I don't believe I've seen Ember Tetras with such intense color.
Right!? I was thinking the same thing lately. I think they look even better under the Halo LEDs. They have really true color rendering. Makes the Embers pop!
What's up, man? Are you doing okay? We haven't seen you make videos since 2 years back.
Great job man, tell us pleas what kind of glue u use ?
Insanely cool. How you get that anubius to grow? I have suceeded growing other plants but anubius keeps melting away. Can u please help me understand what exactly am i doing wrong?
Well they like low light and hard alkaline water. It may be some chemical or a lack of nutrients in the water column. They are one of the easiest plants to grow. Try increasing your light if you haven't already and dosing a small amount of liquid fertilizers.
I have been dosing tropica plant growth premium fertilizer for last two weeks. I have uploaded a new video aswell other plants are doing really well. I have used 10w led floodlight and my tank size is 12g approx.
Thank you
Hey man! Glad to see you're still kicking around! Thanks! If you haven't tried Buces yet I definitely would. Easy- to some degree, and super awesome coloration. Peace
Great scape, love it.
What kind od stone u used ?
i think this is gonna be your best scape when it fills in.
Hey thanks! I think I agree. I can't wait for it to get extremely bushy! If you haven't tried Buces yet give them a try. I really like the Isabelle. Has a really unique dark coloration.
Good music matchup
travellife08 hey thanks. I thought maybe the second song was maybe a bit much for people, but you know me, I am always using some kind of crazy track. Just my personality. Peace!
Stunning tank dude! That hardscape! Did you use any inspiration for this one like the Iceland tank or just found nice rocks and wood in the wilds of utah and just went with it? Liked how you hid the rhizomes, stealing that tip! I also like how you use so many different species of plant but they compliment each other so well that they don't look busy. Do you ever enter competitions? I may have to pick up a little tank and go fully aquascape and plant and nerd out again!
Nope! Just thought of a good design for Bucephalandra, so just focusing on what would work best for them. Came up with the design as I made the video. haha. I still haven't entered any competitions. In the future I will. I would want it to be at least a 90P for competitions. Will have to wait for that.
ADU Aquascaping nice. I've never used bucephalandra before. Not even seen it at my lfs, would probably have to order online. Might have picked up a 20l dennerle tank, now just to find a corner to put it in!
You have amazing talent when it comes to scaping tanks. I love the way every one of your tanks turns out. I know youve been on youtube a while. but how long have you been aquascaping and keeping fish tanks?
Hey man I didn't see this for some reason, I have had tanks all of my life and got really serious in 2007 with African Tanganyika Cichlids. In 2012 I got serious about plants.
Lovely tank. What sort of flow rate (from an external canister filter) would you recommend for a 100L tank?
welshweeks01 usually 10x the total volume of the aquarium per hour in turn over. 1000 L per hour of turnover. Whether it be from filter flow, powerhead, or both.
ADU Aquascaping thanks for the reply, one other question. I'm planning on putting some fish and shrimp in., probably cherry or similar and neon tetras or similar would do you think they'd be ok with the flow?
Does anyuone know what that attachment is called that creates the surface agitation?
I'd love to have one for my canister filter so I can take out my power head.
Excuse me. Do you think stainless steel lily pipes would create a jet of water so strong it'll ripnthr tank apart? 400-600LPH on a 60P
really cool tank! I know this is an older vid, but I've got a noob question..The Locktite superglue will set even underwater? will any superglue work wet, or just that brand. I've got some of another brand and it specifically states "dry surface" on the directions
It may have to be a gel form just so it doesn't cure too fast! Try the gel form of any cyanoacrylate glue and it should work
really lovely, just the hards cape on it's own was great. did you super glue the moss on?
Thanks! Yes I use Loctite super glue the gel type. It works well and is non-toxic. It just gives off a little bit of ammonia in water. You can also use latex gloves to limit it from getting on your fingers.
@@ADUAquascaping Great tank! Really, really nice :) Just one question about glue. Does it glue under water? Can I just put some glue on plant and stick it to the wood under water and will it stay glued?
I love the manzanita Dave, just needed to know, what filter are you using, and is there also a place where I can buy those lights?
Hey thanks man. I am using the API Filstar Medium size canister filter. The lights are AquaticLife Halos so you should be able to get them from the website or Amazon. They are pricy, but man the color rendering is amazing. Really nice. Have had them for two years and no complaints. Fans are still working and quiet
what do you call that little black pebbles?
Mark Francis Bugarin it is ADA Amazonia Aquasoil. It is soil essentially
What is the glue that you used to attach some of the plants onto the rocks and roots/wood?
It is Loctite super glue the gel type. Works well and is nontoxic. It gives off some ammonia as it cures, but nothing to worry about.
Thanks for replying... im from Greece , this is the only Loctite i can find www.profitstore.gr/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/_________________54c297991f721.jpg , not sure if it is the same or if it is nontoxic. Btw EPIC aquascape , loved it.
reignmans that will work!
How do you keep the super glue from sticking to your fingers when you plant like that? I end up with plants stuck to me as much as my hardscape when I try that.
hahaha!! Oh it sticks to my fingers too. I am just a madman. I get a metal wire dish scratcher and rub it off. You can always use latex gloves as well. Once I got some on my lip. Now that sucks!
How many watt for this?
Does the Manzanita wood get that grey fuzzy stuff on it when it's first put in the tank?
Is there any way to avoid this?
Mine got a tiny tiny bit and then it went away. Boiling and rinsing the wood can help to kill fungus. Or limit it.
Did you collect those rocks.. If you did.. How do you know what will be safe in the aquarium
Yes I did. Usually you just want a sand based sedimentary rock, so it limits pH swings from carbonates. I usually try to find a sandstone that has gone through pressure. Basically pure sand. The cementing agent may be calcite, but a lot of times it is just all quartz.
Love the 02 bubbles
Thanks for watching man, me too. haha
great, i love it, regards!
MinorSwing82 thanks for watching! This scape turned out better than others in the past. Haha. Peace!
What are you feeding those embers?? Mine don't show color like that
Sharon Bendtsen It is just that strain. They have a ton of color compared to most.
You can also create an environment that makes them feel comfortable. This is a main reason why they are showing so much color. I wanted there to be shadows
Where do you get your driftwood from?
They normally have it in SPECIALIST fish stores, never go to something like Pets at Home or Petco because they wont do it there. Just go to a place which is all about fish as pets
gerardo carrillo yeah check the specialty fish shops. I collect mine locally, and have a special use permit
What co2 diffuser did u use?
Seymour Seamore thank you 👍
stunning and no algae
Reuploaded?
Gregory Marrero not re-uploaded. Did it disappear for a minute? Hey, thanks for watching! Peace
First comment!!! Woohoo
sagrath1982 ah yeah!!!! Glad to see we are both still kicking around. Ha. Feels good to have a classic nature aquarium once again! Peace
ricca is not mini pellia
This is riccardia (mini pellia) not riccia. Thanks for watching
