Bono is the master of singing in front of tens of thousands of people whilst making you feel like you're witnessing an intimate moment in a small club.
I sadly read that during their last tour they were feeling their age more so than before, they all needed physiotherapists to help them recover after a show. I was hoping they’d go on forever, so my little one could see them with me one day, for now we just listen on the iPad.
@@VINvIN344 Actually not. I'm a singer myself so I'm quite critical of voices. I'll repeat ... Bono has one of the most gorgeous voices in rock! As did Jeff Buckley. My 2 faves ...
Whenever I listen to Bono's voice, I know exactly what an angel sounds like and how far we may see ourselves within this song. Besides Bono is the master of singing in front of tens of thousands of people whilst making you feel like you're witnessing an intimate moment in a small club.
I agree and I just ♥️ the love these guys have for each other. Someone on the U2 Facebook page pointed out that you can see Edge check in with Bono at 4:17 that he's got the next line ("3 o'clock in the morning"). I love the way Edge watches him so closely when they play like this. They are just too darn cute
It's great in every version but especially this acoustic version is incredible. First time I heard it was during Zoo TV 1993, when the Zooropa Album wasn't even out, so unfortunately nobody knew the song. It's one of Bono's favorites too. And the whole sequence of this concert Stay-Bad(-40)-Streets is the best performance I know...
This whole show was iconic. The added verses to the intro of "The Fly" and the way it transitions into the main riff of the song is one of the greatest live concert moments I've seen... I can't wait for them to upload that song!
@@MassEffectGER actually just realized I was thinking of this transition before The Fly and mixed them up 😂 ua-cam.com/video/6lygFjHzTho/v-deo.html - either way, such an awesome show
@@johnulcer Actually "Bad" followed directly after "Stay". I've made a mistake too... "In A Little While" is nestled between "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and "Desire".
Listening to Bono’s audiobook right now and I am struck by how perfectly he executes the vocals in this song in comparison to the Zoo TV live version, for example…Bono’s dad was nearing the end of his life during this tour. Bono had called himself “a baritone who thinks he’s a tenor”, but felt that when his father passed, he gave him the gift of his own vocal talent, and Bono swears he’s been a true tenor since then. Listening to this version now, I can’t help but wonder at the timing
@@FB-kz8vc Heard Ultraviolet in 5 or 6 of those 8 concerts I've been to, but no Stay. One song I can cross from my list is Bad, which they played during the Joshua Tree tour on those four concerts in Brazil (Which I attended btw), but Stay is still one song I need to hear live.
This DVD in 2001 made me absolutely and utterly fall in love with this band and Bono's fighting spirit in live performances! I still think this is one of the best live shows ever done. The energy, Bono his voice fully matured and at it's absolute strongest and the other band members played flawlessly and were all fully into it. Perfection.
I’m obsessed with The Edge. Such a legendary guitarist. His hat really sets him apart. Always wears it. He’s got to be hiding something under there, but I’m not about to ask what. The mystery of The Edge is what draws me to U2. Bono’s voice is of course incredible but empty without the guitar work. Peace and love to all of you out there. Let’s hope for more of this master-class guitar work and personality for our modern music.
47imagine U2 live is such a weird thing to describe. Yes, they sound just as good live. They sound better in fact because of how they interact with the crowd. The feeling and the energy and the singing from the crowd at a U2 show is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. These videos of course isolate the sound of the band from the crowd noise. U2 fans are louuuuud. lol
right! I grew up obsessed with the Slane Castle DVD, so I am biased, but I think it was the peak of Bono’s singing, not to mention what a wonderful album the era marks.
Same. I liked them a lot when I was a kid but I never really did a deep dive until I was about 18/19, which was when ATYCLB came out. After that their songs shaped how I looked at melody
This is the most beautiful song in the Universe, which makes it possible to hope that not everything is lost in this world and that there is still a reason to live on...
Epic live performance with just the two of them. Bon is on point, and Edge is polarising with his harmonies, and that guitar. Total respect to a band that have stood the test of time. 🙏✊👏👏👏👏
My favourite band since 1982, their best work is always live. Been lucky enough to have followed them up until the present. A truly fantastic musical, talented bunch frumpy home town.
I have known this song since the day it was recorded and published. But when I found this live version there is no night to hear it before going to bed. Because this performance for me is the real masterpiece

The most blowing thing I ever lived... 2 hours of crazyness, of a crowd thinging all the songs with all his heart, I did'nt touch the ground 2 hours long...
