U2-The Unforgettable Fire Tour: Under Australian Skies-1984 I saw this tour in Australia and New Zealand: Perth, Sydney, Wellington, and Auckland! Great tour Great songs always concluded with 40 at the venues I saw. I still have my tour shirt!!!
One of the best bands by a mile. When us irish were looked at being backwards in the 80s these lads come out with music that is simply divine, intellectually deep and intelligent. There is and never will be anyone like them again. Truly special.
My late husband played this song all the time when we first met. I like to remember him driving his 78 Pontiac Tans Am listening to this song. RIP my love. Keep on cruising in your TA!
I bought ‘The unforgettable fire’ on vinyl in 1984 and this song blew me away then and still does today! I’m 65 and not heard this for many years! This is the first time I’ve seen this live version and I think I’m on about the 5th repeat…..just magical….Wooohooo!!! 😎🤩
Christopher age 44 and listener since just a little boy. This might be my favorite song since my parents divorce at 12, but they are the only band who makes me cry or even laugh with every song from the best band in history🎉
Bono's "Wide awake" line, the first time he goes high, is consistently the best he's ever hit it in my opinion. And this is coming from a guy who sat and listened to this song for two hours straight haha! I'm floored every time I hear it.
After 38 years it still gives me the chills. Up till this day it's a song you can picture in every schred off time. So fulfilling your mind and soul 💋♥️
39.. years young this Song is. BAD... Not commercially known a freakin bloody Brilliant tune,, with a Dash of Poetry! "Isolation", "desolation"... "Salvation"
This one performance for me is U2 at their peak and has over the years become my absolute favourite of theirs. Larry guiding, Adam driving, Edge flying and Bono soaring.
I bought this album "Wide Awake in America" at a CD shop while I'm on a business trip to the US. I love this video which captures stage staff. It brings me to the stage side even now.
U2 is my oldest love in music. Bono's voice, Edge's great sound and guitar playing and the solid and original spine of the band with Larry and Adam who are always forgotten... Juts one of the best bands still active that never changed a band member and that was never afraid to take chances. I would love your input on our last video. If you have just 3 minutes to listen and a bit more to comment, that would mean the world to me. Keep rockin' : ua-cam.com/video/ufF4gUA_6rQ/v-deo.html
This is the best fucking U2 song to me. Every time I hear it, I would fucking tear up... I love all the old U2 stuff from their 1st album "Boy" to "Rattle and Hum".....so emotional, raw, and edgy.
Wow I saw them at Perth concert hall in 85 as a 15 year old. It was the first time I'd heard bad and after listening to this song I had goosebumps all over again 😊 after the concert I got to meet with Bono and thank him for the unforgettable performance
This band - and in particular, this one song - was transformative for me. The creativity, energy and powerful range was truly inspiring at a key point in my young life.
Like a lot of people at the time, I was 15 as well when U2's music turned my head in the most radical way. It was The Edge's guitar sound that took me out of the heavy metal phase I was engaged in. Which I loved for a time. Iron Maiden being in the top 3. I noticed that one of the main reasons The Edge's guitar work grabbed my attention was that he was in E flat and sometimes a whole step down from concert pitch. Especially "11 O Clock Tick Tock" from Red Rocks. It gave it more color and ambience that I never paid attention to up to that point. Even his piano playing had a landscape of it's own. October, New Year's Day, Stranger In A Strange Land, Scarlett, and many others are stunningly beautiful. This version of Bad still makes me stop what I'm doing and pay close attention. And it's nothing complex at all... just shifting from A to D. Adam's bass lines still give me goosebumps. I kind of dropped out a bit after The Joshua Tree. appreciated them afterwards but didn't hone in as close as I did with Boy up to Joshua Tree.
The 80s were the golden decade of music, bands emerged with great international successes that are still successful today, if you agree with me, give it a like and let's enjoy this U2 success 😎
Em 1987 eu tinha sete anos e me encantei por vocês ouvindo With Or without you! Daquele dia em diante eu comecei a ouvir U2...minha vida passa pelo U2! Escuto U2 todo dia.Desejo q vocês tenham vida longa...pra mim U2 é a melhor banda do mundo!! E assim q puder venha pra São Paulo/ Brasil
Grew up with U2 in Dublin. Served them beers at a couple of the scruffiest kips you could ever imagine long before they were famous. Have seen them tons of times since, last time in Toronto a decade ago. For me, this is not only their best song ever about the darker side of Dublin back then, but their finest raw, gut wrenching performance ever. Sung the way it was intended to be heard, this is their true rock masterpiece when they used to sing about important social issues, long before they went globally commercial.
This live version of this classic to me is the definitive version of this track, it has it all, it's truly emotionaly charged if you know what the song is about. And it's audio origin is 24 track analog tape, Not digital, which is why it sounds fucking awesome. it beats the living shit out of the album version all day every day.
11/29-1988 I hit rock bottom with hard drugs and alcohol, I always listened to this on my cassette player after heavy drinking nights (4 day binges) and at that time the music was beautiful to listen as the sun's came up... it's now 2022.. this is now played as I'm doing my artwork sipping coffee and remembering how bad it was at one time.. I mean a dark world and felt jacked up for all reasons to allow the drinking to continue. I was 25 back then, I am now 58 and never relapsed for any reason because I knew giving myself to God and awoke a sobered man.. I knew a great thing happened and it was a new life to follow. Worked my 12 steps, aa meetings, church, family. " if you cannot direct the winds, you can adjust your sails".. amen.
Seriously. If anyone could find that and remaster it we would be a happy bunch. Goodness. Too bad they didn't do an Unforgettable Fire tour like The Joshua Tree 30th tour. That would have been grand if they would have had Eno and Lanois with some strings accompany them...a lad can dream.
Fantastic song. "Bad" is arguably their BEST song ....EVER!! This is U2 at their very best. The 80s was U2's best moments. This song, With or Without You, Where The Streets and All I want is you is this band's finest work. Also, this version of Bad is from their mini LP released in the 80s and thought this recording was from Wembley Arena 1985??
Musica que me marcou muito, Sampa, metrô, muito rock, e uma fita cassete do U2 tocando no toca fitas,Praca da cidade universitária,Nacion na rua Augusta, victoria pub na Av. Lorena. E Sampa que não sai de mim. 89 rock fm na veia . U2 te amo demais quanto mais anos passam mais te gosto.
This has to be my favorite U2 song. MAN, does it ever speak to my soul. I especially love the version in Rattle and Hum the movie. The PASSION Bono sings with just REALLY does something to my SOUL!!!
It's amazing how lifeless the studio version of this sounded the second we all heard the live version. It's a shame that they hadn't really nailed the song yet in the studio, but we have this to make up for it. :)
I think of it as more of a U2 is one of the only bands that sound better live than supported by all the studio tech, as opposed to the studio work is lacking.
@6:18 That's Greg Carroll- their Kiwi roadie & friend. Bono wrote the beautiful song "One Tree Hill" in memory of him on the Joshua Tree album. x Bless him. x
I haven't seen this version before. You wouldn't believe what I noticed. At 3:08 you can see Greg Carroll for whom One Tree Hill was written. Unmistakably.
I missed U2 coming into their GLORY in the 1980ies - due to heavy heavy work load, projects with very strict dead lines. Now I am catching up - thnks for uploading

Adams bass line is top! 👑 👑
So is Edge's guitar riff~
Adam Clayton does more at playing less than any other bassist in rock music. Period.
Christopher age 44 and listener since just a little boy. This might be my favorite song since my parents divorce at 12, but they are the only band who makes me cry or even laugh with every song from the best band in history🎉

Goosebumps, even in 2021. What. A. Song
Yes every time ..
Goosebumps and a lump in my throat every time I hear or see this ❤️.

Absolutely 💯

Me and the wife were there, Dave Hill from Slade was sat in front of us, it was a brilliant night.
Wow!
Brilliant it was i say. Most enjoyable U2
very lucky guy!
You're very very lucky man!
I wish I was alive in the 80s
Quite possiblity the best song ever written and played!!

One of the most magnificent pieces of music ever written. This composition easily sits aside the works of the great masters of western art music.

Smoothest voice of all time! ANd the band aint half bad too. Loved U2 since 7th grade 54 now and this song is stronger than ever! Thanks Gents!
This is by far my most played track, it's the best version of this song and really nails their magic, especially in that era
