The pairing of Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan works unbelievably well. I think the movie turned into such a success in large part because of their chemistry together. Apparently they're still close friends to this day.
Carl Lewis was a US track athlete that dominated the 100 m, 200 m, and long jump in the 80s and into the 90s. I'm pretty sure he still holds a long jump world record. He won 9 Olympic gold medals over the course of his career.
@Donnie Boughton He said he still holds 'A' world record in long jump, while not stating indoor or outdoor. You also said Carl Lewis never held the world record for long jump, so you were wrong twice. That sucks.
Basically, rush hour is a modern day take of lethal weapon. One thing I love about Jackie Chan. Is he a new? He had to be different than a lot of the other action stars that have come out of Hong Kong at the end of the day. Most people, most true martial arts fans will always see. Bruce Lee as the head alpha. You look at all the people that came after him. Jet Li, Jackie Chan ,Donnie Yen. And they all admired Bruce Lee. Jackie Chan even work with him once. But he had the separate himself. From all the other Hong Kong martial artists by using more comedy mixes with theatrical action. He did his own stunts that were somewhat different from a lot of other actors. In the beginning, they tried to build him off as the next Bruce Lee. But that didn't work. He found his own and ran with it for over 40 yrs
"Is there anything that this man can't do"? Basically... no. Jackie Chan is obviously well known for stunts, martial arts, etc. so imagine my surprise when I discovered that he also has an impressive singing voice! That totally came out of left field for me!
The car that Carter is driving is the 1972 Chevrolet Corvette Stringray C3. There have been quite a few variations of the corvette throughout the last 60+ years. They are still somewhat popular to this day and were also used in motorsport racing for many years due to it's relative cheapness but powerful engines compared to some other sports cars and racing cars. They are pretty much a jewel for many car lovers throughout the corvettes' history, making it one of the greatest American sports cars of all time.
The biggest audience laugh I ever heard in a movie theatre was when Chan used the n-word for the first time, as everyone there knew what was about to happen.
Actually, Shanghai Noon with Owen Wilson and Luci Liu was before this one and it cemented him in Hollywood. Before that he has a lot of films from China that were dubbed in English. Incredible stunts in those as well.
@@johngreen6521 truth. Was born in 87 and used to rent Jackies Hong Kong movies as a little kid. I specifically remember this movie being his 1st US film.

He was 41 in Rumble...and 40 in Legend of Drunken Master and STILL doing his own fighting and the majority of stunts as can be seen in the bts footage. Even in Forbidden Kingdom, the director (also an accomplished martial artist) stated in the commentary that he had difficulty reconciling Jackie's age with his execution, speed, "explosive power", and fluidity of movement. He was 54 at the time and 9 years older than Jet Li. So, I wouldn't count him out even at 69 since it appears that he still trains every day.
I was able to see Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker on the set of Rush Hour 3 as they filmed at the same hospital my mother worked at. They even used my mom’s name as the nun (Sister Agnes) that helps Jackie and Chris.
The scene where the building blows up is actually filmed at 6th & Broadway as mentioned in the movie. 3 parts of this movie that really make me crack up laughing are: 1. When Carter starts dancing like Michael Jackson in the middle of the street after blowing the car up 2. When Lee and Carter are bonding and practicing disarming techniques while Edwin Starr's song "War" plays in the background 3. When Carter says "I know that ain't the bomb. I mean American is different from English. My Spanish teacher told me mexican Spanish is hillbilly Spanish.
Lol. My Mexican friends always said the Spanish they taught us in school was stuck up Spanish. Then they proceeded to teach me Mexican cuss words. 😂😂
In Lee's defense they don't really teach American history iin Hong Kong. I had to explain to a friend of mine who lives there about Lee's situation. After I gave her a little history lesson about America during the early days, slavery and the N word she promised she will never say the N word at all. Especially to me.
