Their relationship in real life was was actually pretty close to how they appeared in the movie. When they first met, Jackie Chan took his job really seriously while Chris Tucker was often goofing off and partying. After working together, Jackie Chan learned to relax a little while Chris Tucker got more serious about his work.
This movie & 2 are still funny 'til this day! And Jackie was a beast. I love Chris Tucker's line "WE the LAPD, we're the most hated cops in all the free world. My own mama ashamed of me. She tell everybody I'm a drug dealer!"
Chan can definitely still move... at least as of 2017, in the film "The Foreigner". That is a highly recommended film, although it is a much different film. It was one of his most serious roles. It's not light hearted, like most of his previous stuff. It still shows that he's up to it, and he can tackle serious roles, as well as more comedic roles.
fun fact while filming the bar fight scene Jackie was completely unaware of the history behind the N-word. After recording the scene he asked Chris Tucker why everyone would be so mad because the scene wasn't making sense to him and after Chris Tucker explained, he was ashamed and vowed to never say it again and that he wouldn't do anymore Rush Hour movies if he had to use that word again.
3 parts of this movie that really make me crack up laughing are: 1. When Carter starts dancing like Michael Jackson in the middle of the street after blowing the car up 2. When Lee and Carter are bonding and practicing disarming techniques while Edwin Starr's song "War" plays in the background 3. When Carter says "I know that ain't the bomb. Get that bomb away from me." Towards the end And Trust me, the blooper reels for the remaining two movies are just as funny when it comes to the slip-ups with the dialogue
Omg, I've binged your whole series of Rush Hour reactions and they are PHENOMENAL. Thank you so much for your genuine chemistry, good-natured humour and bantering. You guys are gems. I actually watched these out of order because I was looking for 'Rush Hour 2' reactions originally. Loved yours so much I just had to stay and watch them all ^^
Y'all definitely need to finish this trilogy out. Tucker and Jackie are freaking hilarious and awesome together. Also, I'm pretty sure that ankle break happened during Rumble in the Bronx when he jumped on the boat. You can actually see it during the film. Then again, I'm pretty sure he's broken a lot during his years entertaining the world. Gotta love the man.
54:40 Fun fact if anyone was curious. The reason why that's a blooper and then Chris Tucker came in and added more to it was because of this. The original line by Lee in the movie was, "I suspect Juntao is behind this." But in this blooper Jackie accidentally said, "I suspect Sooyun is behind..." and then he burst out laughing because he flubbed the line. Chris striding in comedically because he saw Jackie messing up and then asking "What's up with your daughter??" made it funnier unintentionally.
The two of them had a very similar friendship in real life as they do in Rush Hour, so that is definitely why the series is so good. The whole "Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?" line was something Chris Tucker said to Jackie the first time they ever met. After they got to know each other, Jackie had a lot more fun on set and Chris took his acting a lot more seriously.
Another movie you might like with Chris Tucker is The Fifth Element with Bruce Willis set in the future in which he plays an outlandish media personality.
"Rumble in the Bronx" is the movie where he jumped from 1 building to a order. But he didn't have to do it twice. He did it in 1 take. He broke his ankle jumping on to a Hovercraft. He still had shots/stunts to do, so they made him a sock to look like his other shoe so he can finish the movie.
Aside from the MIB trilogy the rush hour trilogy are the quintessential buddy cop movies. While the jokes would most likely get people cancelled these days at the heart are two different people that overcome their differences when they have common cause.
I remember when I first saw this. I was in the mountains on a family vacation. We went to the small video rental store halfway up the mountain and rented this on vhs. The part where Carter yells to get your shit and get out the door was the funniest thing me and my brother ever saw. We must have rewound it 30 times to watch that part again.
fun fact: Jackie didn't know about the history & racism behind the n word when he first used it in this movie so when Chris told him, he said he wouldn't make another RH if they made him use the word again
I also wanted to tell you guys that your laughter during Rush Hour was very contagious and I don't know how I missed your reaction to naked gun but I'm fixing to watch it. so basically what I'm saying is with everything crazy going on right now in the world we need more of your laughter.. Happy New Year to you both as well.
And YES, I don't give a damn what people think: It would be AWESOME if y'all reacted to the "Fast & Furious" movies. Just to watch that series slowly but surely lose its mind lol. Tho to be fair "Fast Five" is definitely one of the best overall action movies of the 2010s; just has that healthy balance of over-the-top action, while still being somewhat grounded.
Never doubt, Jackie ALWAYS does his own stunts..watch Rumble in the Bronx..he literally broke his ankle on a jump, and then continued to film the movie with a Nike? shoe cast..LOL Great reaction. I think if you want a beautiful film, you should check out out Dragon Blade with Jackie Chan and John Cusack..such an amazing film!
Some Jackie Chan movies I know Jane will love and will give you nostalgia. Rumble In The Bronx, and Who Am I? Chris Tucker movies to watch is Friday, The Fifth Element, and one of the most under rated Money Talks. Great franchise movies to watch Lethal Weapon, Bad Boys, and Eddie Murphy’s Beverly Hills cop. You both will not be disappointed at all.
Loved the reaction. You guys are great. The point you were asking about urban survival guy is the guy who does the Detroit urban survival tactics or dust and he's fake, the moves he shows have been warned against by actual fighters and he's capitalized on people who who don't train. There's a guy who has a channel called Steven strangles people who is very real and commentary is awesome I'd highly recommend if interested. Have a great day
Fun Fact: Chris Tucker is a trained Martial Artist, and he said that he saw that Jackie Chan wasn't that good at martial arts so he taught him some of his moves from his technique that he calls 'Black Chi'.
57:59 Chris Tucker was only in the first Friday, but none of its sequels. Besides this Rush Hour series, Chris was in the movies, "Money Talks" and "the 5th Element."
Words like "sexist" are thrown around so much nowadays they mean literally nothing. I ask my girlfriend what she's wearing all the time. I guess I'm sexist too.
I got to meet Mark Rolsten (FBI Agent Russ) a year ago. He told me that after the film wrapped up, Jackie Chan rented out the Planet Hollywood restaurant (I don't which one) to throw a party. Mark brought his family with him and said that Jackie was really kind and friendly to his wife and kids.
I can’t believe the first and second film are over 20. I have an idea for a little bit of the plot for the fourth film. The little girls Soo-Yung is much older and has become a cop or some type of agent, and needs Lee and Carter’s help on a case.
They goof up at the start. The guy was selling c4 and it was some how detonated by a gunshot which in reality is completely impossible as its a very very stable high explosive and can only be detonated by an electrical charge. Its so stable that in vietnam soldiers used to set fire to it and cook food on it.
Can’t wait for both of you to watch the rest of the trilogy. There isn’t much respect for Rush Hour 3. Rush Hour 2 was the funniest one out of all of them. I just caused a huge argument in the comments and I don’t regret it. 😂
“Fake Michael Jackson music”, as REAL Michael Jackson music plays lol. Anyway, this flick is a Stone cold classic. I love the trilogy, tho for me, the first one is the overall best one, in terms of balancing the comedy and action. Second one has the best action IMO, but the comedy isn’t as strong. Third one felt phoned in. But still, such an enjoyable action comedy with great chemistry between Chan and Tucker
17:40 Actually, iirc the song played here in the car stereo was originally supposed to be something from Lil' Bow Wow, but they changed it in post production so the rhythm Chris Tucker 8s bouncing to doesn't even match with the audio played in the final edit.
The axe noises. That's foley. A foley artist recreates realistic sounds for films. (Oh, and i've done EOD and mine disposal training. I literally do walk around with cutters on me every time i leave the house. It's not far fetched. I have 3 different multitools in 3 different locations. Home, Work, Belt.)
You guys probably already seen FOOTLOOSE but if you haven’t you should check that out…remember CLYDE from this…he plays as WILLARD in FOOTLOOSE and his girlfriend is played by SARAH JESSICA PARKER…it came out in 1984.
The Die Hard movies would be great. (Not the fifth one, though.) However,I should tell you that I wouldn't really classify them as comedy. And even though the Lethal Weapon movies are the epitome of "buddy cop" movies, they're really more serious action than they are comedy (despite their being definite comedic elements to them); they aren't comedic on the level of the Rush Hour movies.
Was born in 97 remember my family having it on vhs and a lot of other movies of course used to watch it together on the CRT I’m only 25 but it makes you feel older….
Also the "wipe yourself off, your dead." Is a response to when he said it to Carter earlier but he said "wipe yourself off, you're bleeding."
JV loosing it during the bloopers was the best part of this reaction. 😂
My favorite blooper is from the second movie... (phone call)
Me and my friends still quote the bloopers 25 years later.
@@RedmoonIndustries
"DAAAMN! He ain't gonna be in Rush Hour 3!"
He wasn't, by the way!
The “fake Michael Jackson song” is “Another Part of Me” by Michael Jackson.
I know I stared at the screen for a whole minute like FAKEEEEE????
@@BigMoneyChao That LEGIT pissed me off.
Very true. It's Track 6 off of his 1987 album Bad. (I have the special edition version of that album. As well as Thriller and Dangerous.)

The chemistry between Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker is what makes these movies so legendary. You can tell they really are great friends.
Their relationship in real life was was actually pretty close to how they appeared in the movie. The Rush Hour franchise is an absolute classic.
Beverly Hills Cop as well(the first two)
This is one of those movie series where the bloopers are just as funny as the movie itself. "Show me your ass!" still slays me. 🤣
Chris: Show ya ass? *laughs y’all some gay ass cops 😭😭🤣🤣🤣
"Show me yo ass?!"
JV’s imitation of Chris Tucker is hilarious 🤣
This movie & 2 are still funny 'til this day! And
Jackie was a beast. I love Chris Tucker's line "WE the LAPD, we're the most hated cops in all the free world. My own mama ashamed of me. She tell everybody I'm a drug dealer!"
Respect for not suggesting the 3👍
my favourite line - "no problem, just...rush hour" BANG BANG BANG
Your Chris Tucker impression is spot on lol especially when you siad "show me yo ass"
Chan can definitely still move... at least as of 2017, in the film "The Foreigner". That is a highly recommended film, although it is a much different film. It was one of his most serious roles. I really like the Police Story series
Watching you two is like watching family. Thank you for everything you do. I love you.
I like when he takes the gun from the guy at 43:45 he looks down really quickly to make sure he did it right 😅
The fifth element is a must one from Chris Tucker
I 2nd the motion: The fifth element is a must one from Chris Tucker.
agreed

Yup I always found it kinda funny he nailed the epic building to building jump just fine but the much smaller jump later is what injured him
So glad you all did the bloppers. Many reactors don't.
