With atrocious marvel movies during the 90's, the lid was about to be shut off on Marvel adaptations when this movie came out. So it's not a stretch to say that without Westley Snipes, there would be no Marvel Universe today.

The 90's was Wesley Snipe's heyday. He was part of some great movie making. Of course you have Jungle Fever, New Jack City, White Men Can't Jump. But one of my favorite movies he did was the Art of War. Pretty decent action in that one.
If it weren’t for Blade, and a year later the X-Men, we wouldn’t have the MCU today. And the alternate ending (when it shows them on the rooftop), Blade sees a figure dressed in black with a motorcycle helmet on, and this figure was supposed to be Morbius the Living Vampire.

Now you can understand the hype and perhaps "backlash" if you could call it that at the announcement of a rebooted Blade with actor Mahershala Ali in the lead. Not that he's a poor actor, which he's quite the contrary, but Weasley Snipes IS Blade. Seeing anyone else portray the Daywalker is genuinely a difficult task even with a very solid script.
And since they brilliantly retconned Blade's origin story and made him a half-vampire who still ages like a human Wesley could've easily stepped right back into the role.

You definitely need to watch the second one and the third one knowns as "Trinity". Ps Wesley Snipes had been training in martial arts since age twelve, earning a high ranking 5th dan black belt in Shotokan Karate and 2nd dan black belt in Hapkido. He has also trained as a student of Capoeira under Mestre Jelon Vieira and in a number of other disciplines including various styles of kung fu. He's an authentic martial arts specialist 😅😅😅
Actually the very first Marvel superhero movie was Howard the Duck, in 1986 (Howard can be seen in the modern MCU in the post-credits of GotG2, and in a quick shot in Endgame). It's a majorly bad acid-trip of a movie, but it had Lia Thompson, so I don't mind watching it for her, lol. There was also some made-for-TV Marvel movies back in the 80s (Hulk, Captain America, and I think a Thor + Hulk movie), but I don't count those. But yeah, Blade was the first REALLY GOOD superhero flick based on a Marvel property.
I'm genuinely surprised this is the first time you saw this. Back when I was a Xena impersonator, one of my friends joined me at a local sci-fi /fantasy convention in Seattle as blade. I first saw this when I was 9 years old. Watched it many times. I shouldn't have seen it that young, but yeah it's a banger.
The music was good too at the rave 👍
Snipes in DEMOLITION MAN as a villain is amazing.
He’s also in US MARSHALL. 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Love this movie
Man you gotta watch the other two Blade movies. So fun
Snipe's shenanigans over the years aside, this movie is one of the best vampire movies ever made, and the Blade character is awesome :)
If you want to see more outrageous Snipes, watch "Demolition Man", lol.
The sequel is good too. Directed by Guillermo Del Toro.
Wesley Snipes is also really good as Shadow in the under-rated amazing classic Mo Better Blues...he and Denzel Washington.
Actually Howard the duck was before this. Howard is the duck that "The Collector " has in a cage in guardians of the galaxy.
Some of my fave Wesley Snipes movies:
Blade
Demolition Man
New Jack City
White Men Can't Jump
To Wong Fu, Thanks for Everything,! Julie Newmar
Blades mom* crying and dying
Kabir"😭😭....🖕fuhck off"
😂😂😂☠️☠️
It's a very serious movie. It also has jokes.
UnderWorld was inspired by Blade. The main character Celine (Kate Beckinsale) plays a DeathDealer killing Werewolves...
I love the gigantic fat naked vampire. I’ll bet he’s an ode to the huge underwater vampire in Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing.
Blade (and the franchise) is a fun movie(s). My only complaint is that the silver weakness is a werewolf thing not a vampire thing.
Blade the Daywalker is the most dangerous swordsman in Marvel! He is a vampire hybrid goon with maximum drip!
Snipes was/is a martial artist after years training.
Another great Marvel movie is Punisher from 2004 which like Blade felt like a regular action movie.
He wore one of the actual long leather coats from the movie that he bought at auction; however, I hate to say this, but they aren't real leather. But they still look damn cool!😎
