@@Oshaoxin the recent update of android 13 did help with the heating. because when I first got it out of the box, just setting up the phone and on screen was causing it to heat up, now after the update spending time on screen is cooler compared to when I first got it. So indeed it is a software issue.
specs aside, sony is easy to live with. Good to know they improved in major areas they were somewhat behind, but since the xperia 1iii, sony is the phone to go for. if you don't mind the extra $$
Please do Xperia 1 II vs III and Xperia III vs IV and also because a lot of us are thinking of upgrading from our 4-5 year old phones, please make one for Xperia 1 IV vs Xperia XZ1.
Love this review. The only thing I can say about the Sony, is that there is significant reports of overheating, and their software support really sucks. I would be the Sony wins in the app tests because it's clocked faster, hence the overheating.
TBH, when it comes to heating issues: Almost all smartphones under the same SD Chipsets act the same. It will be only fixed once android version updates have been rolled-out on a later time. Majority of phone's heating issues can only be fixed by a software update/s from time to time. Reminds me of my old Xperia Z4 from Japan it has abnormal heating issues, but it was revealed that almost all phones using the same chipset (SD810) acts the same. From Sammy's, LG, Google Pixel, OnePlus, and other brands too.
The Sony Xperia is made for people that do photography and want a phone that acts more like an old car with a stick shift and a clutch. The Samsung is nice and works great but I've already seen enough issues with them ramping the CPU down just to deal with all the applications they can carry. But regardless if you just need a good phone the Samsung is a real nice piece. But if you're looking to do more and you want to have expansion of a microSD so you literally have a computer in your pocket then you definitely want to go with the sony. They're a little more expensive but they are worth it in the end. I haven't Xperia Pro I which did cost a hunk of money but the equivalent Apple phone was only 200 bucks cheaper. But ever since I went with Sony I haven't ever looked back. Much better quality for photography which is where it counts for me considering the business that I'm in.

I own the Samsung S22+ and I really like it and I thought everyone abandoned headphone jack and SD card. If I knew the Sony didn't I would have gone for the Sony because I like that freedom with memory and being able to charge while listening from headphones. Also not super healthy with Bluetooth so wired headphones are great in many situations. Definitely something I think more people should support so kudos to Sony for keeping some wishes from users intact. No one asked to get rid of SD card or headphone jack. They just do this to push sales on other crap like dropbox services and their own wireless headphones. Just saying us consumers need to vote by not buying the things that go in the wrong direction. That is all we can do so I must say Sony won this test, still 2 great phones and I am still happy with mine.
Yes bro. First they started with non removable battery. Then unexpandable memory, and now no headphone jack. Sony is UpTo date still keeping these features.
the fun part of removing headphone jack, Sony did it too from XZ2, XZ2C, XZ2P, XZ3, Xperia 5 and Xperia 1, Apparently, that strategy failed, then they bring back the headphone port on Xperia 1 II since it feels silly to sell the headphone port separately, just like other brand does.

Has anyone had trouble with buying the 256gb variant in US through Amazon? It's much cheaper and I'm planning on buying it I just don't want connectivity issues
Sony is the best!Extra space + legendary jack 3.5mm ( the feature destroyed for branded " waves in your ears " ).Speed is amazing also,4k but with a reason ( allready 3 features over other " brands " .Yes they fucked with the wall chargers but in rest everything is 3 steps over the competition. The shutter lag on my Samsung (note 20 ultra and all previous ones before it) is such a negative to its camera performance. It might have great specs on paper and be able to do clever AI stuff to the photo it takes, but i frequently mis the shot I wanted as it doesn't take the photo quick enough when pressing the button. The Sony seems to have no lag whatsoever
With Samsung you can take photos faster than you think you just have to hold the volume un button and it can take 1000 photos and it's select the best to show first my s10plus have this future soil think even the note 20 has
I am using Samsung Galaxy Note3 Snapdragon version for years. If my phone gets broken, I would choose Sony. I want Apple 11 Pro Max since it is last iPhone does not overprocess the photos but I am Android guy unfortunately. Pixel 6a was my first choice but it does not have MicroSD card slot. I can use adapter for 3.5mm jack but external slot is unforgettable since I do have songs over 80GB.
Sony som používal už od začiatku . Rád počúvam hudbu a mali veľmi dobrí prehrávač .
The funny thing is that no one in these tests mentions that most Samsung phones have problems with the Antenna and a very poor range. And that's an irreparable hardware problem.
For sure Sony is overall the better phone. If you wish to do point and shoot photography, Samsung easily takes it. But if you know what you're doing and prefer manual settings, it's much closer. I noticed a flicker on the Samsung screen but not on Sony's. Did you ever set your Samsung to 120hz?? Because it doesn't come that way out of the box. That would also partly explain the battery section, but as you pointed out, Sony is running 4k. Your button mashes are sometimes at the same time, but you often hit the right phone (Samsung) first in your testing. You also never cleared out the cache or stopped programs running in the background and who knows what you had in the back on each, so your app start up tests aren't accurate. Sony should still win it as it is the faster phone. Sony speakers utterly destroy the Samsung speakers (as many others do). Getting louder means nothing when it's so shrill and it's just a cell phone to begin with. Quality is #1.
lol the Samsung only appears that way on camera, yes it's set to 120Hz, but regardless of the Hz it won't look that way in-person. also, I showed that the apps were cleared out at the beginning of section 3, as I do for every speed test.
@@PhoneBattles The apps are not cleared out as we watch you opening more and more. They may have been initially, but then they never were again. The reason that the Samsung is flickering is because you're catching a frame rate within a frame rate. The frame rate of the Samsung is being filmed by the frame rate of the camera capturing it. But the frames on the Sony are significantly smoother and so it doesn't appear that way. I can't give you the reason why if you have them both at 120 hz. But I can tell you quite factually that the Sony is running a smoother screen and that's why that Samsung is choppy. I know it doesn't look like that in person. It's a frame within a frame. It also happens if you film an old TV.
@@PhoneBattles by any chance, do you have Samsung's adaptive feature on? It slows down the frame rate when video is not being played. It's a battery saving feature. Some phones will actually bring it down to one Hertz because it's just a still image. I don't recall what the s22 ultra brings it down to. Do you have that feature turned on or is it a constant flow?
Sony it's not just faster but it has some hardware details that makes the difference, such as Bluetooth aptx/aptx-hd, Ldac, that runs at 24 bit, including the jack 3,5 under a real DAC 24 bit per channel, native music player that runs HR files , plus native App from the division of Alpha Sony, professional video and camera, definitely Sony it's into another level
Sony needs to change their OS. They use the basic Android one software just like nokia with minimum customisation. It lacks features and good animations.
No competition at all. Sony might be great, but Samsung is king. Overall performance in the long run is on Samsung's side. A lot of Sony phones are fast out of the gate but degrade in performance after a year. The same used to be the case for Samsung, but stopped after the S7 series. Samsung is just better and stomps Sony at everything. Better display, better cameras, better optimization, better speakers, better software support, better design, better build, better everything, and the brand recognition. Sony now just relies on its past nostalgia and overprices its mediocre phones too much. Phones that do not even hold a candle even to the basic S22 and iPhone 14 models. Sony also uses a lot of Samsung parts in their internals. Samsung is king and Apple is their only rival at this point.
Long run?? i have xz1 for 4 years which is never even program crashed or lagging, or restart at sudden, I like to play pubg on it as well...I still have it till now..while my wife S9 is somewhere else, glass screen and the display is very weak and easily cracked on side, I dont need to tell the rest..
The phone did not seemingly overheat at all when shooting videos outside. Hmmm, I think somebody's being a bullshit here. This is not TechOdyssey for sure, lol.
I have had some overheating issues when it's hot outside unfortunately, though not on the day I was filming this. I'll test that more in my next comparison video.
Even if you tell me to get rid of the corner of the Note Series, It's really hopeless. Even if you look at the iPhone itself, it's lagging behind, so you have to keep your emotions alive, and you have to really recognize the stubbornness.
Hello xperia phones is good but dxomark was very low what is the reason , samsung mobile worth buying good or not tell me and iam waiting xperia 1v vs s23 ultra comparison waiting brother
samsung screen.😂 flickering a lot.😂😂 Sony speakers.👍👍 12:18 - 13:48 louder than samsung.👍👍 13:22 speakers nice comparison 12:55 sony king in camera & photography
@@Wonkee792 Lol that's not hpw Adaptive Refresh Rate works. That is just purely Samsung using low frequency for Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) on their panels, hence the flickering is visible.
I regretted getting the Samsung S20 Ultra over whatever Xperia was released at the time. This week I'm getting the Sony Xperia 1 IV and will not be swayed. I regret the day I went away from Xperias, they were generally the best phones I ever had.
Sony Xperia is far better in my opinion. Lighter faster.. easy to hold in your hand and fit in your pocket. The s22 ultra is like a heavy brick in comparison. Xperia sounds much better. Videos and pictures look better. I have an Xperia, tried the Samsung. I'll stick with Sony.
Sony phones aren't well supported even by their manufacturers. Updates come in a bit later and some apps aren't optimized to the aspect ratio of their smartphones. Expect to wait for quiet a bit for the fixes and optimizations to come in. Their software capabilities pales in comparison to competitors. Just by looking at the animations in the UI, it is clear that Sony isn't too keen on giving a great software experience. 4K res is a gimic if placed on a phone of its size. They should quit the 21:9 aspect ratio and make full use of that resolution by giving the phone some width. You know. So that people can actually use it for productivity? Camera wize, Sony's aim is for those who require the manual/full control over the elements of the camera. However, the general public don't use the pro mode that often as they just often point and shoot. Relying on the software to give them the best shot. However, there things that I can commend Sony for. -The clarity on the Audio, while not as loud as Samsung's, is certainly clear even at max volumes. Unlike on the Galaxy where the sound becomes a bit tiny, and ear screeching. -The Display on Sony's has a better refreshrate for lower brightness levels though it's not as bright as the Samsung's. -Like the industrial look but, I doubt the majority would deem that "Eye Catching." However, it is far more resistant to scratches and wear-downs so, that's a win in my book. -3.5 plus Micro SD for the win. As for actual in-game performance, I doubt that Sony would come out on top with its heating issue. Verdict; Sony phones are expensive as hell yet, don't even offer the experience that cheaper competitors do. However, the phone isn't targeted to the general public. Instead, it's target is a niche group of people that works in Photography, Videography, and its fanbase. So it works.

🙏I am 35 yrs old and when I was 19 I got a phone j 300 with twelve mb internal storage and that time it had only one song with 11 mb I have upset many nokia phone lovers by the 💥sound of it.
S22 ultra performance mode open is on???
Has anyone had trouble with buying the 256gb variant in US through Amazon? It's much cheaper and I'm planning on buying it I just don't want connectivity issues
Did any of you notice note's display? Samsung does not work on display colours. I'm noticing it even from samsung note 8
Can anyone comment on which has the best signal reception strength seems to me people have forgotten the primary purpose for phones is making calls !
BiG 👍
Awesome objective video. I'll be going with the Sony. Thanks!
So one has a better camera than the other because of megapixels and how fast it is? I guess you don't have time to go in depth for each aspect
Which display is better color, brightness, quality in movies?
Watching it on my sony xperia 1 .. sony rocks ..
Xperia, no question. However I would really like 16/9 instead of 21/9.
Sony need to use with manual mode. Auto look so bland
With Samsung you can take photos faster than you think you just have to hold the volume un button and it can take 1000 photos and it's select the best to show first my s10plus have this future soil think even the note 20 has
EXCELLENT, SONY HAS NO CAMEA LAGS.👍👍🤣
@@fgame6036 fr? My galaxy A50 camera was so laggy and have very slow autofocus and sometime the result is blurry
Go to camera settings and change shutter speed, fixes your problem
Ill pick Galaxy Note 20 Ultra because it support expandable storage. Unlike the newer Galaxy S22 Ultra that not support it.
S22 ultra is very best ❤
Sony lose😐 😍Samsung best💪😍
I am using Samsung Galaxy Note3 Snapdragon version for years. If my phone gets broken, I would choose Sony. I want Apple 11 Pro Max since it is last iPhone does not overprocess the photos but I am Android guy unfortunately. Pixel 6a was my first choice but it does not have MicroSD card slot. I can use adapter for 3.5mm jack but external slot is unforgettable since I do have songs over 80GB.
Sony som používal už od začiatku . Rád počúvam hudbu a mali veľmi dobrí prehrávač .
You are crazy ! Repeat what you said but make more noise 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The funny thing is that no one in these tests mentions that most Samsung phones have problems with the Antenna and a very poor range. And that's an irreparable hardware problem.
hm honestly I've never heard that or had that issue. are you referring to 5G/LTE antennas?
I'm using s22u I don't have problem with that
I have Samsung S9+ since 2017& it's still working smoothly like a new. The real question is what is the useful life duration period for Sony ?
8 years 😀
S22 Ultra 🔥🔥 King of Android.
Can you please do a display comparison for the 1 iv
Sony's better I held both phones side by side, too.
Favourite Console: Sony
Favourite phone : Samsung
Over all love em both by different sides
When I had my xperia Z1s, actually went through 3 of those, traded in for an s Galaxy, I felt it was such a downgrade getting a newer phone.
I am sony user since 2003.
Samsung will never beat Xperia on speed and software stability.
Mái đẹp Quá anh em muốn mua mái này cái giá bảo nhiều anh 👍👍👍👍👍
I love s22 ultra
Sony needs to change their OS. They use the basic Android one software just like nokia with minimum customisation. It lacks features and good animations.
Xperia for manual photographers 😍🔥
Excellent detailed comparison , raising the hat 🎩 for your effort
Sony is the best 🔥
I love how sleek Xperia is but the price tag tho...
You are right. Most of the people select Samsung because of its better overall performance. However, I prefer Sony.
Long run?? i have xz1 for 4 years which is never even program crashed or lagging, or restart at sudden, I like to play pubg on it as well...I still have it till now..while my wife S9 is somewhere else, glass screen and the display is very weak and easily cracked on side, I dont need to tell the rest..
@@satyayerimia8640 Mine is an XZ Premium, it still works nicely.
The Sony phone has a 4K display. Say you're a Samshill without saying it .
Sony is the king 👑
Nope
I would like to pick Sony for its 3.5 mm jack and sd card
Nice work ❤️
Next time try to test the 2 phone with your left and right hands, .Not accurate left and right are not same speed✌️😁
My SONY XPERIA ™ 1 IV has a much better display than SAMSUNG's Galaxy S22 Ultra. I wouldn't expected this. In general is XPERIA ™ the 👑!
I'd take the Sony, without hesitation. Samsung hasn't convinced me to stay with them, long term.
Hilarious
@@semawwiii - What's hilarious about Sony selling a better phone?
@@DeadofWinter321 pffftt
S22 ultra i bought the wife i wasnt a fan of it looked lame and boring i hope the s23 ultra is better
@@wifilee5453 - Don't get your hopes up. Samsungs lineup is so disappointing every year.
Hi i have à xperia but its à xperia normal :/ans this video its really good, 😁😄
Imi plac telefoanele sony, se deosebesc de cele de la samsung sau iphone dar nu imi plac ca sunt lungi si inguste, si pretul foarte ridicat
Ieftin și bun ..nu exista
You did the camera test pretty wrong.
On the Samsung motion photo was enabled which makes the photo takes a bit to take.
Sony is king & killer 👑❤️ of another flagship phones also apple
Sony is best for photography & cinematic video 📸
What about s22 ultra's dynamic range and edge detection can your mark 1iv do that😂
Edit : I forgot about that 10x periscope and 30x hybrid zooooom LoL
but sony is also better on speed.
@@DvlNarsist What about Sony's 4k@120fps, unrivalled eye tracking technology, true variable optical zoom?! Does Samsung support that? 🤔
@@xperiafan5370 I mean both phones are best in there own category But I was just talking about 10x periscope of s22 ulta
Even if you tell me to get rid of the corner of the Note Series,
It's really hopeless. Even if you look at the iPhone itself, it's lagging behind, so you have to keep your emotions alive, and you have to really recognize the stubbornness.
Love your videos
which sony phone is the best
Xperia 1IV & Pro-i
Hello xperia phones is good but dxomark was very low what is the reason , samsung mobile worth buying good or not tell me and iam waiting xperia 1v vs s23 ultra comparison waiting brother
samsung screen.😂
flickering a lot.😂😂
Sony speakers.👍👍 12:18 - 13:48
louder than samsung.👍👍 13:22
speakers nice comparison 12:55
sony king in camera & photography
That flickering is the adaptive refresh rate. More efficient than running a constant 120Hz.
True 👍
@@Wonkee792 Lol that's not hpw Adaptive Refresh Rate works. That is just purely Samsung using low frequency for Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) on their panels, hence the flickering is visible.
I regretted getting the Samsung S20 Ultra over whatever Xperia was released at the time. This week I'm getting the Sony Xperia 1 IV and will not be swayed. I regret the day I went away from Xperias, they were generally the best phones I ever had.
ngl i love sony design so much, it has much different design than any other phone
So it works.
well said!
which phone is the best when it comes to RAM? I hate when games restart while its in the background and I have to start all over again😤
Samsung ofc as you can see in the video
