    i am a newbie to leathercrafting and started out purchasing bellies for my projects... stitching scared the daylights out of me lol ive enjoyed your vids and feel i am ready to venture forward... my stitching has since improved and feel comfortable purchasing shoulders and sides of diff weights... ive made simple zip pulls, pouches, wallets, sheaths and bracelets... i watched your zipper vid and have actually installed 2 zips... flip flops and a nice gusseted purse are on my list... once again tysmfs

    I would recommend using wool for stuffing because it keeps the needles in really good condition. Need to make one of these as soon as I acquire some punches.

    Thank you very much for your great instructions, which you do very well and in detail. I am excited and delighted to learn from you again and again. Thank you for sharing all of this with us. And your way of sewing the leather goods together is really awesome. Since I've seen that from you, I sew everything just like that and my sewing horse is only standing in the corner. Thank you very much and keep it up!

    This is too funny. Copying your pin cushion design was, literally, the first leather project I ever did. It turned out HORRIBLE, but it gave me the "I can actually do this" drive I needed to keep at it.

    Pillow stuffing is definitely the way to go. I tried cotton from cotton balls and the pins didn’t stick.

    So, I’m a brand new leather guy, just ordered a bunch of your patterns including this. I’m stoked to learn simple stuff and then get into knife sheaths for the knives I forge.
    I’m trying to find a round accordion change purse/pouch that old gentlemen carried in their front pocket. Do you know of such a thing?

    I think it would've been a good addition to put in a layer of fabric or felt between the top leather layer and the cushion to keep strands of the polyester or whatever you're using from popping out of the hole.
    Btw is that utility knife around 1:50 made of brass? Does the extra weight make it nicer to use?

    • @Corter

      good idea! it is solid brass, something we've been working on for a while - coming soon ;)

    Okay, I honestly didn't think you'd literally grab couch cushioning. You did though, and I respect the intuition grab actual cushioning. I thought you maybe have grabbed a Styrofoam. Much better for the environment. As a amateur leather worker, I try to be as nature neutral as possible. My day job is as a chef and I can almost fully process a cow by myself. Still do love your videos; you are my main teacher in leather craft. Thank you so much.

    Hey! Love your work, it’s always beautiful quality. I have noticed in your previous videos you finish your leather with mink oil liquid and Aussie conditioners, is there any reason to use both and not just one or the other? I pretty new to leather craft and I want to try natural russet leather but I’m confused what to use to get that beautiful golden colour your leather projects have :) thank you

    • @Corter
      @Corter  3 роки тому +2

      you can use one or the other for sure! I use mink oil for color on natural veg - it tends to give a more red/brown patina over time. Then I do a good wax paste for protection against moisture, etc - if I had to pick only one I'd do a wax paste

      Poundo board is available at Weaver or Tandy. You can use poly cutting boards, lead slabs, heavy leather or my favourite, the end grain of a slab of wood.

    If y'all don't want to sacrifice your furniture for stuffing it's referred to as polyfill or fiberfill and you can find it in craft stores and even Wal-Mart. I really cherish these videos. Thanks!
