Ben was my fave of the DIs - though they all have been endearing in their own way. Too bad he had to leave before the "situation" with Camille ever moved in one direction or another.
I feel the same. It's heartbreaking that we never got to see how it would have played out. Series 2 built it up so beautifully only for S3E1 to shatter and break us. The fanfiction community has some amazing writers who have written a range of stories where Richard is still very much alive and well.
I liked how they were playful together but I didn't like the series forcing the romance. It's just like with another murder mystery show I watch, Midsomer Murders. The writers just kept pushing DCI Barnaby's daughter, Cully, with whoever her dad was partnered up with. And then when Cully got married, they started to push the side character/detective into a romance with the medical examiner.
@@kelsiaramaple I heartily agree with you. I shouted out, "No!" at the point in the final S 2 episode, thinking the team were going to be told that Richard had been killed or died. And then how the writers handled that first episode of S 3 - some of the best TV writing ever.
Easy to bring back DI Poole; have him wake up just as he's murdered, realizes it was all a dream brought on by the blasted sun and horrible tea, try to be polite about how boring he thought his Uni buddies and the party were, and leave to go detecting with Camille, Fidel and Dwayne.
very good ide. also he could come back as a guest again . Past and present mixed. Also he was taken death switch because he needed to do soem cover up mission so on..he probably doesn't not wanna come back full time because he has other arrangements and he feels he is far far away from action maybe. But he has to accept this role made him popular internatioanly. So he should come back time to time .
I love this show so much, I just keep watching it over and over…I adore Ben Miller, and enjoy watching him in any show! Agree with most - regret they killed off his character, because he could have easily revived DI Poole in another (similar to how they spun DIP off with DI Humphrey Goodman - whom I love as well)…
Oh, he has a funny side 😱. Lovely 👍. Most of the time he always played serious characters, you know, as if he was perpetually constipated 😁. I enjoy the show since the beginning, watch on PBS here in the States.
Lol, in which other shows have you seen Ben Miller? I can recommend the Armstrong and Miller Show and Worst Week of my Life - he's hilarious in all of those. The Armstrong and Miller Podcasts on Spotify are great too, as they're in character already on those. Also, if you haven't seen it already, he just starred in "AllStarMusicals" as Riff Raff from the Rocky Horror Picture Show, performing the Time Warp. Think it's uploaded on UA-cam and ITV Hub. :)
I've recently been rewatching it from the start and Ben was my favourite too, although I think we have been very lucky with our DI's. I couldn't help wishing he and Camille had got together but it was not too be. Perhaps we could have Neville investigate a case that concerned Cammy and Richard a few years ago and we could bring them back for a flashback story. Maybe someone they put away has got out, or Neville finds a case that wasn't solved and he's narrating the original investigation.. Come on writers you can think of something.
Just discovered Death in Paradise! (No idea how I managed to miss it before.) S2 E6 A Dash Of Sunshine - the scene where Richard comes face to face with the bully who insists on calling him "Dick" - is some of the finest acting I've seen anywhere, any time. Huge respect for Ben Miller.
The cutest thing of all this is Richard Poole doesn't speak a word of French, but Ben Miller speaks it very well !
One of the best shows on telly, no matter who the inspector is.
Love his laugh ...he is so charming 😍
Wow comes across as a super chilled dude unlike Richard Poole thats the sign of a good actor i assume

I am in total agreement with you both. The best DI ever!! I was absolutely gutted when they killed him off 😢 😭

Such a great show , and for me Ben was the best detective and I really wish Sara ( Camille ) was back in the show .❤❤❤

If only!
I couldn't watch it after he was killed off. The series just wasn't the same.
Yes and beautiful Island of La Guadeloupe.
Brilliant

Bring him back, from the dead or otherwise, we loved him. 🇬🇧❤️👻
Miss him so much !!!
Gee, these are such great videos! Just love this series!
Oh I love it, thank you for the upload . nice to see him chilled out. Ben does not have a big head
He definitely doesn't! Yeah, lovely to see him relaxing and I love the concept of 'liming' :)

I wish I could watch this show more often. Greetings from Canada.
Wow what an advert for Guadeloupe - I'm off to book my flights!

He's very nice and easy to talk to in real life, very nice guy
@@karenrussell5831 Hope you get even more opportunities to meet him, you're both like two friends having a regular catchup :)
Look at you dressing down Ben, we are all praying for your reserection,
Death in paradise es mi serie favorita.
❤
Great, i love Death in Paradise
is anyone else really hoping for a spin off show of the Commisioner as a young detective?
That would be such a neat idea!!
Miss you on the show. You were the best!
I love this show!
Love mee some Ben ❤

Ok so how do I get quickly into acting and then join the cast!?!?!?
I need to know too, haha. :)
Apparently its hard work of 6 months in plus 30C weather with sand in all your clothes.
Amazing movie Death in paradise my isle
Hope you enjoyed the video looking at Guadeloupe!
Me encantaba Ben Miller en Crimen en el Paraíso, es un actor genial, el calor es lo que peor lleva el elenco de está serie.
I'm from St Lucia, now living in Louisiana. Miss this
Tolle Landschaft, einfach schön. !
Danke Ben Miller ❤❤❤❤
I REALLY WANT TO THAANK YOU BECAUSE I NEVER SEE HE CAST OUT OF THE SHOW
Glad you enjoyed this behind the scenes video - it's interesting to see other parts of Guadeloupe and nice to see Ben chilled out enjoying the island.
You could see Ben in The Armstrong and Miller show and Duane in Red Dwarf.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
De ce a iesit Ben din film?
I think it was because he missed his family too much. Obviously they had to be out there for months at a time.
Also he was about to become a father after I do some research it said that
it is funny to see Richard Poole without a suit 😄
👍
The captioning does keep up with Ben's speaking.
Yes but Thierry Henry is "Cherry" something lol
Such a contrast to Professor T..mark of a good actor
SPOILER ALERT
Thierry Henry was not born on La Désirade.
Nope but his mum was I think that’s what Ben meant to say
The subtitles called him Cherry 🍒
Yes his family is from guadeloupe but he was born near Paris, les Ulis.
